  1. From 2015-2018, Spieth was 4, 26, 2, and 23 in shots gained tee to green and 9, 2, 48 and 123 in strokes gained putting.

This season, he is and 172 and 70.

Despite his length disadvantage, He was also in the Top 50 every season in strokes gained off the tee until this season where he is currently 203.

    2015: Outstanding all around player

2016: Best putter in the world

2017: Adequate off the tee, one of the best in the world approaching/around the green and adequate putting

2018: Overall game in decline and can no longer putt

He's never hit the ball well... At least not as good as his record suggests. He just made every putt he looked at for about 2 years. Covered up a multitude of sins. Now he's hitting it a little worse and isn't making putts. So this is what you get.

That's not really true.  He is a complete disaster now though.

He just said on Sunday evening his putting is the best it has been in a couple of years.  Golf Channel said he is top 10 in putting this year.

Spieth's problem is that he is 172nd in strokes gained tee to green (J.J. Henry and Kyle Jones territory).  Good luck with that.

He's only 70th in strokes gained putting, so he's not exactly killing it on the greens either.

  4. Agreed on Reed's chances.  From SI's preview:

His last three stroke play rounds have been 78-77-75, prompting his wife Justine to bring swing coach David Leadbetter in to “Team Reed.” And before his victory last year, Reed’s scoring average over his first four Masters was 74.25. Ranks outside the top 100 in strokes gained off the tee, strokes gained approaching the green and strokes gained tee to green.

It could lead to no reduced entry standards for athletes.  Lots of good with that and a lot of bad for high entry requirement schools like Texas.

90% of Alabama's football team couldn't get into Alabama with no reduced standards much less Texas.
