  1. no shit. i was in a couple of places yesterday north, but didnt think to ask. got a barrel seagrass, remus 5, and bookers though.
  2. must own stock in makers too. way too many of those.
  3. is blackbeards still around? water street is solid, and its always worth the short hop to snoopy's or doc's.
  4. that usually means the israelis are behind it.
  5. agree with this. it's an above average pour for a bottle on most shelves every day.
  6. or that they refused to get the vaccine or wear masks because they're idiots.
  7. there will be a few but don't let your expectations get too high. mainly it's an opportunity to try 400 or so bourbons without buying the bottle. try all the belle meades, try all the boone county's, etc. here's another pro tip after a disastrous first year: skip the gin and scotch. the three dont mix. that's just my advice, and i know it's tempting because they have some great ones, but i've stuck to just bourbons on the last two trips and come out okay. last year they had some 40yo armagnac and i did sample some of those. just try not to mix too many liquors is my point. i wouldnt pass up the armagnacs.

    Burgers

Had that burger a few times myself. the hole in the wall always made a tasty (and substantial) burger when i was in college.
  9. i shouldnt be surprised at the uproar over this but i am. this was inevitable from the get go. this was always going to happen. the afghan people need to decide what kind of people they want to follow and consider leaders. we cant make them choose. we propped them at a great expense of dollars and american lives. it's their battle now.
  10. that extra hour is key. most of the swag will be gone by 6, but mainly a good chunk of the good bourbon. four roses usually pulls out some rare shit. one year brown forman had 6 different years worth of birthday bourbon. i tried all 6. pro tip: use the dump buckets. there's a shitload of bourbon there, and they give you decent pours. take a sip and dump the rest out or you'll be a goner before you make it down the first row. one of the values of the show to me is the pappy/btac tastings. for $125 you get 10 ml of all 5. there are very few bars in the world that even have all 5, but if they did you'd likely pay more than $125. it's nice to try all 5 side by side. the first year they let you do both, but now they are at the same time (4-5) so you have to choose. i've bounced between the btac and the pappy and have done 2 tastings of each in the 3 years i've gone. there is a texas room too. good people in their, though their bourbon is not up to snuff yet. real ale had an interesting bourbon last year.
  11. i've been three years in a row but we decided to skip it this year. usually buy the vip ticket plus the pappy or btac tasting. both well worth it.
  12. my family is from the south, so i'm looking forward to a few road trips. sure they are shit towns, but so is ames, lubbock, waco, manhattan, etc. my two cents is they will be greener and with better looking chicks. also more of a deliverance vibe, but i can overlook that for a weekend. the only sec destination ive been to is opelika. the three i am looking forward to most are athens, columbia, and nashville.
  13. it's a win for everybody as long as it's paid for (tax reform stays part of it). if it's going to add a shit ton to the debt, like trump did, then we should trim it down.
  14. someone should realize that thread is for beer all over the world, and this one is specific to austin. asswipe.
  15. i have tried all the heavens door offerings, and they are all decent but not noteworthy. i try everything once.
  16. forgot to mention ive been to circle and pinthouse (north and the original). hi sign is off 71, right? near live oak? 4th tap sounds like my next destination.
  17. i heard compadre's ist kaput. that was the closest one to me. next closest is bluebonnet, which i've been to. recommend me a good one to hit up please. been to 512, live oak, abw, abgb, celis.
  18. havent been in awhile. they still have the same gamey, southwestern style menu, similar to ranch 616, so i thought it was worth throwing out there. ranch 616 is louder and rowdier, more of a bar scene but with great food. contigo might be the closest to this.
  19. gayle sayers and wilt chamberlain. possibly the two best players to ever play the top two sports in america.
  20. i dont support this one bit so will be smoking meth if this happens. bourbon isnt strong enough. the only way we should should join is if its more a merging, and rebranding. as long as its called the sec, i'm out. i wont be a fan of anything sec-related.
  21. havent shopped in over a month. all my shelves are full and i'm starting to keep bottles on the floor. i decided to burn through a few before i head out again. i know i'm missing some good releases but oh well.
