  1. The people I know who are not getting the covid shot(s) had no issues with the MMR, small pox, polio, and the other vaccines for the them and their children.
  2. Many nurses, for some reason, are avoiding the shots. My father is in the hospital quite often battling the last stages of Parkinson’s and just old age and last week when he was there the folks at Methodist Hospital said that the Memorial system has around 130 nurses that can’t come to work because they wouldn’t get the shot. They were incredibly short staffed.

    As I was waking up from the anesthesia I had the best feelings I’ve ever experienced. I wanted to go back to that place immediately. I get my next one in a couple years and I’m looking forward to it. The prep sucks but it’s not really that big of deal.
  4. This. During sporting events that I follow on an iPhone app I will get alerts on my iPhone about 5-10 seconds before the scoring play airs on YTTV.

  6. It takes a large set of balls to ask someone to move from first class to coach so they can bring a spouse up to first. After I stopped laughing I would have said “you’re kidding, right?”
  7. I'm vaxxed, my entire family is vaxxed and the vast majority of my friends and coworkers are vaxxed. I believe everyone who is eligible should get vaxxed. But I know a great many people who are not vaxxed and they don't plan to get it. Many here will think otherwise, but they are not idiots. They are professionals (lawyers, financial types, etc.) or business owners and they are successful. They have their reasons for not getting vaccinated--some have already had COVID, but calling them stupid or mentally ill is not helpful or correct.
  8. New daily hospital admissions in Harris County (pop. 4.7 million) for the last week beginning July 3: 37, 40, 39, 41, 47, 36, and 33 today. Per Seatrac.org.
  9. I can’t understand litter on a hiking trail far away from roads, but a lot of roadside litter is from trash flying out of the back of open bed trucks. Workers don’t give a shit if the garbage they toss in the back goes flying out somewhere along the way. I see stuff flying out of truck beds just about every time I’m on a Houston freeway.

  15. The people that are really scared of flying just shouldn’t fly. We were on one of my kid’s spring break trips to Mexico, or maybe the Bahamas, and a woman in her late 20s directly behind us whimpered and cried the entire flight. She just could not settle down. Her young husband or boyfriend tried to console her but nothing would help. It’s distressing to hear an adult cry and whimper for three hours.
  16. The OP was clearly in the right. The tougher call is when I’m asked to give up my relatively comfortable aisle seat for a shitty middle seat between two fatties so a mom can sit next to her teen age kids. On short flights I’m happy to do it but on a long flight I generally say I’m happy to move so long as I get a comparable aisle seat.

    This. Nothing in your post deserved Celery’s first sentence. Your post was spot on. We need to say it more often that people are responsible for what they put in their mouth. Saying so is not being mean. I’m all for educating people about nutrition and calories. I learned about that in 9th grade Texas public school in 1977. Have we stopped doing that?
  18. Getting really sick of the rain in Houston. I don’t think we’ve had five days without rain in the last 3 months. I’m guessing we have had 1.5 inches in the last 30 min in 77057 and still coming down.
  19. Ribs and chicken on the egg. Ribs cooked too long but they taste great. Just too tender and fall off the bone. Didn’t have time today for brisket. Chicken is awesome.

  22. Not exactly your point, but those seemingly random caps were probably acceptable at the time. The Declaration of Independence also had some random caps that you would not see in modern English. Adams was well educated and he probably would not have written his wife using improper English.
