  1. Went a few years ago with wife and teenage kids.  Our VRBO was near The Hudson.  It was great - American-style food.  Ate there twice.  Can't really remember the others - this one stood out.

Will second this. It might be the very best pizza I've ever had in my life. I certainly can't think of anything better...

Heading to Chicago for Pearl Jam on Aug 31st.  Just made a reservation at Spacca Napoli.  Thank you guys for the recommendation.

Bumping this mofo. The soon-to-be-wife and I are going to Charleston June 6-10, first time for us both. We’re not taking a single long honeymoon after our wedding, and instead will be taking a few shorter trips spread out over the year. Charleston will be the first.

Skimming though this thread it looks like we need to go to Raw 187 and Fig.

Would appreciate hotel recs in the heart of town, in the high 4-star range.

Went to Charleston a couple of weeks ago.  Stayed at The Dewberry.  Booked through AmEx and got some nice perks.  Free breakfast which was delicious.  The people there were great - setup a tour of an oyster farm and used one of the hotel's Volvos to get there.  Great rooftop bar as well.

Raw 167 was tremendous.  Pricey but worth it.  They're known for their pastrami-ed swordfish sandwich.  Get it.  After reading this thread your expectations could get very lofty.  Hope they don't ruin your experience.

We ate at HUSK and FIG.  Loved both.  Rabbit potpie at HUSK was fantastic and had schnitzel at FIG - weird choice I know, but very good.

R Kitchen was a very cool dinner.  3 young chefs in an old house.  Two seatings per night. Five courses - no menu.  Would recommend.

Gin Joint was my favorite bar.

Many hot young ladies walking around - they kinda ignored my old, fat ass.  Same as in Texas.

    Have fun.

  4. Bump (thanks)
Heading to Chicago to see Pearl Jam at Wrigley on Aug 31. Get out of the Texas heat.
Where to stay? Went a couple years ago and stayed at Chicago Athletic Club. Loved the location, rooms were pretty small. Could stay there again but maybe head a little further north.
Where to eat? Did Pequod’s- not for me. Gibson’s was good. Guess I gotta get an Italian Hot Beef(no injection)
Where to score weed? Probably nice dispensaries everywhere.
    Thanks in advance.

  5. American Nightmare was released today. If you’re into true crime docs it’s the best one Netflix has come out with a while, absolutely insane story. And holy shit the police are evil.

    Just watched. Blown away.

I feel kind of sad for him.  The only reason people are going through his life is out of spite because he is a political opponent's living relative, and this guy needs or needed help.   It is pretty disgusting tactic but the right have demonstrated there is no bottom for them.

Really?  Poor, sweet, sickly Hunter?  The mean, old right wing is going after another helpless victim?

It's hard coded into American culture to reflexively view anything done by black people as something bad. Be it music (ie jazz, rock, rap), dress, hairstyle, or manner of speaking, if it's done by black people the initial default setting is to view it with derision as a function of American DNA. Paradoxically this taboo also causes intrigue and wonder as well.

    This is ridiculous

OK, I started denting my beer cans in college (30 years ago) and still do it today. It's pure habit now and I do it everytime.  Might have picked it up from a roommate from Tyler but I'm not sure.  East Texas origins?

It’s not the helmet, it’s the guy’s box turtle sized melon that’s in it. Why the dude’s wearing a helmet to a press conference I don’t know.

I guess you didn't see the video of the crane falling from the skyscraper.  Could happen again you know.

  10. Taking the wife and kids to NYC for the 4th.  Everybody wants to go to Coney Island to see the greatest living American (Sir Joseph Chestnut) defend the most coveted belt in American sport.  It could be awesome or it could be a shitshow (maybe both).  I can't find any information regarding attendance on the web.  I guess you just show up and try not to get puked on.  Anyone been?  Any advise on getting to Coney Island -assume the subway is the best choice.  Help would be appreciated.

  11. It's interesting how often Bravo allows the male crew to be sexually exploited (I guess that's the correct term).  I mean, they're routinely subjected to sexual innuendo filled comments and put in tiny Speedos - told to prance around half naked to delight some middle-aged rich broads.  Wonder what would happen if male guests made the same request of the female crew.

Have you checked with your insurance as to what the replacement schedule is? Some are three years some are five. Have you checked with your equipment supplier? If it is irreparably damaged ins will probably replace; or maybe it can be repaired. Google cpap repair.

Appreciate the help.  My insurance provides a new machine every 5 years - I have another 1-1/2 year to get there.  Sent it back to the manufacturer this week for possible repairs (depends on price).  My doc thought it would take about 4 weeks to get it back.  Thinking of trying a Zyppah to bridge the gap.  I feel pretty shitty and tired, need the CPAP back.
