    Getting old sucks

My experience as well with both shots last year. The new vaccine came out a few months after I came down with shingles. I was 55.
  2. Major flashback to first year property law class in 1986. Livery of seisin: Snapping of twigs, throwing of clods and boxing of ears.
  3. At some point in 7 years it will be $140. In that same time it may also be $30. Markets.
  4. This. I’ve had homegrown tomatoes that taste like water. Some people over water them. It’s really a fruit. Like a grape vintage, if they get too much water before harvest it kills the vintage.
  5. There may be some further limits to the Texas homestead exemption if a bankruptcy case is filed within 1215 days of the acquisition of the homestead. The 2005 changes to the Bankruptcy Code placed some limitations on the exemptions for relatively newly acquired homesteads.
  6. Being in Houston I can’t recommend an ortho in Austin unless Fondren Orthopedic has an office there.
  7. You might have broken a bone in your foot. I rolled my ankle badly several years ago (with a loud pop) and it caused an avulsion fracture of my 5th metatarsal. Basketball players get this often. IIRC Durant had it. I was in a cast for a couple of weeks and then crutches for a few more weeks. Go to an orthopedic surgeon. He will likely xray it. Then you will know it it’s something broken or just an ankle sprain.
  8. Overall PV10 value or is that just for the PDP piece of it? Of course it depends on the assets, but for the larger deals I come across very little value is given for PUDs and Possibles.
  9. In the 70’s it was a common report by Dave Ward on Channel 13 news of some murder or violent crime in one of the wards. Dave Ward loved to say ward. I’ve lived in the greater Houston area my entire life except for my four years at UT and I don’t know which wards are which. I know a few people who are moving to some of them. Location, location, location.
  10. Go to Goody Goody or Spec’s, but it seems like GG has a better selection in the $15-25 range, and buy pretty much any 2015 or 2016 red Bordeaux in that price range. They are not big Cali cab fruit bombs but in great vintages like 2015 and 2016 most of the cru bourgeois wines are excellent values. Costco usually will carry one or two inexpensive Bordeaux and in great vintages they can be outstanding. The 2018’s will be great as well and the less expensive ones should appear in stores in about a year or so.
  11. Our travertine did fine with our salt pool. I used the sealer Impregnator### (I forgot the numbers) and it did not change the appearance of the travertine and it worked great. If I ever have another pool it will be a salt pool.
  12. Russo’s (or her body double’s) tits had me completely focused on that film hoping to see them one more time. I walked out on Pennies From Heaven in the early 80’s. Only time I’ve ever done that.

My grandmother and mother (both born in Louisiana) often would cheat by adding KB to gravy for a pot roast or other beef dish. But they would never add KB to a roux for a gumbo.
  14. Most of the Polish sausage I’ve had in Texas is not of the fine grind variety like Eckrich. I can’t eat Eckrich and i would not call it authentic Polish sausage. I’ve always considered Polish and Czech sausage in Texas to be mostly interchangeable. They are smoked course ground sausages.
  15. I was going add Upper Kirby to my list, but, depending on the specific area, it could be much more expensive than the other areas that have more 20 somethings living there. I have some friends who have daughters living in Upper Kirby and it's great. They feel like it's safer, but in Houston, like any big city, a few blocks either way and it can become less safe.
  16. Where did he go to college? UT? If he went to school in state he should have friends who will be moving here too. I’d want to be close to my friends. Otherwise, midtown, Rice Military, Washington Ave., Memorial/Westcott would all be great for a young professional.
  17. Chase had no fee checking accounts when my kids were in high school. I think they called them college accounts or maybe student accounts.
  18. I have found that my warm up has no bearing on how well I play that day. And sometimes, like all of April and most of May, no warm up at all produced some great scores for me. I definitely believe that too much time on the range can hurt. If I hit several bad shots in a row and don’t know what I did wrong it can ruin my round before it starts. If I practice at before a round I now try to hit 20-30 balls. And if I hit my driver really well the first time I hit it I’m done.
  19. I have this as well. Works well. I could clip my own hair during the shutdown. Probably not perfect but good enough.

I did the two part Shingrix vac within the last year. I came down with shingles about 9 months or so before Shingrix was available. The doc said even though I had shingles that it can, and often does, come back--and in the same area as the first time. So I got the vacs as soon as I could. edit: And the old vaccine was not very effective and IIRC it was not recommended unless you were over 60. The new Shingrix is recommended for people over 50.

  22. When I built my pool in 2010 one of the builders that gave me a bid said he is not bound to any equipment manufacturer and that he would never use Hayward. Whether I used him or not he recommended Pentair.

Roux is not hard. Use a cast iron skillet and a wisk. Don’t get distracted and keep wisking and you can get a good mahogany roux in 30 minutes. The key is how hot you have the fire. Start at medium high and keep stirring.
  24. This right here. I loved my salt pool and if I ever have another pool I would make sure I built it to accommodate a salt system. That and a good pool sweep and it’s unbelievably low maintenance.
