  1. didnt quite get some of those votes. sol being stubborn and vindictive voting for rome when everyone knew he had an idol. wasted vote. who voted for genevieve? another wasted vote. i bet thats the 10th time, in 47 seasons, where a player was approached and told how the vote was going to go, and the person being confided in (as a gift, a nicety, to protect them) says they dont want to vote that way, so the rest of the group votes that person out instead. so dumb to not realize you're being helped out. you bite the hand that feeds you when you come across as someone that won't work with the group.
  2. i agree. ever since they bought the island, it takes some of the fun and diversity out of it. same location every season.
  3. never followed this thread because didnt have disney until a couple of weeks ago. i would call myself a beatles fan, but not a beatles nerd. i thought it was fascinating, and learned a lot. epstein died when he was 32? 32? he was young. and the beatles never performed live from 1966 to this rooftop concert which was their last live performance ever. crazy. they got along so much better than i ever thought. there were personality differences but nothing unusual. i always thought paul rubbed the rest the wrong way, but didnt seem that way from the 9 hrs of film. they come back from lunch one day and paul is working out the very beginnings of get back, and ringo and george start helping him out with the rhythm. one day ringo is tinkering around with the beginnings of what will become octopuses garden, and george comes over and helps him out. another day george is on the piano messing around with what will become old brown shoe and others join in to help him along. funny that george seems the most helpful, but also was the unhappiest. at one point (i cant remember which song they were working on), he says you guys dont really need a second guitarist. and he's the only one that mentions going solo. there was zero friction from yoko also, but it was surprising that she showed up so much (practically every day). even though she didnt say much or throw out unsolicited advice, she struck me as the clingy, insecure type. i have a feeling she was worried about groupies stealing her man away from her. one thing i liked is after they'd been in studio 2-3 weeks and the songs weren't coming fast enough, paul pulls john aside and they have this standup conversation and paul has every confidence that john will "come through with the goods". they talked like they were good friends. i wonder how many hours of film is actually in the vault. for peter jackson to edit this down to 8-9 hrs, there was a lot left off. i was fascinated by it and wouldnt mind watching more of the song development. in each episode they would show the calendar and put a big black x on the date after they called it a night, but each day was only 30 min of film at most. I would have liked to have seen more, but i can see how some might find that boring. the 1.5 hr let it be movie was practically worthless after watching get back.
  4. put me on your christmas list where in the hell did you find that?
  5. great start. first episode grabbed you. i'm in.
  6. he's a loose cannon, and i predict some kind of episode/event involving him will go down soon. he seems like he should be on meds. hated to see jon go. he seemed like a rational, sane, nice guy. i'm pulling for the houston girl, and reading about the cast before the first episode, i like the girl from winnipeg also.
  7. what's the vegas betting line on what date prime gets fired? i'm saying the end of this season.
  8. with the dog the bourbon distilleries are probably out. of your trip that's probably the highlight. downtown louisville is great. nashville also has some sights/eats worth stopping for. you might be able to tool around shiloh with the dog. that's an educational worthwhile visit.
  9. was expecting more (or maybe moore?) from him also. did not see him on the field much. as much talk as there was on putting focus on this area, no sacks and 2 hurries. hopefully we start building a little steam on saturday.
  10. and the daughter of the lady with the chimp.
  11. i will watch as many as he releases too. pt 1 was just not very good. 3 hrs of mediocrity - not great directing, not great scenery or cinematography, not a great script, not great acting, not a great plot or storyline. the music was overly-dramatic, too frequent, and annoying. the sound editing was shit - could not really make out the dialog. really not sure where his mind was here. after doing such a fantastic job with dances with wolves, to put so much time, money, and effort into this shitshow. by reading this thread it seems a unanimous impression that it had a made for tv feel to it.
  12. but is it though? i believe, based on the flop of pt 1, that the rest are in jeopardy. he lost a good chunk of his own personal money on this.
  13. but you serve gumbo over rice, so in the end....? am i gathering correctly that the main difference is the amount of stock?
  14. we've sucked at defense for a long time. i'm with codaxx on this one, and am not normally a koolaid partaker. i feel good about this. yes, there was turnover in the secondary, and front line, but the guys we got i feel good about. the secondary i have no clue if they can cover but i know they can hit. that will be an improvement. we wont be as stout and plug holes on the line like last year, but we will be better off the edge.
  15. so if the difference between pasta and macaroni is eight bucks, whats the differrence between gumbo and jambalaya? i'm thinking about making a jambalaya for our first game in two weeks. i'm thinking shrimp, crab, and andouille sausage. theres a possibility some duck might go in. i have a problem with editing so could easily kitchensink this bitch.
  16. you know you're in the weeds when you're getting posting tips from futureman.
  17. you're right. there probably isnt a sweet spot, but 10 yrs seems to be about right in my experience. i agree on bookers - its loaded with flavors and richness and complexity, and is darker in color at 6 yrs than mckenna is at 10. the noe's say 6-8 is the sweet spot, harlan wheatley says 8-12.
  18. never got the still love thats out there, but to each his own.
  19. its a gluttony of riches out there for bourbon lovers. you can walk out of a liquor store empty-handed that has 3000 bottles of bourbon on the shelf and say they had nothing. old grand dad is another one. its not that they arent good bourbons, or that i dont like them, just the luxury of being selective and looking for something better.
  20. lets agree to disagree. their bib is about 4 yrs old. i believe 10 yrs is the sweet spot for all bourbons, and would compare it to russells 10 (maybe not quite as good), or eagle rare 10 (definitely not as good). those are all around the same price point. the ewbib is about half that price so agree on the value at least. now heaven hills old fitz, at 10 yrs, thats a steal at double the price of the mckenna.
  21. i have had maple syrup mold in my pantry. it stays in the fridge now.
  22. hank and willie are half of the mt rushmore, and they are etched in stone (so to speak). i'm not sure i'd put dolly up there, or cash or kris or waylon, or cindy walker. of those, dolly would be the highest rated. possibly george jones, but i'm thinking bob wills has to be third. bill monroe or jimmie rodgers are fighting for fourth. that leaves out so many good ones - lefty frizzell, ray price, merle, loretta lynn, tammy wynette, roy acuff, kitty wells, merle, etc.
  23. either. any creamy mexican cheese - not the crumbly one.
