    USMNT 2022

Don't disagree. In less than a year, he went from competing for a spot on the plane to ggg's unquestioned leader of the back line in the WC. What pisses me off is that an experienced leader CB is readily available who could take some pressure off of Zimmerman and let him just focus on his game yet voldemort insists on Long. It's absolutely baffling

Exactly. He has been repeatedly beaten on set pieces and his form was already declining before Miles Robinson went down. Zimmerman has only been locked in as a starter since Robinson went down and Richards couldn't get healthy. At the end of WCQ, the question was whether Richards could get enough PT to hopefully supplant Zimmerman. In an ideal world, our starting CBs would be Robinson and Richards with Ream and Zimmerman as capable backups. I think Zimmerman would have been fine as the complimentary CB but he is now being asked to act as lead dog in a World Cup with a looming disaster next to him. All that said, Long (and the system that Greggg believes his selection supports) is THE issue. All of Greggg's flaws are somehow perfectly exemplified by his selection of this one player. Overreliance on MLS players, continuing to play a high line without fast CBs, selecting favorites, and an inability to adjust to opponents and changing circumstances. The option to start a capable and experienced EPL CB next to his EPL LB teammate is an unbelievably fortunate opportunity after your starting LCB goes down. The ability to protect your new CB pairing with a double pivot including an in-form EPL 6 in Adams (who so obviously plays better in a double pivot) and a fit-for-purpose Musah is an obvious solution to our defensive dilemma. Just ditch the high line, protect the CBs and play a LCB who has unparalleled chemistry with the LB. OR start two out of form and slow CBs and rigidly adhere to a defensive system (high line) and formation (single 6) that doesn't cater to the strengths of your players. When Aaron Long runs out there against Wales, Greggg's legacy as the worst coach in the history of US soccer will be written.

Zimmerman is significantly overrated by the USMNT fan base but we have no other option. he’s certainly not a strength and is clearly the worst starter after Long and the 9.

The sad thing is that a real manager could come in and clean this shit up in about 10 minutes simply by dropping Gregg’s idiotic system which doesn’t cater to the strengths of the player pool. 4-2-3-1 with Ream at LCB would give us a chance.

We’re fucked regardless with an MLS CB pairing.

Iran could easily beat us. Teremi vs. Long is not a matchup that favors us.

That trailer is awful. No one wants to hear from Lalas or Wahl or about the Trump impact.
  8. Well, not in your neighborhood which has the crime rate of Luxembourg
  9. The poors, particularly poor blacks and native americans, murder the shit out of each other. This is the case throughout the nation regardless of the political party administering a specific geography. The oligarchy is never going to outlaw guns, legalize drugs and revolutionize education in these poor communities so just learn to accept the third world conditions. Nothing will change during any of our lifetimes in a meaningful way because the die has already been cast for every poor black or native american baby. They will receive the same shit education/opportunity as the generation immediately before them and are doomed to the same cycle of gun violence, drugs, murder and incarceration.
  10. Without JSN and Miyan Williams as well. Both should be back for Michigan

Adams and Musah at the double pivot with Aaronson at the 10 and Pulisic and Weah on the wings would be my lineup for Wales. Then bring on Gio against a tiring defense if necessary.

De La Torre is probably out of the WC with a hamstring tear.
  13. Villa should consider Gregg Berhalter for this position.

It's not hard Greggg. Play the best players in their best positions. ---------------Turner------------------- --------CCV----------Ream------------ Dest---------------------------Robinson ---------Adams-------Musah----------- Weah---------Gio/Aaronson-----Pulisic ----------------Pepi/Pefok-------------- Bench McKennie Gio/Aaronson Pepi/Pefok Sargent Acosta Scally Zimmerman

I'm almost looking forward in a morbid way to our collective reaction when eggg releases his lineup for Wales and Long and Jesus are in it.
  16. They've rushed the field many times after beating Michigan without incident.
  17. No problem chief. It's difficult to "act like you have been there before" when the last comparable experience was evidently in 1999.
  18. When was Texas' last win at home against a Top 5 team?

Sargent found his level at the Championship just like Pepi found his in the Eredivisie and Wright found his in Turkey. Pefok also scored goals for fun in the lower leagues (led the Swiss league in scoring last season). Doing it in the Bundesliga is an entirely different proposition. Just ask Pepi. It's great that our other striker options are scoring goals immediately before the World Cup but the international level is much closer to a top-five league in terms of defensive quality. The England and Wales defenses will entirely consist of guys from Top-5 leagues and only Pefok has effectively competed at that level. Greggg is bringing Pepi, Jesus and Sargent though so it is a bit of a moot point. In any event, the fact that Aaron Long is going to start against Wales is a far bigger issue. His defending on Vasquez's winning goal is mind-bogglingly awful. Zero awareness at the critical moment in the game and no pace to compensate for his lack of awareness.
  20. See you next year. Not wasting my Saturday on this bullshit
  21. It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so depressing. So predictable
  22. How awful is OU?
