  1. This right here. I guess the queue can be part of the overall experience if that’s what you want. It’s just not for me. 15 min is about as long as I can wait.
  2. I did Dry Monday (January 4) this year. It worked out just fine.
  3. My brother worked in Germany for over a year in the late 90’s and I asked him how most Germans viewed the war and Nazism. He said the common view was that Hitler and his cronies were evil and crazy but that Germans are still better than everyone else.
  4. I saw those episodes and the entire series in the last couple of weeks. My view has remain unchanged. War is hell. Regretting not serving in the military is not the same as hoping to engage in a desperate battle.
  5. Yep. Many evil assholes took out their political views on the war against the returning Viet Nam vets, many of whom had no choice. A shameful time in our history.
  6. Growing up my Dad (and therefore I) couldn’t stand Nicklaus. We loved Arnold Palmer for his blue collar roots. Nicklaus was considered too cocky. I didn’t like Tiger until recently because he was too cocky. I love stories of redemption and now I’d like to see Tiger come back and break Nicklaus’s record.
  7. I tear up every time at the end when one of the men recite the famous line from Henry V. I’m 58 and my age group (+/- 5 years) didn’t fight a major war. My great regret in life is not serving in the military.
  8. The late Dick Harmon (Butch’s brother) on his weekly radio show on 610 with John and Lance said Tiger would tip the locker room guys at Champions about $50 each during the Tour Championships that were held there. Most pros, who only made a fraction of what Tiger made, would tip several hundred dollars to each attendant. Tiger has always been a cheapskate.
  9. And there’s the one about the 15 second fart on the set of The Princess Bride. Imagine that on a flight.
  10. If I recall the story correctly Natasha Richardson, Liam Neeson’s wife, fell on a ski trip and hit her head. My memory is that she was not wearing a helmet. She died a couple of days latter.
  11. Fraud aside, loans to or equity investments in a restaurant are risky things. Losing 100% of such an investment doesn’t mean you got fucked over. That said, I am not aware of the facts surrounding the investments made by the posters here.
  12. I’ll be the cynic. I’ve tried several of the honeys mentioned in this thread. They all taste pretty much the same to me. I once tried a jar of orange blossom honey and I might have gotten a hint of orange flavor but it could have just been my imagination. To me, it’s like different brands of granulated sugar. The same goes for many IPAs and many bourbons. It’s possible I have a shitty palate. As for honey, I usually buy local stuff for the hoped for allergy benefits.

    Mad Men

I know it’s not the same thing, but I can’t get fava beans and a nice chianti out of my head.

All of it or just a bite? That’s fucking disgusting.
  15. It’s vodka. Tasteless grain alcohol. It’s what I buy for mixing. High end vodka is all marketing.
  16. Silver Fox was one the courses I played. It was many years ago but it was very good.
  17. So no more fried turkey in peanut oil? I say just eat fried foods in moderation. My downfall is fries. I try to limit them to a couple of times a month.
  18. In the past year or so we transferred a car title to one of my adult children and it took a few weeks to get the title as they said it would.
  19. They aren’t that smart. Whatever (doubtful) loyalty they might lose would soon be forgotten. I’m talking about raising the prices to a more reasonable level, not that it has to come close to the secondary market level. Bordeaux producers have been doing it in a smart way with their wine for many, many years. Vintages for wine are a little different than a distilled spirit, but they have a huge global market as does bourbon.
  20. The producers are morons for not raising prices on what the market sees as a superior product. Why let others reap the reward of your skill?
  21. Check the wheels and make sure they are not slipping. The gears can get worn and if one of the wheels doesn’t turn in sequence with the others it can make the device turn slightly and it will eventually get tied up. That happened to me. It was an easy fix to replace the wheel.
  22. It’s been many years but the course at Crandon State Park on Key Biscayne was nice. It’s close to Miami Beach. The courses at Doral were very good.
  23. Those are not kolaches. They look mighty tasty though.
