  1. May I say that last sentence was truly great and I fully intend to steal it.
  2. Fair enough, I wasn't sure on it, so hesitated to possibly be promoting something false. Felt the idea of the tweet overall was worth it.
  3. Yeah, I hate that I'm going to visit friends and family in Texas this summer and contribute at all economically to that State. But that being said, when they go after this on a Federal level in a few years things will sure get interesting.
  4. Cool.
  5. Thank you for this. I always had a problem with the 'just vote' responses but I couldn't adequately elaborate quite why. You put it in an eloquent manner I can use.
  6. I believe 'highest mortality' is up for debate, but the rest is true.
  7. Religions are the cloak for why we're discussing the revocation of women's right to choose what happens in their own body this morning. And why many are guessing gay marriage is next on the chopping block.
  8. In the realm of rock/pop, this one for sure.
  9. Right after I got the new board it decided to be winter again. So I got those 'SkaterTrainer' things which are essentially rubber blocks you put on the wheels to stop the board from rolling while practicing. Landed my first ollie ever in my life at age 52 this past Saturday. I'm happy. Going to get a bit more practice with it before I decide to try it without the trainers on.
  10. Ah, I was responding to the tweet I quoted. I didn't read an article. My point was the tweet and Biden's statement both had 'shoot them in the leg.' Both are stupid statements, imo.
  11. Biden said the same thing. Not 'both sides' , just interesting.
  12. I don't remember much of this one anymore. I do remember it being eye opening for me at the time in my life when I read it.
  13. The kid came too close to spilling the beans for their comfort , and does nothing for them that someone else can do just as well. With Trump the R’s got everything they wanted. Tax cuts for their clients, packing the courts, e.t.c.
  14. I've been a cord cutter for about 13 years now. MLB has made it more and more difficult to get around their blackouts. I had YTTV just for the baseball playoffs last season and really liked it. However Root Sports is only on fubo.tv. Thought I would give it a go but the cheapest plan I find with Root on it is 70 bucks a month. Seems steep.
  15. using that word should get you temp 'vacation' around here. i'm not joining the rest of the argument.
  16. went to a local punk/hardcore show last night. don't get much around here, so have to support when you do. Fun show "Corvus" "Foes"
  17. I should have said "can be" instead of 'is' now that I re-read my badly written screed. Oh for sure. But the religion itself generally (and I'm going with the predominant ones in the US here) relies on a suspension of disbelief or skepticism at some point. I think that can be a dangerous habit. But that's me.
  18. Haven't finished the whole study yet. I am very much admittedly inserting my own opinions regarding faith and politics into the rest of it.
  19. No way to discuss it w/o offending those who are religious I suppose. Not saying all religious folks are conspiracy theorists, by the way. But I do think religion is a hinderance to rationality. And while I know you're using an example, trusting something that can be tested out to be true or false is not the same as using faith to cover for anything that can't be proven. Which was my intent in use of the term. Borrowing from a comment I saw on this , "It isn't any more complicated than a willingness to believe something because you want to, not because evidence suggests it is truth." Religion actually commends you on believing without evidence. See Doubting Thomas story as but one example.
  20. Oh man I thought you knew. I'm sorry to report in all seriousness that Attila is no longer with us. He passed away in September of 2021. I believe it was a heart issue and it was sudden. If you want to PM me for some details I can get them to you.
  21. One of the many reasons I don't see us getting better. We all bemoan facts not mattering. IMO, that extends straight from a belief in a sky god and an unerring book (full of contradictions) that is somehow our guide. "Faith" is a problem that is never going away. https://www.psypost.org/2022/04/people-who-endorse-conspiracy-theories-tend-to-be-more-religious-and-this-may-be-due-to-ideological-overlap-63020
  22. I have no idea what that means. I probably don't want to know, honestly. Edit: Looks like you explained it, I guess. Not something that is all that big where I'm at in Oregon. And any of those 'separatist' types aren't really going to be people I hang out with on a regular basis.
  23. Yeah, I uh, don't recall that kind of thing. I guess I was thinking more of his postings in the "I'm an alcoholic" thread, which I would occasionally follow as many in my family struggle with alcohol.
  24. Technically Spy's boy, but glad to read it.
