  1. Based on my experience with my elementary age daughter testing positive and exhibiting no symptoms I could see this as well.

  3. Speaking of sports, it seems the NFL has had 75 players test positive this week. From my understanding many of those would be asymptomatic as the NFL proactively tests. That kind of thing always makes me wonder how many have had it and will never know.
  4. I guess I'd like to see numbers and rationale on that. The doctor in this thread seems to agree with me, btw. There is no percentage you can actually accurately assign, correct? Again, a room full of people all who have done some physical exertion. Some sitting at the bar for hours. Others maybe in and out. It just seems silly to say that somehow there is a reduction in harm based on an incredibly high amount of arbitrary decisions.
  5. Sorry dude, but you didn’t answer my question at all. Is the spread limited by how long I do or don’t nurse my beer? I mentioned nothing about being inconvenienced.
  6. I mean, maybe. I haven't been inside such establishments all that much for about two years.
  7. Sorry you got it. Hope it stays mild as hell. My taste and smell still fluctuate from regular to non-existent. But at this point I'm grateful to know I won't be heading to any ICU due to Covid. And I'm grateful that you won't either.
  8. Edit: I disagree. My previous way of putting this sounded asshole-ish. Sorry.
  9. Dude, really? So people sitting around a bar eating, other in the area eating food. All with masks off. But oh, they put it back on when they're done. That will make a difference? Explain.
  10. Now for my last bump for the day. I was at the ski resort bar this afternoon because for me, everything is back on the table. Vaxxed, recently got over Covid. But I still couldn't help but notice the conflicting signals in place. According to signage all over the bar, keep your masks on unless you're eating or drinking. So dutifully buzzed snow sports enthusiasts take off their masks to eat and drink. Then put them back on to go the restroom. Or to converse with the other mask-less who are still finishing their meals. What's the freaking point? At that stage, not to sound like a covidiot, why even ask folks to wear masks? I honestly think it would be better expressed if they just said "Hey, if you're concerned, you should probably just not come in. Otherwise, hope you're vaxxed. Enjoy!"
  11. This isn't necessarily aimed directly at you, as I like you as a poster. This hopefully comes across as non-combative. I see the 'let the insurance companies get 'em' idea tossed about a lot online (well, reddit anyway). That idea doesn't sit well with me. I don't feel like I get to decry what I see as the evils of the medical insurance industry while at the same time cheering that same industry on to 'sick 'em.' From bankruptcy due to cancer to people who die because they can't afford insulin our system is broken. Broken for middle class and below at least. While I loathe and detest the anti-vaxx movement, I have to fall back on 'two wrongs don't make a right.'
  12. I tend to just throw them in, everywhere, you know.
  13. I appreciate the knowledge drop.
  14. In the 'this could be very good news' category. https://thehill.com/changing-america/well-being/longevity/583782-new-study-finds-serious-covid-19-infection-could-be Wonder if anti-vaxx crowd would take it.

  16. That Atlantic article sounded like a more articulate version of the social media crap you find in the hermancainaward subreddit. I think these things annoy me more right now because when I tell certain folks I had Covid, they all of a sudden can't wait to tell me how they don't wear masks. That they party and live it up, e.t.c. and look at them, no Covid! Irks me, but I don't have much to say to them.
  17. According to reddit, today would be his birthday:

  19. I'd let ya'll film me out here in Bend. But I'm not in the age bracket they seek with these things. Also, a good chunk of Bend residents have the 'don't move here' attitude that a good chunk of Austin folks have. So my neighbors might turn violent on me. I don't think my story is all that compelling, though.
  20. Maybe I'm redefining my definition of young as I age, darn it.
  21. An outlier to the 'only the good die young' aphorism.
  22. Good read. Not a happy one, but a good read. https://www.newyorker.com/science/medical-dispatch/in-new-mexico-the-pandemic-rages-on
  23. Sorry for your loss.
  24. Sorry dude. Let me join the chorus of hope it stays mild. If so, getting your quarantine time done in-between the holidays is better than losing actual holiday plans. If you had any, that is.
