  1. If CU has another 4 or even 5 win season does the media stop caring about the Coach Prime effect? Will that happen anyway once Shedeur and Hunter are gone?
  2. No way. Big win hangovers are a myth. Oh, wait…
  3. I'm talking about the fact that the teams are ranked, seems unusual to see that many ranked teams play on an opening Thursday. I guess "action" was the wrong word, I agree they'll be blowouts.
  4. I'm surprise OSU-SDSU is on ESPN+. You'd think there would be some interest in seeing if SDSU can pull it off. Don't expect a typical sleepy Gundy v. FCS opener as in past years. He usually treats them as preseason games getting everyone snaps and maintaining just enough distance that the final score isn't a wide margin but we were always in control. He knows who these guys are, reigning FCS champs on a 29 game win streak, FCS Heisman winner at QB, and a team that will be on fire to take down a ranked P4 squad. He's not treating this as a typical warmup game. It's far more likely that we'll blow them out than we lose a close one. Last year was an anomaly without a starting QB and Gundy's strange need to ensure equal playing time between all three QBs. Unlike last year, Bowman isn't new, he has a full season under his belt, and has taken all the starting offseason snaps. Ollie Gordon isn't an unknown who we OSU fans knew had unrealized potential but didn't expect multiple 200+ rushing games. The young defensive coordinator (Nard Dog!) has another season of experience. Not much lost in the portal compared to the year before. Gundy is treating this like a bigtime game, because it really is, despite the FCS badge on their jerseys. I think we win a close one 35-27.
  5. Has the opening Thursday and Friday always had this much action? In addition to CU-NDSU tonight several ranked teams and unranked SEC teams in action. No. 12 Utah v. S. Utah No. 11 Mizzou v. Murray St. No. 22 KU v. Lindenwood (who?) No. 24 NCSU v. W. Carolina Arkansas v. UA Pine Bluff I don't recall that many ranked and higher profile teams on an opening Thursday in the past.
  6. The PAC 12 died because nobody gives a shit about football outside of USC, Oregon, and sometimes Washington. Utah has a strong following, but nobody on the coast gives a shit except for the aforementioned fanbases and only when they play each other. For all their crying, Utah should be happy that they'll be playing programs every week that care and who might tune into their games otherwise because of standings, interest, etc. You're probably right where the money would go. It still sounds shady as fuck either way, I really hope nobody goes that direction. But I can guarantee that if Big XII does it, so will SEC, it's all $$$$$$ anymore.
  7. I don't understand this stuff at all, but I saw a discussion on another page that the PE payout would come for the Big XII in 2031 when there is a new contract that pays more. First, the contract will be more because sports media contracts have been exploding for 20+ years now (and live sports one of the only areas left where advertisers are guaranteed a large captive tv audience). Second, and more inline with an "investment" view, the upfront PE money would be expected to improve the product and interest for the Big XII caliber teams through better stadiums, better gameday activities, better coaches, and additional coaches and staff to navigate the portal and NIL, etc. That made a little bit of sense to me from a very basic perspective.
  8. I remember during some Bedlam games hearing the announcers say "Gabe Ikard" and thought they were saying "gay biker." CSB, fuck ou.
  9. Go back further to Reagan and his embrace of the "moral majority" where being a democrat was not only wrong on policy but literally evil in the eyes of god, which of course was a distraction for trickle down economics and the ensuing economic inequality that saw nearly all of our economic gains consolidated at the top. I think Rove was also the one who coined the "mainstream media" as a pejorative so that anything they did that was reported as negative to the economy or rights was just "fake news" (the later catchphrase for the concept). “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” Lots of bastards to share the blame for where we've ended up, and none of them realize it, or care. My sincere hope is that sometime in the near future one of these people has a come to jesus revelation and lays it all out and apologizes for letting their political ambitions go so far as to result in political violence and the death of objective truth.
  10. I'm hopeful of the first, but fully convinced of the second. They've already decided it was Biden's "woke" Army and he is making it political, i.e., "Election Interference!!" If shitting on McCain and the Medal of Honor didn't make a dent, nothing will. He could take a dump on the Grave of the Unknown Soldier and they'd say he's fertilizing the lawn. He's still polling in the 40s which is an absolute abomination and slap in the face to those who have died in service to the country which they all know hate and want to see abolished in favor of a Christo-fascist dictatorship. That isn't even hyperbole anymore, they've been saying it out loud.
  11. Maybe some, but 14%? Thats ludicrous, especially with brain work now out.
  12. It’s the Dallas Cowboys, always the All Pro QBs fault. Just replace him with a rookie, easiest position to draft, never a miss. I honestly hope he walks for his sake, really unfair that he has to play for such trash coaches while taking all the blame from his own fanbase.
  13. He was also good at putting that fat kid in his place at Wonka's factory.
  14. I get the nuance, but why are they saluting her since she's not CiC?
  15. Was it RJ Young? That dude suiuuuuuuuuucks.
  16. I'm sure they're circulating pictures of Biden and maybe Kamala at Arlington. Of course they were there as part of their duties and President and/or Vice President, but none of them give a fucking shit about intellectual honesty.
  17. Donald Trumps disrespects military heroes. News at 11. They don't fucking care.
  18. OU did get a significantly harder SEC schedule than UT, but welcome to the new era of division-less mega conferences. Enjoy that money to console yourselves ou cunts.
  19. It was Juneteenth. I’m not sure who convinced him but the rally was moved from that Friday which was actual Juneteenth that included a big festival on Greenwood and a national broadcast of festivals across the country, to the next day.
  20. Definitely a good election night for Tulsa. The current mayor isn't maga, not even close, and I and other young(ish) Tulsans (at the time) supported him against Dewey Bartlett who was an old bastard, a true partisan oil rich Republican. The mayor governed as a true centrist and likely cost himself a political future because the magas around here hate him for being too woke for things like being nice to immigrants and supporting liberal leaning city council members who did good work. He also didn't attend the Trump rally during Covid (the one that killed Herman Cain) although it did piss off a lot of his supporters like me for allowing it to happen at all (although I'm nuanced enough to know how difficult that would have been even if he wanted to turn away a sitting President). The fact that we're now guaranteed a registered democrat at City Hall is just further progress. Brent VanNorman hasn't even live in Tulsa very long (some say he doesn't really live here at all) and thank goodness his maga ass was told to go the fuck away. The liberal and left leaning city council candidates mostly won too but that's been trending for at least a decade now. I hate that we win only by slim margins in the city and are drowned out by the rural maga fucks at the state level but I've said before that my midtown Tulsa bubble is the only reason I can tolerate living here as long as I have, a lot of really good forward thinking people are here doing good work.
  21. Take it to the streets y'all. Winner gets Jake Paul on PPV.
