  1. Let's also remember that aside from the Leicester miracle, the only thing separating the EPL from the complete hegemony of oil is generational managerial genius at giant clubs (Ferguson and Klopp).

  2. With the notable exceptions of Leicester's title and Klopp's reign at Liverpool, English football hasn't been nearly as compelling since Arsenal left Highbury.  Some would say it was headed towards the shitter upon the formation of the EPL or when Abramovich bought Chelsea (both arguments have their merits) but the opening of the Emirates is the dividing line for me even though I didn't realize it at the time.  The United commercialization machine dramatically ramped up contemporaneously and was soon followed by the ultimate sportswashing enabled though Man City's Plastic Dynasty.  Leicester's title and Liverpool's hiring of Klopp saved the EPL from itself but will ultimately prove to be temporary salves.  Without Klopp and Leicester, the history of English football over the last decade is merely trophies filled with oil and the degradation of the giants of English football by vulture American capitalists.

  3. United certainly has some strong attacking options on the bench if Ole wants to bring some players on (Pogba, Cavani, Rashford, Fernandes).

    1) he was on the football team, so to an extent yes it would be the same in my eyes.

    2) his brother is who he is and his last name is what it was, so it's moot.

3)there are plenty of places to go speculate elsewhere.

As stated above, it's not speculation.  People know what happened.  Are you a moderator?

I don't generally watch English or Spanish soccer, by choice, but, was that result expected? Is Chelsea that good this season? They didn't start out very well.

Lampard was awful but even he couldn't fuck up their joke of a group.  Tuchel immediately tightened up the defense and Kante started playing like the best DM in the world again.  It's an extremely strange season with COVID + the aging of Ronaldo/Messi.  It's no surprise that their decline will coincide with the entry into the era of oil money domination.  Thank god UEFA "saved football".  lol

  7. Tuchel is certainly pushing the right buttons but Puli needs to leave Chelsea after next season if he isn't a regular starter and it sounds like he is leaning that way.

  8. Athens is the right answer for Ohio.  Agree with Lawrence over Manhattan and Iowa City over Ames.  Clemson should also be the choice for SC over Columbia and Stillwater over Norman for OK.  Those are the only glaring errors.  NC is a tough one due to the growth of the Triangle but I would probably still go Chapel Hill.

correct - except he will need a successful gig in italy or spain on the way to a big prem side

the english will be very very reluctant culturally to allow an american to gaff a big 6

Disagree.  Spurs would probably hire him today

hope he becomes the USMNT manager during this golden age.  2026 may be the time when these youngsters fully come into their own.

USMNT manager is a significant step back for a manager of a top European club.  If he succeeds at RBL, his next job should be a big EPL team.

White people can get beaten and/or killed twice as often as black people and it still represents a racial disparity. If we were treated equally then white people would get beaten and/or killed five times as often as black people.

And don't forget about the Asians who are even more underrepresented in incidents of police violence!  That said, we will need them to have a shit ton more interactions with police to get their numbers where they need to be.

The Bundesliga is going to continue to be really boring if it's just going to be Bayern getting anything and everything for the rest of eternity. I guess if you're a fan of the rest you're really trying to get that 2nd-4th CL spot because you're never really competing with them for the title.

RBL becomes a threat with the best defense in Europe so Bayer hires their manager and signs their elite CB.

  13. The Glazers have taken $1.3 billion out of United through loans and distributions.

UEFA will need to be very careful in punishing the Super 12 or the entire economic model could collapse.  The transfer system is financed by the transfer fees paid by the Super 12 which literally trickle down through the rest of the pyramid all the way to the MLS (Chelsea buys Havertz from Leverkusen who buy Schick from Roma who buy Reynolds from FC Dallas).
