  1. Been through voir dire probably a dozen times. Served on 4 juries; 2 criminal, 2 civil. I've always found it fascinating. But now I cringe when I watch a movie/TV Courtroom scene. One of the civil trials was just ridiculous. Woman owned a horse, and want that horse to be trained. Found a trainer who agree to take that horse's foal as payment. So Trainer starts training. Owner gets mad at Trainer and fires her. Sooooo, did the trainer do enough to have earned the foal. Jury members all agreed that she had. But the instructions were silent on ownership of the foal. wtf, right? Testimony had shown the foal was worth $7000. Turns out attorney's fees, court and other costs were $19,000. So the foal was sold to pay. Also, once I was called into voir dire on a trial on whether a county jail inmate who had attacked a jailer was competent to stand trail. The inmate had a look about him that I can only describe as "evil". Thank God, I wasn't picked for that one.
  2. Grew up in Wichita Falls. Neither of my parents went to college, so there was not affiliation there. First recollection was hearing about how Roger Staubach and Navy would kill Texas. Being a Texan I was glad they didn't. Next recollection was beating Joe Willie and 'Bama in the Orange Bowl. By then I was hooked. My high school had a playoff game against Abilene Cooper the Saturday of the Game of the Century. Riding all the way to Lubbock(?) on a cold, snowy day. Listening to the radio how Texas was down 14-0 . Got to the stadium, and they were playing the radio broadcast over the PA. We all jumped for joy when Texas won. Jumped for joy again when my high school advanced in the playoffs after a tie game. We had more first downs than Cooper, so we advanced. Won the state championship that year. I enrolled in the fall of '73. Sports Illustrated picked Texas to win the MNC. That came crashing down in Miami, when the Hurricanes upset us in game 1. I was at Earl Campbell's 1st home game. I didn't know anything about him, but when he came in, one of the guys with us said, "He's supposed to be pretty good."
  3. And the Texans didn't even start playing until 2002
  4. Since Brett Murphy says that was Bowlsby on Texas, is Bowlsby saying that OU kept him completely informed on what they were about to do?
  5. I may be reading this ESPN Game Summary wrong, but after the Pick Six, Maryland got the ball back, stalled and punted out of bounds at the Tex 10. The Horns first offensive play was: Shane Buechele sacked by Jermaine Carter Jr. for a loss of 9 yards to the Texas 1 On 3rd down we threw an interception.
  6. With a pod system, how would championship game teams be decided? Two with best records? Of 4 pod champions take two with best records?
  7. No shit. Special Session. cant get it on the agenda without governor's approval. And even if they did, there's no quorum with the Ds all in DC.
  8. They are sharing the pain with the players on the field. They're aggys; no one could make up shit that's as stupid as what they actually do
  9. First off as an American I am not all that familiar with the rules of succession in a monarchy, and I suppose each monarchy can be differ. But in this case, Felipe was the heir to the throne, Letizia is his wife. I suspect, she can be called queen because, as a woman, its obvious she's not the monarch (sexist, I know, but monarchy is sexist) In the UK, Elizabeth was the heir to the throne, not Philip. So he cannot be called King. Now I think with Charles and Camilla, its been decided she would not be called Queen. But she was a non-virgin divorcee, so scandalous. Edward VIII had to abdicate because he wanted to marry a divorcee.
  10. That a pretty steep shipping $. I guess its the dimensions that kill it. Reminds me of the early days of Amazon. They had a molded kids swimming pool priced at ~$8. Shipping was $100.
  11. It seems David Dennison got his degree Summa Cum Laude from the Derka school of beating a dead horse.
  12. Got second Moderna yesterday. Not sure whether this morning's fogginess is a reaction to the vaccine or the tequila I celebrated with.
  13. You got sick on the 2nd, but not the first? Got the first shot of Moderna on Jan 22. Sore injection site was only reaction. Shot # 2 set up for Feb 19.
  14. Several years ago, I had a fax to email #. One day I got, via email a fax a producer on the Dr. Phil show thought she had sent to her mortgage company. I was really shocked at how little she made.
  15. Got 1st shot (Moderna) on Friday. No side effects. Injection site a little sore, but only if touched. EMT who oversaw the 15 minute observation period commented that the 10 dose vials actualy had enough for 12 doses.
  16. Wife and I got registered to get the moderna vaccine on Friday. Getting registered was a mess, but we're in.
  17. Not a lawyer, but I worked for an oil company that went from 40 hour weeks to a 9-80 schedule. So you'd work alternating 36 hours and 44 hour weeks. To get around the O, they got creative on defining the work week. The work week was defined as Noon Friday to Noon the next Friday.
  18. For year 1, I know it'll take some time to install new system and a new QB. But there's enough talent there to: Handily beat any team that doesn't have Oklahoma or Iowa St. in its name. Beat Ok St and Iowa St, in well play games. Play competitive game(s) against 0u. Show improvement all season Top 10 recruiting class Do that and we should be in a NY6 bowl. Beyond that is lagniappe for year 1
  19. I twice was talked into one, both times via dealers. They never covered a single penny of repairs.
  20. I've banked with chase for years. Never had such an issue come up. Of course payroll and expense reimbursements were all direct deposit. Very few paper checks, but a few of them were large, and never more than a close of business hold (and even then they made a portion available immediately).
