  1. The Minnesota Legislature is split. Tim Walz in the governor's chair, a DFL House, and a GOP Senate.
  2. I'm firmly in the "They don't want to" camp. The Senate GOP had their chance to get rid of Trump in February 2020. They didn't. Moscow Mitch could have gotten rid of Trump in the days following January 6. They didn't. It's going to take a 400-EV beatdown for them to get the idea, and I'm not sure if that's possible.
  3. DoJ piling on. All officers involved are looking at deprivation of civil rights charges. What's crazy is that If Chauvin had been acquitted, the federales would have arrested him in the courthouse. https://www.startribune.com/feds-plan-to-indict-chauvin-other-three-ex-officers-on-civil-rights-charges/600051374/
  4. Hennepin County District Court managed to seat a jury to send Derek Chauvin to the hole at OPH.
  5. Courts will be drawing the maps in Minnesota. Sounds odd, but it's happened every redistricting since 1970 due to split control of the governor's chair and chambers of the Legislature.
  6. Razor thin margin in Minnesota.
  7. Florida and Iowa are now red states unless and until proven otherwise. If the Iowegians wouldn't get rid of Joni Ernst in an environment that is much more blue than what fall 22 will be, they're not going blue. Pretty accurate breakdown, @Js1
  8. What little chance he has on appeal is from incompetent counsel, not from external factors. That jury was one that didn't need much convincing.
  9. Speaking of Nobel prize, Dr. Kariko and Dr. Weissman should be shoo-ins for the 2022 Nobel in medicine.
  10. Getting back to the killer and the Minneapolis Police Department... Hope he likes solitary at OPH.
  11. 330 PM CDT is the time that I keep seeing on all the MSP news sites. It's not a stretch to say that this is the most meaningful verdict in Minnesota history.
  12. No. Saw somewhere that the state had the chance to enter two of Chauvin's incidents into evidence, and they declined to do so. Keep the focus on Chauvin instead of turning the trial into State v. MPD.
  13. FIFA and UEFA make the IOC look like a bunch of innocent school kids.
  14. Jerry Blackwell's final statement: Jury getting their final instructions now.
  15. The judge just stopped the defense cold and called lunch break. 2:34 and counting. This lawyer is going to get his client sent away with maximum sentence. I sure as hell don't want a hangry jury deciding my fate.
  16. Clearly defense counsel didn't learn the second cardinal rule: Never go to court over the lunch hour.
  17. I'm not sure that hearing George Floyd call out for his mama over and over again is helping the defense.
  18. Judge reading the instructions. He is not in the mood to fuck around today.
  19. After the sidebar, the questioning seemed to focus on another blood test that was already in evidence. Gist of the rebuttal testimony was Today is it. Jury instructions, then closing arguments. After that, it's as long as it takes for the jury to reach a verdict.
  20. Nyet on the tracker, but my garage door opens and closes every time I cough. So there's that.
  21. Moderna Round 2 yesterday. Felt fine yesterday, but feel hung over today.
