  1. I don't mind watching a few tantrums, as long as they all stay just short of 'cause'.. I want to enjoy the Jimbo Era for a good long while!
  2. Never actually went to an aggy game, but 3 times in my life I actually rooted for them to win. The first time was way back in the 70s when they went up to play Michigan. And I had some youthful, and stupid notion of them helping our conference reputationally. Michigan whipped them 41-3. The second time was because they were playing ousux. Only mercy, and a continually running clock held ousux down to 77 points. The last time was their cotton bowl game against LSU, and I frankly don't have any recollection of why I would have wanted them to win. LSU motor-boated them, of course. Obviously, when you're talking about aggy embarrassments, you get lost in the sheer scope of volume, but these all have to rank high. I may just have an aggy-magic touch. I only wish I could make myself root for them more often...
  3. yeah, I skipped a little further.... like entirely. But I think I got the gist from you, and that's as close as I really want to get.
  4. Don't hold back, tell him how you really feel! Not bowl-eligible, bad team... who cares? It's freaking ou, and we made them cry and quit. This feels like one of those "today I settled all the family business" things. This is not a night for worrying about how we'll play next month, it's a night for getting riotously drunk and calling a gash a gash!!!
  5. hey, now... I hadn't thought of it before, but GDGD makes a ton of sense. A national-championship winning OC! He's perfect for them.
  6. I guess I was never meant to be aggy... it would never have even crossed my mind to gauge a game experience by the "coordination of the yells" or even consider the importance of yelling in unison. It's like ranking Madonna higher as a vocalist than Aretha Franklin or Whitney Houston because of her choreography.
  7. You know how sometimes you're just kind of skimming through things and "read" words that aren't really there, and your eyes run on past, until your brain clicks in and says "Whoa!", and you have to go back just to be sure? Just happened to me above on this - and I read it as "Need a yell leader on the team...." I like that a lot better, and would truly love if they would try that - I'm pretty sure the well-heeled young gentlemen of the "Fish" persuasion would value that input greatly. If possible, I'd love to see that live-streamed as well....
  8. I just wanted to quote to bump this - the last two posts were like a cold, and completely unwelcome shower. I just want to bathe in the gloriousness of this rant. I want to believe....
  9. True... rumor has it that at least one heisman voter actually saw all of VY's games, and still didn't vote for him. What could be stupider? I guess either that or starting a land war in Asia.
  10. the definitive ricky queso list: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - one of the best original screenplays ever by William Goldman - "I've got vision and the rest of the world wears bifocals" , tons of star power, including prime Katharine Ross. The Outlaw Josey Wales - a film so good even Sondra Locke can't ruin it. The Long Riders - It'd be great even without the brothers playing brothers angle, but that just puts it over the top somehow, without making it feel like a gimmick. Stagecoach - young John Wayne just bursts from the screen into superstardom. A great cast, and you could see Ford's career taking shape. Jeremiah Johnson - makes you want to move to the mountains. It was the film Dances With Wolves aspired to be, but failed... Open Range - soooo close. Great movie. Duvall still playing Gus McRae, but I can't ever get enough of that. If it had ended a couple of hours earlier, right after the shootout, it'd be all-time, but the weepy, interminable whininess before Costner finally ends up with the girl, which errbody already knew he would, almost ruins the whole thing. and a whole bunch of others I'll remember after I hit 'Submit'...
  11. Coach Charlie Strong almost destroyed us!!! Please, please, please don't tell me we might have to face both Strong AND Saban in the same year... If anyone reading this has any influence at all with Castiglione, make sure he knows the level of our desperation and fear of this.
  12. I call 'em lucky to be in Earl Campbell's presence.
  13. First - enjoyed the podcast. Been a week of catching up with people and sharing horror stories of the Great Texas Snowpocalyse, but I think yours might just take the cake. Living through it just hours from a warm beach in Cancun just puts it over the top... But Second - at 40:13 - re: "I think this is going to be the worst disaster in the recorded history of Texas." C'mon now, it was bad, no question, and not to nitpick, but early 20th century Galveston begs to differ... Anyway, keep it up, I'm enjoying the podcasts. They're just a lot more fun this year, for some strange reason.
  14. Probably wins a mnc the last 4 years. Had the chance to play for one but completely shat the bed. Simms was better in every possible way except winning big games. ctj calling his shot.....
  15. as it turns out, very susceptible to the blitz...
