  1. I have the sneaking suspicion that in every area code there is a lawyer who has a phone number of all the same digit for every digit 2 through 9.
  2. My guess is he was a huge Vancouver Canucks fan as a youth.
  3. As a resident of the Corpus Christi area, I am quite familiar with Mr. Davis, Esq. He has an office in Corpus and is all over the airwaves here. So I think I see where y'all were going with this.
  4. I am probably missing some inside joke here, but if I recall correctly, that was the number for Pizza Hut in Austin when I lived there in the mid 90s.
  5. Around these parts where I live those are known as Rockport Ropers.
  6. Well there you have it. I guess UTSA and Coach Traylor will just have to figure out how to deal with the impending FAU dynasty led by Coach Herman.
  7. Seems like that would be a thing that the tv networks would do in the first couple weeks of the season. Like they do in basketball with all of these made-for-tv tournaments and challenges. I know I would be much more interested in a Texas-FSU or Texas-Miami game in week 1 or 2 over Rice or UTSA or the like. I got curious, so I did a little research to see which schools in the current power 5 conferences Texas has never played in football. ACC: Clemson, FSU, Duke B1G: MSU, Illinois Pac-12 and SEC: none. Somewhat surprisingly (to me, at least), Texas has played every current member at some point.
  8. I don't make the one I linked to; I just saw it not long ago and thought it appropriate for this thread. That being said, I see where you are coming from.
  9. If you are in the market for an advent calendar. Die Hard Advent Calendar
  10. Clearly UTSA and Coach Traylor are running from Florida Atlantic and Coach Tom Herman. (I assume FAU is not also transitioning to the AAC. I have not kept up with who is going where when it comes to the non-power 5 conferences.)
  11. Remember the Bank One building in Austin that had the gold windows?
  12. I looked this up just to prove to myself that this was true. Seems like that somewhere along the way Texas and FSU would have met up in some random bowl game or had a home-and-home 50 years ago or something. I am always surprised when I find a school like FSU that Texas has never faced.
  13. I am sure I am not the first to ask this, but is @Beau Vine Craig Way? Great write up on the region championship games.
  14. We salute the Marine Corps vet who chugged a beer from her prosthetic leg at a Lakers game Hutsler enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2017, training as an electronics maintenance technician at Twentynine Palms, California. She first began experiencing pain in her right leg during boot camp, although it was initially diagnosed as a stress fracture. Nine months later, though, an MRI revealed a tumor growing on her foot. Hutsler was transferred to the U.S. Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment in July 2018, but after months of surgeries and physical therapy, she was told that her foot would have to be amputated within five to 15 years. Instead, Hutsler decided to get it over with and have the leg amputated immediately. “I had just turned 22 at the time,” Hutsler told Marine Corps Times earlier this year. “I was like, I’m not going to waste my 20s knowing that I’m going to get my leg cut off. I’d rather be able to live a successful life with amputation than wait around for an amputation to happen.” Hutsler medically retired in January 2020 as a lance corporal but hasn’t slowed down, competing in snowboarding, track, field, shooting, swimming, archery, wheelchair rugby, and seated volleyball at events for disabled military veterans like the Warrior Games. Now, she can add champion beer drinker to that list. So cheers to Annika Hutsler, who found the best possible way to watch the Lakers lose. Cheers!
  15. UT-Austin That Is Not In Austin
  16. Just go all professional golf tournament on the school. Stephen Fuller Austin University of Nacogdoches as presented by The University of Texas at Austin. SFAUONAPBTUOTAA for short.
  17. I am not afraid to admit that I have many kinks, but none are Iowa based. I have just gotten a kick all season long of how inept Iowa has been offensively yet here they are with a chance to win the west in the B1G and maybe really screw things up by winning the B1G. Hate might be a little strong but I certainly have no love for Michigan and Ohio State. Maybe I dislike Michigan a little less. I am one of those types that if Texas is not in the mix, then I root for maximum chaos. Unless Georgia loses to both Georgia Tech and LSU I think they are all abut assured of being in the playoff at this point. Hell, even if they lose both of those games they are probably still in. So I want Georgia to lose to LSU in the SEC title game, Iowa (or Illinois or Purdue) to beat Michigan in the B1G title game (because I want to see the mental gymnastics the committee would have to go through to put a 1 loss, non conference champion Michigan team in the playoff given their aggy-level weak non-conference schedule), Oregon to beat USC in the Pac-12 title game, and Texas to get into the Big XII title game and beat TCU. And, not that I think it would matter much, but if Clemson was to lose the ACC title game, that would be sweet. Although watching the committee trying to figure out what to do with Clemson if they do win the ACC would also be fun. College football is at its best when the craziness is at maximum.
  18. I hope the winner of this game loses to Iowa in the B1G championship game 13-10 and Iowa gets its 13 with approximately 167 yards of offense and by scoring 2 safeties, a field goal, and a defensive touchdown with a missed extra point. I know it is unlikely this happens, but one can hope.
  19. Mark "The Mechanic" Eaton. RIP but I hated and still hate the Jazz.
  20. Yeah, but it may take half of forever to see Vandy enough to get even against them. I wish the SEC would hurry up and figure out the pods/divisions/permanent rivals and what the rotation will be for how often Texas will face the other teams.
  21. Winsipedia has Texas with a losing record all time to 13 teams (of those that still play football at the D1 level): UCLA (3-4) Penn State (2-3) Vanderbilt (3-8-1) USC (2-5) Notre Dame (3-9) BYU (1-4) Syracuse (0-2-1) Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Northwestern, NC State, Air Force, and Minnesota (0-1 against all of these schools) http://www.winsipedia.com/texas
  22. Nothing against NC State, but the only reason I would be excited about a matchup against them is the fact that Texas is winless all time against NC State. It just annoys me when I look at Texas' record against other schools and I see the teams that the Horns have never beaten. Notre Dame, UCLA, or UW would definitely be more exciting opponents. Utah...eh. Don't really have an opinion either way on them.
  23. If and when the new harbor bridge is ever finished (a really big if right now) then Whataburger Field will lose some of its charm in my opinion without the bridge in the background and its lights.
