    Tipping

Two things. I don’t mind tipping a server 20% and up for good to great service, I expect to do that. And 20% is not the base for even shitty service. I’ll go lower if I’m certain it’s the server’s fault. Second, I just don’t carry much, if any, cash around these days so without a credit or debit card transaction involved I’m not throwing cash around to some that might deserve a tip. Oh well.
  2. So do Ted and his ex get back together or do they just agree to be good parents to their son? Internet chatter goes both ways. My take is that it was made intentionally unclear so you can believe whatever you want.

    Getting old sucks

Yep. My 87 year old mother has had both eyes done and she sees way better than I do.
  4. You know what you’re talking about. How dare you post in this thread.
  5. Congrats to Bradley. Classy guy.
  6. Duke, hope you get better. Not sure how old you are, but if you went to UT in the 80’s, or possibly even the early 90’s, we know some of the same people. Many of these are cliches but I’ll say them anyway. Don’t give up. It’s always darkest before the dawn. With your background at UT and your success there, it shows that you have the ability to succeed in life. Just keep at it. You can always start over. You undoubtedly have many friends. Reach out to them. They really do care. If booze is weighing you down, then go to AA or other program that fits. Find a mentor/sponsor to see you through it. life is beautiful. Just look around. Keep looking for your niche and eventually you’ll find it.
  7. Because these were rich dumbasses. If they had been poor dumbasses that found the Willy Wonka golden tickets they would be brave explorers and their relatives would be rich with Gofundme money.
  8. Paul Prumodme’s coconut shrimp. It was very good.
  9. Really? Those are the free drops they get that we never get at our home course.
  10. Damn. Can’t even see Fowler’s ball in the rough. Hope he doesn’t whiff.
  11. A great leaderboard, except maybe for Clark—just because I haven’t really followed him, seems like a decent guy. I’m happy with any of the leaders winning this.
  12. Yes, I get the point. I don’t particularly care about the gallery. I just want to see good golf. The course played easier this week for a couple of reasons but it’s still a great venue. I’m loving it.
  13. The course is awesome. It’s on a lot of top 20 in the country lists. It’s a great club too. They rarely, if ever, let in entertainment industry people. That’s a huge plus. It’s a bunch of lawyers, doctors, bankers, etc., that love golf. I was fortunate to play it in 2016 and it’s an amazing place.
  14. This. SNPA is still my favorite ale. Just the right weight and bitterness.
  15. Different tax structure than Texas and some other states. Property taxes in California are relatively low. The better country clubs in Houston, for example, pay around $1 million or more per year in property taxes on a value that's probably less than 5% of the value of LACC. So it's apples and oranges.
  16. I haven’t seen it in a while so not sure if they continued making it after the Japanese bought it, but Liberty Ale used to be amazing.
  17. I like it as well. Yeh, the cops should have found the little dipshit brother much sooner. He was hiding a block away from the abandoned stolen Benz in a boat with blood clearly visible on the plastic cover. My big take away is the number of people who recognized one or both of the terrorists and fucking did nothing. Fuck them. The MIT campus cop might not have been killed had someone called the FBI. And fuck the roommates who actually impeded the investigation. Glad they did some time.
  18. I know a guy who was, stress was, a catfish farmer. His pond was about 20 miles inland in Brazoria County. After several years of success, pelicans found his farm and a neighbor’s farm. They ate every last one of the catfish. He said they came in like a squadron of Japanese zeros. The neighbor spent some time in the big house after shooting a few trying to protect his inventory.
  19. Just read some article a day or two ago by some special shark expert saying that sharks are misunderstood. He said there only about 5 shark related deaths a year in the world. Imagine the odds of getting one on video.
  20. The Few. A great book. There may be other books on this as well.
  21. Killing the journalist is one thing, but it’s another to say the Saudi government backed or funded 9/11. Read the Wiki about the official 2004 9/11 report (no evidence of Saudi government involvement) and what subsequent investigations have come up with. It’s by no means clear that the Saudi government had a hand in funding or assisting the 9/11 terrorists. Yeh, I get the Surly tradition of hyperbole. All Baylor folks are rapists and all aggies are sheep fuckers.
  22. But the Saudi blood money!!!! This is hilarious. Corporate America is all over Saudi Arabia (GM, Ford, Starbucks, Dominos, Pepsi, defense contractors, etc.) but you catch shit if you partner with them over a golf deal. Politics 101--demonize your enemy/competitor until you have to make a deal then you get in bed with them for some greater cause. Before the LIV players all declare victory, the letter from Jay says that it remains to be decided how the LIV players are re-integrated into the PGA Tour. That could go several different ways.
  23. Brandel Chamblee must be in a coma, or maybe his head actually exploded.
