  1. #1 They’re saber rattling about trade secrets, not patents. Trade secrets are a lot squishier and potentially more powerful. #2 Quinn Emmanuel sucks. I’ve had a lot of fun kicking those chumps’ asses.
  2. I saw Cultural Stable at Fitzgerald’s in 1985. Great show.
  3. About what I paid you for it. There are plenty available on the used market.
  4. One time, I cut off power to millions of people during the worst extended freeze in recent memory and then blamed it on windmills.
  5. @jimmyjazz sold me a Delta Blues years ago, which is basically a Classic 30 with a couple additional / different features. Phenomenal amp. Maybe the best cleans on any amp I’ve ever owned.
  6. Don't mention it! Also, don’t fuck this up.
  7. @jimmyjazz - Just perusing CL and there are a bunch of options, including a used Tony Bruno (in case you want a like-for-like backup). Peavey Classic 20. Probably fairly similar to the Delta Blues, but 10 watts less power and a smaller speaker. Vox AC10. I’ve never played through one, but I assume it’s similar to my AC15 which I really like as a gigging amp / pedal platform. Speaking of, there’s an AC15 that’s $100 cheaper. Finally, this Nace Pro 18 might be a good option. From video reviews, it sounds pretty good.
  8. In my experience, PRs don’t have a ton of headroom. Might need a DR or a Vox to get cleans at band volume, unless tube breakup is the goal.
  9. I’ve owned both a Blues Jr and a Studio 22. Got rid of the Blues Jr because it couldn’t keep up in a band setting. I absolutely love the Studio 22 for its dirt, but I’ve never been able to dial in a good clean tone. My recommendation would be a Vox AC15. Or if you’re willing to spend just a little more, this Retro King 18 Watt is a killer deal. It’s a clone of the Marshall 1974. They usually sell for $1200 or more. A buddy of mine had one and it is an amazing amp. Only reasons I haven’t pulled the trigger on this one is I’m not playing out these days (so don’t need an 18 Watt amp) and I don’t like the fancy tolex.
  10. Exactly. Those guys spend their whole per diem on shirts from this badass store called Dan Flashes.
  11. Why? Because of the eye patch? Or is it hard to flip pages with a hook for a hand?
  12. Jesus. Relax. Have a drink. Or maybe stop drinking. We all know the GOP sucks. But a beneficent tyrant is not the fucking solution, dude.
  13. Yeah I get it. Congress is full of rightwing assholes. This Congress won’t do the right thing. I don’t disagree at all and I’m no less frustrated by it. But the solution isn’t to shift more power into the hands of the presidency, even though that would be expedient at the present moment. The solution is to do the hard work through elections and lobbying to get Congress to pass helpful laws. That’s how our system is supposed to work. Republicans have been better at it than we have. But I can’t get on board with ditching the entire concept of separation of powers based on nothing more than a childish “BUT I WANT IT NOW AND THEY WONT GIVE IT TO ME!” reaction. Whatever instant gratification we gain will not be worth the bullshit it enables the next GOP administration to impose on their evil whim. tl;dr: think long term.
  14. I haven’t followed this closely but, at a high level, I’m kind of okay with the message that the President can’t forgive federal loan debt without authorization from Congress. Modern presidents have too much unilateral authority as it is. I’m in favor of student loan forgiveness (and generally more fully subsidizing higher education). So let’s lobby Congress to pass a law to that effect.
  15. She should get a pet owl. Or coyote.

  17. So was this just an advisory opinion? It’s been a while since I took Civ Pro and Federal Courts, but that’s a big no-no, right?
