  1. Rachio fan here as well. Long story but I needed access to my neighbor’s controller and it had to be outside of his home so I could get to it. I replaced his old Hunter (no wifi) with a B-hyve and it’s a good outdoor unit.
  2. I had a fraternity brother in the early 80’s who was premed. He worked part time at what was then Brackenridge Hospital. He said you couldn’t imagine what some guys would stick up their asses. Lots of coke bottles and live animals.
  3. Aspen Highlands snowfall so far.
  4. I agree as to our vets. My comment was directed at the general civilian population when confronted by a crisis or extreme adversity. Unlike 1940-41 London, if bombs were falling around Houston on an extended basis there would not be any debutant parties. Among the death and destruction of the blitz (around 20k killed in London) the Brits . . . carried on.
  5. Supposed to get dumped on this week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. We and most of the western world are pussies compared to the way we were in the late 30’s and 40’s. Check out the recent book The Splendid and the Vile. The Brits, including Churchill’s daughter, were still going to debutante parties during the blitz. A bomb destroyed the venue of an after party, killing many, so they just went to another bar. 7. The recipe in Cook’em Horns, the cookbook published by the Texas Exes in 1981 is very good. Everyone here should own the book.
  8. 27 county SE Tex area still dropping in ICU and general hospitalizations. Of a population of over 9.5 million, 51 people were admitted to the hospital yesterday with suspected or confirmed Covid.
  9. Got the Moderna booster Monday after the Pfizer shots in late March 2021. Sore arm for two days. But not the low grade fever I had with the first two Pfizer shots. I did feel a little dizzy within 10 minutes of the shot and then it went away.
  10. Greater SE Texas numbers still improving. Only 40 new hospital admits in the last 24 hours. 9.5% of ICU patients are Covid or suspected Covid and 5.6% of general admission beds are Covid or suspected Covid.
  11. Any old guys like me that remember the Original Richmond Drive-In enchiladas? I grew up eating them. From the description of the Dart Bowl enchiladas they sound similar.
  12. I went yesterday and it was fantastic. Very well organized and Memorial Park Golf Course is an excellent venue. It’s a difficult course when it’s set up for a tour event. -10 ended up being the winning score.
  13. Aggies should be down by 30. They’ll come back and win this game.

They left a lot of loose ends. I hope there’s a season 2. Just about every character in the show made one shitty decision after another. Hard to fathom that the attractive daughter would throw away a potentially successful legal career and a nice husband to go back to her shitty hometown to take care of her grumpy father and screw her loser old boyfriend.
  15. Cap Cana is nice. I’ve been there twice and stayed in some very nice condos adjacent to the marina. There are some very good golf courses nearby. Second or third the nod to Presidente beer.
  16. I’m trying to go on Saturday. I saw Scheffler, Ancer and some other pros do a clinic yesterday at HCC. Ancer and some of the other pros are small guys yet they absolutely crush it. Fun to watch these guys hit balls from 15 feet away.
  17. This. Apple pie in all its forms is glorious. Other than the right kind of apple, the key is to not over do the cinnamon and nutmeg. A little spice goes a long way.
  18. Exactly. That’s the point I was trying to make. Many would have expected huge spikes from tens of thousands of people in such close quarters.
  19. DKR Memorial Stadium itself is, of course, outdoors, but there are a ton of people crammed tightly together in concourses, restrooms, suites, beer/food lines etc.
  20. I agree, but the city officials need to assume people are dumb fucks.
  21. Frying a 20 pounder again this year. Damn near fool proof and the quality is hard to beat. I bought one of those turkey fryers that holds exactly 3 gallons of oil and a 20 pounder fits perfectly. It comes out just right in 70 minutes.
  22. I made a similar post on this or another Covid thread in the last couple of months. My kids are over 25 and have been vaccinated (as have I and their mother) but if they were very young it would be a tougher decision. It’s clearly not an extreme or crazy decision to choose to not vaccinate your young children.
  23. Agree on everything but the last thing. Eggnog is awesome. Milk punch too if you don’t want the eggs.
