  1. Your post indicated a concern with fascism. I took the opportunity to have fun with that seemingly new found concern. This last reply indicates we should just let it go, because it wouldn’t be as funny from here on out.
  2. Are you asking if there have been protests about NZ borders and if we have been to them?
  3. One week now of no taste or smell. Oh, diarrhea as well. Have accidentally lost 6lbs so far. Didn’t need to lose the weight. Very occasionally I can inhale through the nose sharply while positioned right above coffee grounds or peppermint oil and catch a faint, muted whiff. Keep hoping that’s a sign the senses will return.

  5. Thanks, I knew it wasn’t a force field. I especially know that now. Barring a different directive from my PCP, I will be waiting until February for it, at minimum. I keep reading “less likely to get infected. “ That one honestly doesn’t play well with me anymore. The less likely to spread/go to the hospital kind of does.
  6. Right. I guess I don't know enough about someone who was vaccinated like myself and caught the virus. Meaning, how long will my immune system be boosted already? But then I thought, well, if 90 days, that puts me February. And coincidentally enough if I was counting 6 months from last dose, that would also put me in February. So maybe that's my answer. At this point definitely asking PCP of course.
  7. WHO calls special meeting to discuss new Covid variant found in South Africa with ‘a large number of mutations’ https://www.cnbc.com/2021/11/25/who-calls-special-meeting-to-discuss-new-covid-variant-from-south-africa-with-large-number-of-mutations.html
  8. Curious about the opinions from some experts on here as well. I've seen everything from 90 days after infection to two weeks. I have also read some anecdotal stories on r/COVID19positive from some pour souls who were caught it again 90 days after their first infection. I'm also starting to wonder about the booster purpose in general. Is it the same 'keep you off the ventilator' purpose as the first vaccines were? Because if it is just to 'keep you from catching it' then given my experiences that doesn't have much of a chance.
  9. Related to the thread title, uh we haven’t had “Democracy” for some time. The two party system is the illusion of choice. We live in a corporate oligarchy. Absolutely one side has fascist tendencies and expresses them openly. And both sides vote for a military budget that any fascist would love while telling you with a straight face what they cannot afford to do to help you.
  10. I'm one of the anecdotes Anastasis is mentioning. J&J/Moderna with the last Moderna shot in August. Jokes aside I knew I wasn't invincible, but I really did hope that by being vaxxed in combination with the fact that I exercise more caution than many folks would somehow help me slide on by. I really feel in person school before kids 5-11 could get their shots was a mistake. I'm also wondering if son playing basketball was a giant error on our part. There was one game last week where daughter stayed in the car instead of going into the gym w/us to watch. At that game, wife and I wore masks and sat in the corner away from everyone else. Yet, three of us, all vaxxed, came down with it while daughter so far is still testing negative. Maybe coincidence. I know the vaccinations are good. I know staying out of the hospital (so far) is great. But it is still a bummer in many ways. Wife had to notify so many groups and folks, and you can't help but feel like a bit of a leper pariah. And I'm going on day 4 of no smell or taste. Last night I started getting random chest and back pains. That was fun. I'm also probably in extra whine mode and this is maybe my only social media vent place, so forgive me for carrying on.
  11. The complete lack of smell and taste is messing with me. No labored breathing. Sometimes feels like my nostrils are burning. Mucinex Day/Night regimen helping with headache and sleep. Some may remember, but as a reminder I had the J&J in April. I followed that up with Moderna and went ahead with a two shot regiment (last shot in August) of that b/c at the time the fear was that J&J wasn't effective against Delta variant and booster talk was already being mumbled about. Disappointed I didn't become invincible and my cell reception still sucks.
  12. Just in time for vacation I tested positive today. Cold like symptoms started Friday night. Then noticed last night the lack of smell/taste. Thanksgiving now fucked, but in the long run grateful I'm vaxxed.
  13. To be fair, I probably flew 2-3 times a year at most. And 3 would be a high end. And for the last few years at least one of those flights would be to where I wound up moving. Wife flew once last year for business.
  14. Except that if OJ had walked down a street with an assault rifle to a protest after bragging that he wanted to shoot protestors he might not have lived to make trial.
  15. I remember when Golden Corral was not the crazy buffet thing it is now. I couldn't honestly tell you if it was crap or not. I would guess based on what the chain became that it was crap, but High School small town Texas me didn't have much discernment in the way of "good food." Back then our favorite lunch was seeing how much Mr. Gatti's pizza and soda we could cram down our gullets during our 35 minute lunch breaks. I also thought Bennigan's was a fancy restaurant.
  16. Bachelor's opening postponed until Dec. 3rd. Maybe only affects me on this board. I dunno.
  17. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/elijah-mcclain-settlement-aurora-to-pay-family-15-million/ This story brought me to tears the first time I read it. Still kind of does.
  18. I swear having a goatee is a pre-existing condition.
  19. Golden Corral a few times a week should do it.
  20. Thanks, dude. She got better about two hours ago and is back to her usual self.
  21. Mine could not wait and we all celebrated. This reaction has of course tempered the mood. And there will be a pediatrician conversation or two before getting shot number two. All the anecdotes point to the second shot being the one with bad reactions, so this is causing trepidation for us all. Although right now just want her to get better.
