  1. Maybe technically true, but 8 Senators (including Cruz) and 139 reps voted to overturn the election results.
  2. Yes and no. Breaking the law should be punished and not by vote. But yeah, supporting the lawless one blindly is of course not a good thing.
  3. Not the point. The GOP has figured out that they can crime spree indefinitely. And nobody is going to punish them, but there will be sternly worded letters of concern I'm sure.
  4. Sorry, dog, but I'm not talking about the GOP being hurt or not. I'm talking about a person committing the same crime he is under investigation for by a Grand Jury in Georgia. While being investigated by Congress for leading an armed insurrection against the peaceful transfer of power. And we're told 'just wait, the DOJ will do something some time. Maybe." OK. In the meantime he gets to go around committing more crimes.
  5. Wisconsin official says Trump phoned him last week to pressure him to change election results | The Independent Just last week. Sure, take your time, let him roam free. Let's see how that works out.
  6. Spoiling some scenes there, bossman. Esp that first clip which I didn't see coming when I watched it.
  7. Just watched it. That movie is a damn party.

  15. House I bought here had no AC installed. Got the you don't need it from some, some who smiled with that 'good luck' smile. Wanted the house/area bad enough to not care. The first summer was fine. Maybe about one week where I would have enjoyed AC, but still nothing any Texan couldn't deal with. Last summer's heat wave changed my mind on that and AC was finally installed last November. And of course, we've had a typical PNW moderate summer this year (so far). No serious fires/smoke near us so far this year, either, unlike during the heat wave of last year. anyway, yeah. If you do move, never trust the 'you usually don't need it' crowd. You do.
  16. Edit: I'm a poor reader. This year has so far been moderate with cooling temps at night on the few 'high' days that most on this thread would laugh/cry at.

  18. Amid climate change and conflict, more resilient food systems a must, report shows | CU Boulder Today | University of Colorado Boulder The idea of 'more resilient food systems' is interesting to me, and I'm curious as to what that looks like.
  19. I'm staying in the States. In terms of this discussion, I don't see New Zealand discussed as much now and I get kind of curious as to why that is. Way back when I fantasized about leaving I know they had a tech worker shortage and it was a way to get in. English speaking and from all the pictures (I have never been) it sure seems like a gorgeous place. Mountains and beaches. Seemed to handle Covid well. And my right wing Father during the Cold War days used to tell me that was the safest place to be in terms of nuclear war....
  20. I can't answer from first person experience, but can tell you it definitely was hard on my kids when I moved them out here. Kids up to an age/point are oblivious to things like 'it's too hot' or politics. And they don't care about your epic scenery. Mine were 10 and 8 during the move. The 10-year-old took it pretty hard. Due to timing, we also left after the first semester of his 5th grade year. I was not going to move them after Middle School started for them. Those first few months were rough, and then just as things were getting a bit better, Covid happened and the isolation got bad. Remote schooling was not good for them, either. That said, things got better. They've both told us they're happy with the decision. But it took time to get there. The other thing that helps is happier parents are better parents, imo. So, while they didn't understand all our reasons, they didn't get 'grumpy Dad' anywhere close to what they got in Texas.
  21. Aware of their origin. At some point when a band relocates to Austin the city tends to claim them. https://www.statesman.com/story/entertainment/music/2021/09/10/austin-band-heartless-bastards-delivers-career-best-album/5759387001/
  22. This. Also, pretty sure the SC is going to just pick the next president ruler for us anyway.
