  1. The American taxpayer did just fine by TARP, even if it was a universally despised idea at the time.
  2. This was Tim Walz's main point in his presser this afternoon. Testing capacity has been tight in the state's labs, and he's mad that the tests can't be run in quantity.
  3. How many times has the first circuit breaker been hit since last Monday? Ive counted at least 4 of 8 trading days.
  4. IL-3 is D+6. This is also the district in which an unrepentant white supremacist (forgot his name already) was the 2018 Republican nominee because no one else filed to run.
  5. Greatest retailers? JFC
  6. Press conference at the top of the hour in Minnesota. Governor's office has a hard hold on the contents. I think a statewide school closure is coming.
  7. Why the ever living fuck would you get on a cruise, especially after the first quarantine?
  8. Mayo Clinic getting shit done. They had a confirmed case in Olmsted County yesterday and began drive through testing at the time of the announcement.
  9. The case in Minnesota is an old man that was recently on a cruise with a confirmed fatality.
  10. All classes and finals for winter quarter at the University of Washington will no longer meet in person.
  11. The Senate majority was always in play for 2020, but there's nothing wrong with making the GOP play more defense. Based on this news, as well as the Super Tuesday results, I'd sort the Senate races into the following tiers: Sure-fire Dem pickups: Maine, Arizona, Colorado, North Carolina. Live underdogs: Montana, Iowa, Georgia x 2, Kansas if Kobach is the nominee, Bama Lotto tickets: South Carolina, Texas, Kentucky, Alaska Doug Jones and one of the Georgia seats look a lot nicer with Joe Biden at the top of the bill. Thanks Obama. Haven't quite decided what to do with Montana. I know there have been other Democrat statewide winners there in the recent past, and Bullock has won statewide there recently. But a race like this determines is Trump still has coattails. I put Alaska on there because there's an intra-party fight up there that makes the Alabama Senate donnybrook look downright tame. https://www.adn.com/opinions/editorials/2019/09/28/the-war-for-the-soul-of-the-alaska-republican-party/
  12. Interesting perspective from the Atlantic: https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2020/02/coronavirus-and-blindness-authoritarianism/606922/ TL,DR: China's mass digital surveillance has made its populace reluctant to say anything at all. Because of this, the ChiComs have no idea how big the problem is and weren't able to get a hold of the virus like they did during SARS.
  13. Question for those of you who remember the 2015 GOP primary debates: Did anyone go after Trump in the debates the way Warren went after Bloomberg last night? IIRC no one did until it was too late in the process.
  14. You forgot this one in the progression.
  15. https://www.aldailynews.com/new-alabama-poll-shows-tight-race-for-u-s-senate/ The good news is that the GOP primary is a real donnybrook. The bad news is that Doug Jones is at least 8 points in arrears to all contenders not named Roy Moore.
  16. At least there was no "Insure with Nationwide or your kids die" this year. This is still one of the best Super Bowl commercials ever put to cellulose.
  17. One of the biggest problems of this is that nobody believes the numbers that the CPC is putting out.
  18. I'd be fine with him in either spot.
  19. Did they at least get enough out of the SEC deal to replace the artificial turf?
  20. Adam Schiff will be the Speaker of the House sometime soon, and the US will be better for it.
  21. Original article from City Pages The only reason Paul Gazelka is still the Majority Leader is that the Senate didn't face the electorate in 2018.
  22. Either Tennessee wins a close one or the Chiefs blow them out. I don't see any other outcome as possible.
  23. They voted for Scott Walker three times since 2010. That's all you need to know about Planet Cheese.
  24. Arizona, Colorado, North Carolina, and Maine. That's the path to the majority, even if Doug Jones doesn't make it in Alabama. I might even add Kansas to that tier if Korbach is the GOP nominee.
