  1. Of all the excellent options out there for the VP pick, that may be the worst one of the lot.
  2. 13.867 It's go time
  3. Beats hell out of a deconstructed hamburger, and then throw in a Red Stripe.
  4. It's really strange to see such a huge gap between Trump/Scott and the no side of the amendments. The Michigan amendment passed 56-44, and it swept the GOP completely out of state government. Then again, this is Florida we're talking about.
  5. Forget the Rotel. It is too spicy for the Scandinavian palate.
  6. Rafa off to an awful start vs. Djokovic. Probably the best thing to watch this morning.
  7. I grilled juicy Lucy's last night. The only catch is that the cheese filling temperature is roughly the same as the surface of Mercury, so be careful with the first few bites
  8. Yup. It would be a blockbuster upset if either of the ballot measures pass due to needing 60% +1. However, IMHO, if the margin on that ends up anywhere close to passing, that means massive problems for the rest of the GOP ticket downballot. I don't know if that would get Harris across, but could it bury Tim Scott? Yup. As for Walz, the only question mark I can remember is that he was falsely accused of embellishing his rank when he left the Minnesota National Guard. The public affairs officer made short work of the accusation.
  9. Play La Marseillaise. PLAY IT!
  10. The sound mixer is doing an awful job. Commentators mikes are way too loud, the main event audio feed way too low.
  11. I'm liking this as well. One thing that Mike Tirico is borrowing from other English-language telecasts is the idea of saying as little as possible. If Costas were still the host he still wouldn't have shut up.
  12. Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan would succeed him, and she was a mover and shaker in the aforementioned Legislature prior to being named Gov. Walz's running mate. I believe she would also be the first Native American governor in the US.
  13. The rest of America is learning what us Minnesotans have known for a while: he's a damn effective governor. Alongside a DFL Legislature, they are a big fan of competent governance. Among other things, his administration had the unemployment system ready to roll and fully funded when the COVID shutdowns sent everyone to the unemployment line. I'd be sad to lose him to the Vice Presidency, but the DFL bench is deep here and I'm not worried about any potential replacements.
  14. Guilty as charged. What surprised me was the speed and intensity at which the ranks closed around VP Harris, and the jolt of electricity it has given Democrats. I was worried about a freewheeling floor fight at the DNC, but in about 4 hours it was all over but the paperwork. Republicans getting caught completely flatfooted was strictly gravy.
  15. The last time there was this much energy and excitement on the left flank was January 2008, when Barack Obama beat Hillary in the Iowa caucus.
  16. The primary financier of the Minnesota GOP over the past decade is currently serving 21 years in federal prison for sex trafficking of minors, so it's not a surprise they've got no morals.
  17. Walz doesn't bring anything to the table that isn't already there, but it's nice to see his reputation noticed east of the St. Croix. It'd be a shame to lose him to the VP.
  18. This is why you defer or play defense first when you win the toss.
  19. That's where I was too. The leadership and rank-and-file of the Minnesota DFL are firmly on board. Lets fucking go!
  20. ...until they realize that Trump = Bibi.
  21. The fresh water condenser at Midway Island is broken down.

  23. Unfortunately, both Nigel Farange and Jeremy Corbyn will be in the next Parliament.
