We already get some of those, but yeah, I think with an expanded field, it will be far worse.

Yeah.  I expect that you can fill in the 16 teams in the knockout round immediately after the groups are announced.

  2. Winner of this tournament will carry a ton of momentum into the 2023 World Cup.  Big game for England today against Norway.  The English media was predictably hyping the English as favorites going into the tournament but they looked miles off of Germany and France in the first round.

betting on the young players only works if those young players are able to get in the majors and win some.  otherwise nobody will ever know if they're actually good or not.

Exactly.  No one watches college/amateur golf and the young guys are going to struggle to qualify for the majors and have almost no chance to qualify for the Masters.

LIV will definitely tweak/improve its product since the current structure is awful but it will always struggle in the US given the number of international events and players (most of whom are has beens).

Most good players don’t play in the fall.  Or play very sporadically.   The guys need an offseason to recharge their batteries and work on their game.  If I was a top 20 guy this would piss me off.

Article was amended to provide that the events will be scattered through the year.

Yup! Ain't that the truth. Nephew is in that predicament. He plays club soccer, but there aren't many D1 soccer schools in Texas which is sad due to the fact that soccer is huge in this state. My brother said that if he wants to play D1 in college he's looking towards the Pac 12 or east coast (although we're encouraging him to look at SMU so we can attend all his home games). Niece also plays club, but could play for UT since we have a women's soccer team.

What MLS Next and ECNL clubs do they play for?

  6. It's pretty funny that the best American they could pull that didn't involve a 9-figure payout is either Kevin Na or Talor Gooch.

I follow professional golf relatively closely and have never heard of more than half of the field (not including such luminaries as Peter Uihlein, Hudson Swafford, Chase Koepka and Bernd Weisberger).  For your average golf fan, the field consists of DJ, Phil, Louis and a few 40-something Euros.

So you'd give up national championships in other sports to have a football season that doesn't even result in a playoff spot? Basically a Herman Sugar Bowl year?

Please, continue to regale us with your wisdom.

Depends on the sport.  Men's basketball and baseball, no.  Everything else, absolutely.

  8. This will only further encourage USWNT players to maintain a death grip on their USWNT positions to the detriment of the progression of the team.

I was listening to a bunch of Wilco this weekend, and I truly don’t understand people who think AM is the worst Wilco album. Just a bunch of bangers there.

Tweedy was AM's worst enemy by always harping on how shitty it was in comparison to Trace and Wilco's next few albums.

  10. It should be fine if it is an adaptation of the book.  GoT got in trouble when it ran out of source material.  Seasons 6-8 were based on outlines of incomplete books and included shit Benioff and Weiss just made up.  Seasons 7 and 8 are clearly the weakest in the series as they moved from detailed outlines and book drafts into very roughly considered ideas.

No Benioff/Weiss + relatively well-regarded book material + massive incentive to reestablish the GoT franchise gives this a chance imo

Lol, wut? Suburban moms are the aggy of voters. They go to their mega church who tells them to be subservient to they're husbands, close their legs, and pray for abbott and friends. This does zero to them, nothing whatsoever. If their little snowflake gets knocked up at 14 they'll find the funds to make it to the nearest blue state and continue judging all those pregnant teenage sluts as though it never happened to them. That's how the right works these days. It's about judging others in the name of your church and feeling superior while being a massive hypocrit. These are the people going to school boards to cry about crt and how the teachers had gay sex in front of the kindergarten class in the name of diversity. Absolute worse case scenario they'll see this and forget about it when an ad on tv for the local theocrat puts a photo of AOC and Nancy Pelosi on the screen. No context, no words, just their pictures, and the Karen in them will get all pissy and vote for the fuckstain candidate who says jesus a lot. We are a failed country, this is just the latest major shift towards complete theocracy. As soon as they get another majority in both houses and the white house, even blue states won't be safe, because they are all about state's rights, until they control the federal government.

I'm not talking about suburban moms in backwater Oklahoma.  Suburban moms are swing voters outside of your megachurch hellscape.
