  1. He is a propagandist. Members of his supposedly independent audience panels have appeared numerous times for different events. That shit was well documented circa 2007. Also: "Fuck you, Frank!" - Penn & Teller Bullshit
  2. I thought perhaps OP might inspire Surly law dogs to post funny objection anecdotes from their own experience.

  5. It took roughly a year after the Seattle experiment for the NBER study to have sufficient data. I suppose we might see some studies on the effects of California's FAST act by early 2025. I'm not clear on how fast the min wage is supposed to rise, but the ~33% increase seems close enough to to the Seattle's 37% jump to be analogous (compared to the average increase of 10% in the later composite study mentioned in post #13) . It will be interesting to see if Jacob Vigdor's analysis (which, worded differently, appears to be in line with what the Cato dude was saying) holds true.

  7. California's FAST act and the comment you quoted are targeted to the fast food industry. Unless I missed something, your link provides commentary on the broader labor market.

  11. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/business/2023/10/12/companies/payment-network-diruption-restored/ Zengin processes 6.5 million transactions a day. It was not working for two days. They say it "affected" 5 million transactions. I'm pretty sure 6.5m x 2 <> 5m. How crippling would it be if the ACH system went down? I assume that is our equivalent to Japan's Zengin system.
  12. Did you peeps even read the referenced hollywood reporter article?

  18. Voyager went belly up a couple of years ago and the bankruptcy has been an ongoing drama, but it looks like it has finally concluded. I got a check in the mail yesterday for $2.64 from the Voyager Wind-Down Debtor pusuant to the bankruptcy liquidation. That surprised me because I didn't think that they owed me anything.
  19. House GOP are holding a closed door meeting today to try and figure things out.
