1. Leftover brisket breakfast tacos. Beans, bacon, egg, brisket, cheese, homemade salsa Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
2. Yup, i cook hot and fast. my egg thermometer read 275 which is probably 300 at the grate level. i did 2:1 pepper to salt, but then i went back and hit it with more straight pepper. use a metal pan with water above the stone, below the brisket. i mix apple cider vinegar and worcestershire (enough squirts to make it turn brown) and spritz every hour until i wrap. i left it wrapped in butcher paper on the counter for 1.5 hours, no cooler. it was still plenty fucking hot after 90 minutes
3. from the wife "chop potatoes, then boil potatoes (soft but not mushy other wise you get mashed potatoes) boil eggs and chop mustard Mayo diced onions diced pickles diced pimento Dill weed Salt to taste dash of pepper Sorry I don't measure anything just throw it all together and add things to taste"
4. waiting for my wife to send me the recipe. it's pretty simple though from when i've seen her make it. potatoes, hard boiled eggs, mustard and mayo (not sure the ratio), diced pickles, dill
5. Brisket prices are down again. Found this 9.5# prime brisket at Costco for $2.69/lb. 2:1 pepper to salt ratio, smoked on my BGE for about 6.5 hours at 275*. Wrapped in butcher paper and rested for 1.5 hours. Homemade Mac and cheese and potato salad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
6. if you get a spa, they will have the heater be able to heat up the spa and the pool, won't be anything extra. it's nice to have - used it a few weekend this april when the water was in the mid 70s
7. my mortgage broker sent me one and a burnt orange yeti as a gift after i re-financed with her. man is it good
8. This is what we ended up doing. We ended up at 44.96%. We couldn’t even put down a concrete pad for the propane tank needed for the spa. I need to put down that glue to bind the black gravel. It fucking sucks stepping on one of those things coming in and out of the pool Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
9. i'm a graduate of Wm B Travis. They removed the confederate flag a long time ago, and i believe they did away with the Rebel logo. They still maintain the "Rebels" name and the school song, but that needs to change. i got into a huge online argument with some Latino alumni who were arguing that they should be able to keep Rebels and all that stuff. Imagine that, Latinos arguing for keeping confederate symbols. Fucking idiots.
10. my house is much sloped than that and we built an inground pool no problem. the back portion of the pool is about 4 feet off the ground. i did have them put in footers all along the back of the pool because my yard is so sloped
11. I’m having issues with fairly new zoysia sod I laid down about 6 weeks ago. Some spots have turned completely yellow while the rest is doing really well. I watered the shit out of it for the first few weeks while it took and it was all super green but now it looks like this. Initially I thought it could be my sprinklers weren’t reaching but I had the heads changed to 15 footers. I’ve been watering the spot manually but it’s not getting much better. Could it be fungus? 12. went with pebble tec. yeah it's not smooth like the older plaster, but it looks much better and will last a lot longer. it is rough on the swimsuits when you're sitting on the steps / beer ledge though. My wife has had to throw away a couple of bottoms because of it.
13. what was the cost of the chiller, and is the electricity cost similar to having a second AC unit?
14. can you post pics and items you bought to make it?
15. well our pool is getting too fucking hot in austin. i have no trees hence no shade. bought all the pvc stuff to build those DIY misters. wish me luck
16. just googled that, had no idea what it was but it sure looks like it based on the pics. haven't mowed it as i laid down new zoysia next to the existing zoysia i laid in october so i'm holding off on mowing it for another two weeks while it takes hold
17. cactusflinthead - getting these weeds all over my zoysia grass. What do you recommend for getting rid of them? Currently using Certainty for spot treatment of nutsedge Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
18. question for you. just laid down some zoysia yesterday and spread some 14-14-14. i'm planning to water it twice a day for 30 mins each time for the next week is this good?
19. we went with pentair equipment. different pool builders will push different equipment. from everything i read, there really isn't any big differences between hayward, pentair, and jandy. we have a chlorine pool and maintenance is really easy. get yourself a test kit, download the pool math app, and add in the liquid chlorine/muriatic acid as the app tells you. brush the pool a couple of times a week, use the net to catch bugs/leaves/debris on the surface and you're good. we do not have trees near our pool so we don't have to deal with that. we got a robotic (pentair kreepy krauly) and it does a really good job of cleaning. my one gripe is that we had bar stools built in, and it will get stuck there or get stuck above the main drain suctions. additionally, our pool builder built in the plumbing in case we ever want to go back to a regular cleaner. cleaning the spa out is a pain in the ass though. you have to use that damn vacuum hose and it's not all that great.
20. there's zero fucking chance that will happen. you'd be lucky to have the city approve your permit within 6 weeks, and that's assuming you've already got a pool builder lined up with full architectural plans ready to submit for permit approval
21. it's going to be a fucking pain in the ass. things will go off-schedule, you'll run into issues. the permits and inspections will take fucking forever. my pool was to be completed my memorial day 2019. it was finally finished at the end of september and we had a whole wasted summer. it's all worth it now but it will be stressful
22. call any pool service company out to get your pentair screenlogic set up. when our pool was done, the pool builder hired a pool service company to come out and set up all the equipment. as far as maintenance, get yourself a test kit and download the pool math app. this is the one i have https://tftestkits.net/test-kits-c4/ and it's awesome. you run your tests (you'll need to test twice a week during the summer as the heat just eats up the chlorine), plug in your test results into the pool math app and it'll tell you exactly how much liquid chlorine or muriatic acid to add. it's very easy and not time consuming our pool in Austin gets sun pretty much 100% of the day and it never got above 86.
23. i've been keeping it fairly long as i like the way it looks - so mow it short then? thanks for all of the advice
24. i laid down some fertilizer with pre-emergent about 3 months ago. what would you recommend next? this is a new zoysia yard laid down in october, in austin
