  1. USC is clearly not as good as last year, but they are not a bad team. They are a slightly better than average team that lost on the road to the #10 team in the country. We have yet to play anyone of the caliber of Standford. We got outplayed, out-coached and should have lost at home to a Tulsa team that went 2-10 last year and struggled to beat Central fucking Arkansas. Given the level of play so far, I am astonished we are favorites. Could we win? Yeah......And nutritionists may determine at French Fries are a healthy snack.
  2. I was at work early on the 18th floor of 1 Allen Center in Houston. Doing a quick check of the news. Saw a headline about a plane crashing into one of the towers. A few weeks before, there had been stories about a small plane crashing into an office building somewhere, so my first thought was "dumb fucking small plane pilots". clicked the link and nothing happened. Tried another link..nothing. It was like the internet was broken. Shortly thereafter they opened up the conference room and on the big screen display as a TV. I walked in just before the tower collapsed. Knees felt weak and just sank down into a chair with my mouth open .
  3. I turned on him middle of the 2nd quarter. Down 27-7 at 7:47 of the 2nd, I texted that I was "ready to call the Tom Herman experiment was a complete failure."
  4. I've heard this said many times, but the first time I heard it was John Mackovic after a solid but unimpressive win over a Rutgers team was would go on to a 0 11 season. Unfortunately for Mackovic our second game was against UCLA.
  5. Tom Herman: "We know how much better we are now than we were probably at any point last year. We didn't show it in the 1st quarter and through the 4th quarter." fify
  6. Gotdamnit. I usually have multiple episodes of a show recorded and they are supposed to be display with a little folder icon. yesterday they were all just gone. Only single episodes and movies showed up. So thinking I had drunkenly deleted them over night I looked to re-record them , but when I clicked to record them, it said I already had them. Turn the damn thing off and a couple hours later when I turned it back on they were back on the List. Fucking buggy UI.
  7. Noticed this for the first time yesterday. Hate it
  8. I assume both are home use rather than camping. If you cook it in a pot or bake it in the over, you can use the Dutch oven. So.... generic type ideas... Stovetop gumbo soups beans posole rojo pot roast stews Oven cobblers fritatas meat loaf cornbread bake bread so seriously, if you have a recipe, try in the dutch oven
  9. Update. Apparently the guy and two workers showed up today. Contractor signed SIL's form stating the reduced scope of work, with a 2 week deadline and a statement that he would provide lien releases. We'll see if he shows two days in a row.
  10. Its not that complicated actually. You just refuse ever admit a mistake because, lord knows you are perfect and have the wisdom of the ages and own the internet. the only thing complicated about it is the pretzel you twist your bad thought process into. You made a simple, yet misleading statement. " Income tax accounts for less than half of federal tax income." I guess you read that in your daily Anarchists Talking Points Memo. Then you cry about "It's way too complicated." Yes the tax labeled personal income tax is less than 50%. But you actually said "Income Tax". You're so full of yourself that you can't see that by point out that when you consider all taxes on income, I actually bolstered your main point which I assumed was that when immigrants are recognized with a legitimate (vague term, I know) status, they pay more taxes that most think about, but being considered "illegal" forces them into an underground economy. But I stand by my statement that payroll taxes are a tax on income...If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, flies like a duck....You want to call it too complicated. but maybe your just an angry simpleton.
  11. And it comes out of your paycheck. No reported income, no payroll tax. The one and only trigger for payroll tax is reporting income. Your saying it isn't a tax on income is ludicrous. But go ahead, wail and gnash your teeth, type diatribes, falsehoods and ladle on the ad hominems. Being angry seems to be your talent.
  12. Policy Basics: Where Do Federal Tax Revenues Come From? Now I would argue that payroll tax is a form of income tax as it is based upon income. so it looks like taxes based upon reported personal income is around 81%
  13. Thanks deadshank, I'll let her know.
  14. I asked her if she was willing to spend a little to get a "strongly worded" letter over an attorney's signature, just to get him to show up, but agreed she'd never recover any $. I was astonished when she said she'd paid him all but retention.....
  15. Sister-in-law lives in a 3-2 house with Mother-in-law.(MIL is 93.) SIL decided to have the kitchen and both bathrooms remodeled and replace ceramic tile in entry-way. Contractor gave her a price and a 45 day time estimate. SIL signed a work-order to do the job. Work started approximate Feb 15. As of right now none of the items are complete. Kitchen is about 95% complete. Master bath is about 40% complete. Ceramic tile in entry-way has been removed it needs smoothing before installing new tile. No work has been done on 2nd bathroom. Basically no one ever shows up for work. The last time anyone did was July 3. As best as I can tell, when they did show, they would show about 2 days a week and then only partial days. SIL will be told they will be there to work on a given day, and then about 9 am she will text him asking for an ETA. Response is usually "on my way now, be there shortly." Then he is a no-show. SIL says she paid everything except retention. (I have no $ figures or percentages). SIL thinks he wants to do the work, but is pathetic at time management. I suspect it is something deeper, like he is flat our lying when he says he'll be there or he has serious legal/financial problems. SIL wants to give him a short list of items he must finish, and then take the rest of the work to someone else. They are supposed to meet Monday, but I doubt he'll show. I come on her behalf to seek the wisdom of the Surlys on what to do next, especially assuming he doesn't show on Monday. On the "plus" side there are probably $1000 in tools in her garage and she knows where he lives.
  16. Started out on the old Austin 360 (?) board with I think became one of the Big 12 boards. Was on HornFans as well as the Shag. I've carried the same user name on all those. Too lazy to think up another one. Never been a prolific poster though.
  17. According to the Daily Mail she was the one doing the groping, not the other way around as her limelight obsessed lawyer would have you believe. I long for her and her lawyer's 15 minutes to end.
  18. Well, it would seem that you and Orangechipper's cousin have something in common.
