  1. Plenty of diehard deadheads don't like Space, Seastones, some of the dissonant, aimless Dark Stars that are certainly out there or the 29 minute lovelights.  Some of the psychedelic jamming was the product of some guys who should have been staring at a lava lamp instead of trying to play their instruments while some is absolutely inspirational.

For example, the 10/26/89 Miami Dark Star receives quite a bit of praise (likely as a result of being the longest late era star) despite being unlistenable.  For an example of peak era jamming that I struggle to enjoy, see the 3.28.73 Star.

  2. Texas will eventually shelve the song because the pressure applied by the wokesters will be unrelenting regardless of the conclusions set forth in the report and the dubious claims regarding the racist origins of the song.

Through scholarship befitting a university professor, Dr. Gordon decided that The Eyes is racist and used his influence among Texas athletes to encourage the aggressive pursuit of the cancellation of the song.  Their unquestioning "allies" in the media and university (truly the "simps" in this scenario) have used their positions and influence to parrot Gordon's claims without deigning to investigate their veracity.  The piling on has yielded the assumption that "The Eyes is racist."

A&M and Oklahoma wouldn't be in this position because they would have immediately refuted the claims relating to the song as bullshit.  Texas unsurprisingly took a very different approach and now finds itself in the crosshairs of the woke mob.  I'm not advocating for Texas to adopt an A&M mentality regarding these issues, but the cancel culture playbook is well worn at this point and Texas' more considered approach to evaluating the issue was naive is retrospect.

Yup.  Just a pressing 4-2-3-1.   Advancing in the World Cup will require shielding our CBs.  Brooks is merely adequate at the elite international level and the other CB will be below average.  Although our talent level is rapidly improving, we will still need to rely on the counterattack against good international teams.  McKinnie will be given some license to operate in a box-to-box role while Adams serves as the constant DM shield for the CBs but we will cede possession and look to play on the break against good (not just great) Euro and SA sides.

  4. The Texas BMDs are more than fulfilling their role.  Texas' problem is that the administration has so far been unwilling to entirely implement the model followed by all of the other elite programs in the country.  Texas is certainly catching up but the Hughes fiasco suggests that CDC and others remain inclined to try to compete with our purported peers with one hand tied behind their back.

    Nah. That's a clear red.

It almost appears that he was trying to get sent off immediately. Reminiscent of Gerrard's 38 second red

He grew up in Oklahoma, so I can only imagine the coaching and competition he had/faced. He’s basically had 2 years at U of Virginia, and one at Orlando. All of which he has shown quick progression, but yeah he’s still just needs a shit ton of minute and is a nice lottery ticket for the club that controls him.

Dike was on the state and regional (multistate) ODP teams from middle school on and was personally coached by the head coach of the OKC USL side from his sophomore year in HS on and practiced with pros from a young age.  He also played on the best youth club in Oklahoma (Oklahoma FC) and led his team to the U/19-20 National Championship bracket as a 17 year old where he played against some of the best club teams in the country outside of MLS academies.

In summary, he played club soccer at an elite national level and received professional coaching and played with professional players for years.  He isn't some dude who wasn't able to participate in the inverted American soccer pyramid.

  7. I love Dylan, I love the Dead, I love JGB playing Dylan but I rarely enjoy the Dead playing Dylan.  I was likely scarred by the godawful Dylan and the Dead album and all the Dylan songs they played in the late 80s on tapes my buddies had.
