  1. And my post was in response to Malibu Sheriff’s post—especially regarding the fish in the grass. Big no-no. I didn’t even look at your post.
  2. This isn’t hard. https://news.orvis.com/fly-fishing/video-catch-release-tips-keepemwet#:~:text=Use a net with a,it's ready to swim away.
  3. Yikes, please keep those trout wet (in the water) while you unhook and release them.
  4. So when you see a Jewish guy wearing a yarmulke you are pissed off?
  5. Jack Elam. Didn’t check to see if he’s been mentioned already. Slim Pickens as well.
  6. I like them both, but I very much prefer the one with John Wayne. It also was one of the first movies that I recall seeing in the theater. I was 7 when it was released.
  7. So there’s a scale in the locker room and I’m ok to be naked to weigh myself, right?
  8. Using political hot buttons (from either end of the spectrum) as a litmus test to determine whether you’ll hate someone is a very good indication that I won’t like you. While it’s not fool proof, how you treat someone who can’t do a thing for you is a very good test for whether or not I’ll like you.
  9. This. But I suppose some people are really into IMAX. I enjoyed the movie but I wanted more on the bomb making part and it could have been shortened by about 30 min.
  10. I received a bottle of the 14 year old Tincup for my birthday last month and it’s pretty good. Not sure it’s worth the $70 msrp, but it’s a solid whiskey.

    Getting old sucks

Another vote for this book. And don’t miss your annual physical and watch your PSA numbers. Most men will get prostate cancer eventually but if it’s caught early it has a very high survival rate. I know of a couple of guys who avoided physicals and especially avoided the digital exam and they died within a few months of the prostate cancer diagnosis. I’ve read recently that the digital exam is no longer the standard of care unless other factors are present.
  12. Yep. Even in Fort Bend County it was always the feeder. In 1980 on the way to Dallas for OU weekend I kept seeing exit signs for the “Frontage Road’” and I made a comment that it was strange that all these towns keep using the same name for a street. I caught a lot grief for that one.
  13. What others have said regarding new clubs and I would get a full swing lesson or two.
  14. Yep. They are not assignable, meaning, among other things, that as a grantor you have to buy a policy that insures you against stuff that might have happened before the time you owned it. And so every time property is flipped they get to charge another whole fee even though the grantor only owned the property for a short time. It’s a huge racket even before any claim is ever made on a title defect.
  15. 33%. Wow. For expected service my standard is 20% and i go up or down from there depending on the quality of the experience. Not sorry for the humble brag, but the current tipping culture is yet another reason why I do more and more of my drinking and eating (especially drinking) at my country club. Except for the golf bag room guys and for Christmas gifts, no add-on tipping there.
  16. They are called lane jumpers, I think. I’ve always thought it was a shitty move, but I’ve heard some people say that the lanes and ramps are designed that way to encourage the behavior to improve traffic flow.
  17. This. A couple of weeks ago I damned near hit a guy who was jogging west on Woodway near Chimney Rock. He was about four feet from the curb in my lane. The sidewalk at that area is fine and you see joggers on the sidewalk all the time. He was a black guy in dark non-reflective clothes-not easy to notice when you aren’t looking for people jogging in your lane. It was about 6:00 am and I was on the way to the airport. It was at a slight bend in the road and I had about 40 yards to miss him. Some people have a death wish. They can’t be that stupid.
  18. HEB at Fountainview and San Felipe has expanded their curbside delivery slots. Except for the after work hour only about a third of them are occupied when i go there. I suppose if you are buying ground meat and canned goods or frozen stuff you don’t mind someone picking out your items. I suppose it saves some time vs going in the store, but I can’t handle someone picking out my proteins and produce. And I really don’t mind the long walk but at peak times it’s hard to find any spaces and there are always several empty curbside pickup spots. Are some people still afraid of shopping in person or is it a time saving thing?
  19. Not sure between those two, but it’s the SAE’s Alpha chapter. Their house looks like a nice country club’s main clubhouse. I’ve heard they are a very good fraternity there.
  20. I’ve always thought it odd that these beings from another world have the technology to get here and when they get here they . . . crash! Or did we shoot them down? If so, they have shitty defenses.
  21. My experience as well and I’m 61. I meet with a large group of my fraternity brothers at least once a year for a golf weekend and my best friends are guys I met in the fraternity and at other fraternities at UT. Early 80’s UT Greek life was a blast. However, no way in hell would I pay $4k for a consultant. But my daughters were legacies and had no trouble getting in. If you are a legacy at UT they have to cut you very early—I think the first day, and if they don’t you are in unless you choose another sorority and that happens occasionally. it’s pretty much the same for my wife. She is still very close to many of her sorority sisters and a few girls in other sororities that she met at UT.
  22. No suits? What about weddings? I own several suits and a tux. I wear the tux two to four times a year. I don’t have any tattoos and I don’t understand the concept, and I think it’s gross. That said, if it makes you happy it’s no skin of off my nose. I pay for my music and I cut the cord four or five years ago. I hate most modern music. It’s like fingernails on a chalk board to me.
  23. .5 inch yesterday in 77057. Enough to fuck up my golf game.
