  1. See, I disagree we were “a tick better than mediocre” on April 8. I think Garcia/Urquidy/Alvarez/Altuve injuries and the Baker season-long stumblefuckery resulted in a 95-100 win team winning 85-88 games.
  2. Absolutely. It was always going to be annoying to have the giddy baseball media write the obituary, but it’ll be infuriating now because the death was self-inflicted. And it does go all the way back to Crane dicking around with the GM search last fall/winter. As an organization we found the recipe for success in the last decade for the first time in our history… and have now apparently decided to actively avoid using it. And instead we put our full trust in the guy who’s been fired four times because he never won anything. At least we’re getting the results we deserve.
  3. Maybe Chas is in the doghouse because he’s the only guy in the organization that’s showing any sense of urgency. Can’t have that.
  4. I don’t hate Machete for being terrible at all. I hate Baker for being too stubborn to acknowledge it and for hurting the team as a result.
  5. The league is batting .238 against Holmes this year. It was .196 last year. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/holmecl01.shtm If the Astros’ analytics department really had Jon fucking Singleton hitting .275 against him, the whole organization is more fucked than we thought. Seems much more likely to me that the toothpick-chewing moron just didn’t understand the analytics, or just made shit up for the sycophants to parrot all night Seems like that part worked, too.
  6. I was surprised by that too. Houston, Dallas, and Austin news stations just had the garden-variety “hey, try to conserve this evening” stories posted, while the city of San Antonio was sending out emergency alerts to cell phones saying “Be prepared for power outages beginning at 6 p.m. Outages will be in 15-minute intervals.” Did the SA leadership just overreact? Did they misinterpret what ERCOT was telling everyone? Or did ERCOT tell SA that it was first in line for blackouts?
  7. Baker apologist should post the splits vs righties and explain why Maldy hit for himself there.
  8. As we approach 35 consecutive days of 100+ in Austin, just a quick reminder that plenty of morons in this state are fond of the saying, “if you don’t like the weather in Texas, wait five minutes, it’ll change.”
  9. But have they had conversations about it?
  10. Yep. It’s been that way for me since last season iirc. Haven’t even tried recently.
  11. Given how 2023 has played out, we can safely conclude they don’t place much of a priority on getting defense from the catcher either.
  12. Need to keep momentum into the break. We followed up the 5-1 trip to Atlanta and Tampa with 3-8 against Philly/SF/Sea. Hoping for at least 4-2 for the rest of the week.
  13. Our real All-Star will be there though.
  14. So Maldonado catches our two aces and we give up 11 combined, even with his sorcery behind the plate. Then Diaz catches our rookie and Montero (of all people) against the same team, and it’s a shutout. Man, if only Yainer knew how to handle this pitching staff…
  15. I’m just grateful Brown and Maldonado have had some time to get acclimated to each other thanks to Dusty’s wisdom and foresight. Otherwise yesterday could have gotten ugly.
  16. Maldy has called a perfect game. Brown just keeps making mistakes.
  17. 100% chance that Dusty believes this.
  18. Beautiful post, but just wanted to add… They won 47 in 2017-‘18 when Kawhi was being a giant bleeding cunt distraction. They then won 48 the next year, when he was in Toronto. Of course this little detail only strengthens your argument.
