  1. Right after I got the new board it decided to be winter again. So I got those 'SkaterTrainer' things which are essentially rubber blocks you put on the wheels to stop the board from rolling while practicing. Landed my first ollie ever in my life at age 52 this past Saturday. I'm happy. Going to get a bit more practice with it before I decide to try it without the trainers on.
  2. Ah, I was responding to the tweet I quoted. I didn't read an article. My point was the tweet and Biden's statement both had 'shoot them in the leg.' Both are stupid statements, imo.
  3. Biden said the same thing. Not 'both sides' , just interesting.
  4. I don't remember much of this one anymore. I do remember it being eye opening for me at the time in my life when I read it.
  5. The kid came too close to spilling the beans for their comfort , and does nothing for them that someone else can do just as well. With Trump the R’s got everything they wanted. Tax cuts for their clients, packing the courts, e.t.c.
  6. I've been a cord cutter for about 13 years now. MLB has made it more and more difficult to get around their blackouts. I had YTTV just for the baseball playoffs last season and really liked it. However Root Sports is only on fubo.tv. Thought I would give it a go but the cheapest plan I find with Root on it is 70 bucks a month. Seems steep.
  7. using that word should get you temp 'vacation' around here. i'm not joining the rest of the argument.
  8. went to a local punk/hardcore show last night. don't get much around here, so have to support when you do. Fun show "Corvus" "Foes"
  9. I should have said "can be" instead of 'is' now that I re-read my badly written screed. Oh for sure. But the religion itself generally (and I'm going with the predominant ones in the US here) relies on a suspension of disbelief or skepticism at some point. I think that can be a dangerous habit. But that's me.
  10. Haven't finished the whole study yet. I am very much admittedly inserting my own opinions regarding faith and politics into the rest of it.
  11. No way to discuss it w/o offending those who are religious I suppose. Not saying all religious folks are conspiracy theorists, by the way. But I do think religion is a hinderance to rationality. And while I know you're using an example, trusting something that can be tested out to be true or false is not the same as using faith to cover for anything that can't be proven. Which was my intent in use of the term. Borrowing from a comment I saw on this , "It isn't any more complicated than a willingness to believe something because you want to, not because evidence suggests it is truth." Religion actually commends you on believing without evidence. See Doubting Thomas story as but one example.
  12. Oh man I thought you knew. I'm sorry to report in all seriousness that Attila is no longer with us. He passed away in September of 2021. I believe it was a heart issue and it was sudden. If you want to PM me for some details I can get them to you.
  13. One of the many reasons I don't see us getting better. We all bemoan facts not mattering. IMO, that extends straight from a belief in a sky god and an unerring book (full of contradictions) that is somehow our guide. "Faith" is a problem that is never going away. https://www.psypost.org/2022/04/people-who-endorse-conspiracy-theories-tend-to-be-more-religious-and-this-may-be-due-to-ideological-overlap-63020
  14. I have no idea what that means. I probably don't want to know, honestly. Edit: Looks like you explained it, I guess. Not something that is all that big where I'm at in Oregon. And any of those 'separatist' types aren't really going to be people I hang out with on a regular basis.
  15. Yeah, I uh, don't recall that kind of thing. I guess I was thinking more of his postings in the "I'm an alcoholic" thread, which I would occasionally follow as many in my family struggle with alcohol.
  16. Technically Spy's boy, but glad to read it.
  17. Sure. But they tend to be more vocal on the internet while in person gladly accepting all the money brought to them by those same ex-Californians. Hatred of a generic 'type' is easy. But not sure what this had to do with my little attempt at humor.
  18. Nobody lives in California anymore. That's why the real estate there is so cheap.
  19. I do have to quickly confess that my hip hop listening is random and sporadic. I'll see something on reddit, or I'll read an end of year list, or maybe some mention on a music site. So I can't offer a substantial critique like someone such as yourself, ztejas, shadow_operative, or others here could. It just either clicks for me or it doesn't. I also find I often may not enjoy something on first or second listen and then at some random time interval later I'll find I like it. I think the production on this one is what draws me in. Not groundbreaking or anything, but I just dig it. So for me, a good listen. Also, I can make out everything being said. As I age I find that helps with whether I like something or not.
  20. Took a peek. Repeating as always but the group that cries the most about getting political, well, you know. That's the second time lately I've noticed Cajun not being the poster I recall him as being from the other site.
  21. I guess if I were in a business model that seriously relied on Twitter I'd have some concerns. But overall I find the communication style of Twitter to be something I have been mostly dis-engaging from as a whole. Certainly enjoy random humorous tweets that get posted here. But often I find I'm clicking on the link to the story within a tweet. Which means someone could just as easily bypass Twitter and just post the link to the story itself. I have not had a Facebook account for quite some time, and was already very, very rarely going to tweetdeck to check my curated feeds. As to Zuckerberg, Murdoch, Bezos, Musk, I root for the guillotines every time. Always pulling for the underdogs. To do that I think we would have to go further back and go to things like Citizens United (and that one case after which everyone says was effectively worse, but I forget its name). We have been aware of being batteries for the Matrix for some time. Time and again we have seen how we are all already under corporate control, and there isn't a damn effective thing we can do about it that I have seen. The entire system is rotted out, imo, and even certain 'core' ideas and tenets imo don't make sense in 2022, but that's another discussion. All that said, I still confess to browsing Instagram for hot model action snowboarding and action sports clips. Just don't read the comments. Ever.
  22. I bought a refurbed Voyage in 2017. Still on it. Bought an 'origami' cover for it in 2018. It absolutely meets my needs, and I prefer it to the paperwhites I've seen. Think I've become used to the way it 'fits' for me. Never knew of this site, what handy link. Thanks for that head's up. Looks like they have a Voyage on there for $55. Tempted to buy it as a 'back up.'
  23. Disappointing that “Doomed” isn’t an option.
