  1. I agree on the NSAID's. Several years ago I was eating 2 advil every morning for about 18 months for a severe case of tennis elbow. At my annual physical my kidney function was way down. I told my doctor about the advil and he basically said wtf was I thinking. You shouldn't be on advil or tylenol for more than a couple of weeks. Thankfully, there was no permanent damage and my kidney function bounced back.
  2. This is one of my problems. But it’s so common I need to do better and not let it bother me.
  3. Good stuff here. At my annual physical last month my VO2Max was just above 47. At age 62 this in the “superior” category. So I have that going for me, which is nice.
  4. I think that's right. It was different for France in May/June 1940, but Churchill was very wise not to throw in the rest of the RAF when France was after him to do so when it was clear that France would fall within days. I don't think Ukraine is where France was in the summer of 1940.
  5. The female thing is a whole different ball game. Menopause has done a number on my wife--especially in the libido department. It really sucks. That said, every woman is different. I have some friends whose wives are doing fine with hormone supplements or whatever it is they are taking. They still enjoy an active sex life. Others, not at all.
  6. I think I posted this on the other health/age related threads, but I recommend the book Younger Next Year. It was written by a retired NYC lawyer from an old white shoe firm and his internist. Basically, it's eat healthy (no white starches, especially fried ones-ever, and eat lean protein and lots of fruits and veggies), exercise every day (30-45 minutes of cardio such as spinning), and lift weights 4-5 days a week to maintain strength. I follow my doctor's advice on supplements--he's big on vitamins C, D, and zinc to boost your bodies' natural immune system. The only time I got Covid he said to take mega doses of zinc, quercetin, and vitamins C and D. And get an annual physical and full body exams by a dermatologist at least once a year. Oh, and lose weight if you are overweight. My doctor friends say there's a reason you never see really old fat people.
  7. 77 yesterday with 3 birdies and 3 doubles. Lowest round I’ve played at my club.
  8. Maybe I missed it, but are you in Texas? Twicehorn raised good points.
  9. Wait. So it’s not even possible that Annie, in fact, had complications from the shot? Sure, it’s extremely unlikely, but you must know that it does happen. Right?
  10. My first game ever live at DKR (then called Memorial Stadium) was in 1980 vs. Arkansas my freshman year. We won but I forget the score. It was in August and it was ABC's college kick off game. It was glorious.
  11. Brought a bunch back from Budapest in 2022. It’s very good. And Budapest is awesome.
  12. Squirrel stew tonight!
  13. Watching Michael Clayton again for the 20th time. Love this movie. Great performances by Clooney, Lord Cornwallis, and the Ice Queen bitch. And Sidney Pollock.
  14. Snowmass snow stake today:

    Getting old sucks

    Damn. Hang in there.
  16. In The Godfather, when Sonny blurted out his question about Tattagilia guaranteeing their investment, it didn't seem to me that it was evidence that Sonny was necessarily interested in the deal. It could have meant the opposite--that he was skeptical of the deal. I always thought there may have been a deleted scene. Or maybe it didn't matter what he said, just that he spoke up at all. Kind of wonder whether Sonny should have even attended the meeting in the first place and that Vito should have known better to include him.
  17. As far as Texas is concerned, for the month of October, here are the hurricane that have hit Texas since 1867: 1867: A Category 2 hurricane, also known as the "Galveston" hurricane, made landfall near Brownsville. The hurricane caused flooding in Galveston and flattened Bagdad and Clarksville. 1886: An unnamed Category 3 hurricane made landfall near the Texas/Louisiana state line. 1912: An unnamed Category 2 hurricane made landfall near Padre Island. 1949: An unnamed Category 2 hurricane made landfall near Freeport. 1989: Hurricane Jerry, a Category 1 hurricane, made landfall on Galveston Island.
  18. JFC. They need to go to the train station.
  19. You guys are ignoring the part about what he’s read. He’s read the studies too. Not just anecdotal evidence. Hell, I don’t need to be a weatherman to know which way the wind blows. I know people who get the shots as often as they can and they still get Covid-more than once. I know people who have never gotten the shots and they got Covid with light symptoms or not at all. It’s all over the place. Of course, I’m not talking (nor is my doc) about people with other health issues. They have those problems to consider in whether they should keep getting jabbed. For me, I’m comfortable listening to my doc.
