  1. My collie station experience was as a member of the OSU marching band (NERDS!!!) and we were told to keep our equipment close because their band/corp was known to try and steal shit. The corp was later caught trying to steal the OSU flag and were confronted by the male cheerleaders who took it back from them. The corp "leader" then pretended to yell at them for trying to steal our shit but was almost certainly for getting caught. Oh, and the aggy parade went right by us pregame and when the kids with shovels following the horses went by we yelled at them "Way to shovel that shit bro!" or something to that effect. They were not happy with us lol.
  2. More time to spend with his bookie.
  3. Yes, the culture and vibe are better, isn't that enough?
  4. I'm a city guy and loved my 4 years in Stillwater as a college student. Lots of football people are from and like small towns. Stillwater is smaller than some other college towns but everything you need is there and Tulsa and OKC are only an hour away. It's not for everyone but there are people who prefer it to larger cities and towns. And yeah, no fake armies. Boone also started at aggy and transfered to OAMC/OSU way back when.
  5. I haven't taken a deep dive and likely won't but I posted earlier in response to who my top three would be and as far as I can tell from the names being floated out there I went with GJ Kinne Jon Sumrall (Tulane HC) Will Stein (Oregon OC)
  6. That's just media coming out with lists, his name has and will come up a lot for these openings. He's not someone I'm particularly interest in hiring but who knows he could have a big year.
  7. The defense was worse than last year and the OL had some defenders pass untouched. Like literally, our guy is directly in front of theirs at the snap, and a half second later the defender is unabated to the RB/QB. It was hard to even tell on slow mo how it happned. It wasn't just losing those game, we didn't even look like a functioning football team.
  8. As I said earlier, they got the funds for the buyout, I assume those same conversations included NIL budgeting. Word is that AD Weiberg is going to get his contract extension so he likely made this happen over the weekend. The hire will be telling. If it's some no name from DII, it means we don't have the NIL package to attract a good coach. If that were the case, I think they would have just let Gundy ruin his legacy for the next several years.
  9. Failure to adjust to the NIL era. To Saban's credit he at least recognized he didn't care for it and peaced out.
  10. Counterpoint:
  11. Y'all are weird. Him calling frustrated fans last year poor and stupid was far more relevant than the fucking t-shirt.
  12. I think it's highly likely that they wouldn't be able to do this midseason without a donor group having committed to funding the buyout and the same donor group committing to fund an NIL package for the next coach. The AD Chad Weiberg has been on the hot seat too, his contract expired this summer and has not yet been extended, though he's still on the job. My guess is that he did the hard work since Friday making those calls and getting it put together and saved his own position. Some are speculating that AD Emeritus Mike Holder stepped in and got it done in which case Weiberg would certainly be let go later this week. The fact that Weiberg's photo is on one of the official announcements from the school makes me think he got it done including getting some donors on board. All speculation at this point but the Tulsa World reported this morning before the Gundy news that insiders expected a decision on Weiberg by tomorrow.
  13. Yeah, two threads is stupid. Posted in the other thread I think he'll be on an analyst panel as early as this weekend and that will be his foreseeable future.
  14. I had forgotton about the second thing, but my distinct memory of his response to both was really uncomfortable. He didn't like to talk about it, I'm just not seeing him give a shit about politics other than having his own personal beliefs that almost certainly very conservative. He'd make far more money and have a lot more fun on TV talking college football. I bet he'll be on a panel this weekend.
  15. We hired Oregon's pitching coach this offseason, maybe they were buddies, LOL. He's high on my list.
  16. I’m almost certain he was given the retirement option and said no.
  17. Yeah, no fucking way. Wearing that stupid t shirt that one time was about all he needed to learn about politics to stfu. He’ll be interesting talking football on tv.
  18. GJ Kinne Jon Sumrall (Tulane HC) Will Stein (Oregon OC)
  19. Don't want Meacham to serve as interim, find a way to win a few games, and get handed the job. We need a complete reset.
  20. He'll be on TV somewhere. His press conferences are interesting and he knows a lot about the game obviously. Whether you like him or hate him he's still a known personality. No way he enters politics. He could say all the right things for this red state and he'd still be hated by more than half the state because he built his reputation at OSU and not OU. Hell, Cale Gundy has a better chance at being elected, he'd fit right in with today's climate.
  21. We're joining the Big 10 too!
  22. Didn't expect midseason but it was over either way. I assume Meachem will interim and I now have to hope we tank because we need youth and innovation in coaching like Gundy's early years. And to whoever said NIL strategy, yeah, duh, every program needs to figure out solid NIL plans to attract a new coach. Regardless of how it ended, Gundy transformed the program from nothingness to national relevance. One and a quarter bad seasons don't undo any of that, but it was time to move on in the new landscape.
