  1. I missed Walz's security details on Sunday, but then again it wasn't hard to do. It was the second-busiest day in the history of the Minnesota State Fair, 256,015 people went through the gates. Place was PACKED PACKED PACKED.
  2. And if they actually believed a word of this, they're turning in a straight Democratic ballot.
  3. One reason why 2008 was weird is that John McCain gave his acceptance speech to the RNC on Thursday, September 4, which meant that his bounce started and ended a lot later than some years. The timing of his bounce cooling off lined up nicely with the collapse of Wall Street. Lehman Brothers failed on Monday, September 15th, AIG followed the next day, and the first bailout bill failed on the House floor shortly thereafter.
  4. And agencies wonder why recruitment is down. Officers have to defend this asshole and the Derek Chauvins of the world.
  5. These dumbasses have a booth out at the State Fair to hand out anti-Walz stuff, and they haven't been able to draw flies. Meanwhile, down the street at the DFL* booth, they sold out of 12 days worth of Harris/Walz buttons, shirts, and camo hats by dinnertime on Day 2. Any merch that the party got to the tent didn't stay in stock very long. *In Minnesota, DFL means more than finishing dead last. The official name of Tim Walz's party is the Democratic/Farmer-Labor Party.
  6. Lester Holt tried to fact-check Trump multiple times in his first debate with Hilary. Trump blew through it like shit through a goose.
  7. Didn't you hear Tim Walz's speech on Wednesday night? He's going to be reminding everyone in the campaign to play to the whistle/buzzer. Plus Minnesota sports fans have a long memory of seeing what happens when you take the foot off the gas too soon.
  8. This photo better be in discussion for a Pulitzer.
  9. All of the speakers so far the DNC are advocating for the very thing the protestors are calling for. I haven't had a chance to type out all my thoughts on Walz's speech last night, but after it was over, it took me an hour and a half to calm down enough to go to sleep.
  10. That's the Mankato West fight song. Go fuck 'em up, Coach.
  11. Unfortunately, Bibi has a rock solid majority in the Knesset, so unless his coalition completely collapses, he's the PM until October 2026.
  12. Nancy was leaning hard on Joe, but she absolutely did not anticipate either the timing of the decision or the rapid consolidation of the rank-and-file around Kamala. I think she was envisioning a freewheeling brawl on the floor of the United Center. Turns out the following were the opinions of most Democrats: Willing but unimpressed to slog out a joyless campaign with Joe at the helm The decision to withdraw is Joe's and Joe's alone In the event he withdraws, VP Harris is the only way forward The speed at which the party rallied around Harris is stunning. The replacement process was all over in about 3 hours, and completed with an amount of energy that I haven't seen in the Democratic base since 2008. I didn't think that the Democratic Party was capable of such a thing.
  13. If they actually believed all of this, they would be turning in a straight ticket Democrat ballot.
  14. HIllary is in one of the dark slots on the card, before the networks show up. Let her talk, then get her out of the way. https://www.npr.org/2024/08/19/g-s1-17601/dnc-speakers-list-lineup-monday-biden
  15. Rough start for the Giants SP last night against the Braves. HBP, HBP, K looking, BB, BB, grand slam into McCovey Cove.
  16. Pelosi was able to do what Mitch McConnell was either unable or unwilling to do. She didn't expect the timing, or the rapid consolidation around Kamala Harris.
  17. I don't know if/when Predictit will post their markets for Florida, but if you're looking for underdogs at a price, Democrat to win Florida President and Senate are worth throwing a few bucks on.
  18. The traditional strongholds of Wisconsin Republicans in the Milwaukee suburbs. They are among the few suburban counties that are still hard R post-Dobbs.
  19. Say what you want about the cheese heads, but they've been crawling through glass to vote Democrat since the spring of 2018. Meanwhile, across the St Croix, the top of the GOP ticket will have a deadbeat dad joining the rapist/felon. Good luck!
  20. Abortion and weed. Abortion and weed. Abortion and weed. If those ballot initiatives in Florida finish anywhere near the 60% required to pass, that's a huge problem for what's left of the GOP elsewhere on the ballot.
