  1. ive decided to opt out this season. watched the first two episodes and it's lost its luster for me. cancelled all my dvr recordings. danny mcbrides humor gets old. every episode theres dialog between two people that goes like this: "no i didnt". "yes you did". "no i didnt". "yes you did". or: "i'm not a moron. you're a moron". "no, i'm not. you're a moron". "no, you're a moron". "no, you're a moron". it's asinine and a waste of my time.
  2. Dress codes are pretty out of date, and dont do well in austin to begin with. i cant think of a place in town that requires them. even a place like brennans, in houston, could stand to relax the coat and tie requirement. its good food, let people enjoy and experience it comfortably.
  3. whats the date? whats the venue?
  4. love the show. very funny, but would be worth watching even without audio whatsoever. his shots of nyc highlight the beauty and absurdity of living in the city. he does interview people and they're crazy weird people that you expect live in nyc. i missed his landlord this latest season. she was a real winner.
  5. i lived at 33rd and guadalupe for about 10 years starting in the early 80's. been in there many times. went with a date for dessert and coffee one night not too long ago. another austin original bites the dust.
  6. isnt sway still there? i like the idea of circle brewing with huckleberry food truck onsite. not technically the domain, but less than a mile away. also, i thought roaring fork on stonelake and manuels at the arboretum both closed. no?
  7. did it say what time? mentions the band playing all night long, so it's not a day thing?
  8. i listen to this every year myself. always prefer the more somber church-like christmas music to the pop carols. this church and choir have been christmas classics for a long time.
  9. i was thinking of uchi. uchiko could work but not sure if she likes sushi. whats the consensus on brewtorium and blackstar? never been to either. circle brewing/huckleberry and meanwhile/distant relatives are options for our next weekend date. need to stay keep my drive time low on a worknight.
  10. as background, contigo was both of our first choices but cant get in before they close, even during the day.
  11. Thanks guys. love this board for just these kinds of reasons. wink and uchiko are too fancy and stuffy. casual is king, and yes this lady digs beer but is also susceptible to a margarita or too. i agree about hopfields limited food and beverage menu but hotdamn if you cant beat a burger and a beer there. maybe the best in town for both of those.
  12. youre about 20 blocks further south than all the other places but certainly a possibility.
  13. need a happy hour/supper spot for a date tomorrow in the central austin vicinity. leaning towards hopfields, drink.well, fonda san miguel, or oakmont. thoughts? suggestions?
  14. you got that right. one of the travesties of the national park is no campfires. that's one thing the state park has over it. great stars, great fire, great beverage and you got yourself the vacation of a lifetime.
  15. i've backpacked and overnighted, as well as done it in a day trip. it's a nice, challenging day hike. you'll feel good about a beer when you get back. i would go up the switchbacks first and back down through the meadow.
  16. at this tribal deshawn kind of touched on what happened when he got back to camp after the last tribal, but he did it in an apologetic way. he should have come out and said, so the jury could hear, what exactly was the issue. that ricard orchestrated the hit on shan and yet deshawn gets called a snake. shan to this day doesnt realize ricard did that and needs to know. ricard is trying to fly under the radar and needs to be exposed. if they dont figure out a way to vote him out he's going to win.
  17. did you just take an upskirt pic?
  18. heather played the game for the first time last week. that fake rumor thing turned the whole tribal council into chaos, which accomplished her entire goal.
  19. will you do it again next year?
  20. you must have bought the vip tickets for the pappy or btac tastings. only one year was i able to try all 10, then they started making you pick one tasting or the other. you seemed to have had a little from each.
  21. I'm wondering if she wont use it. she has no idea her name is being thrown around for the next tribal. she also doesnt seem like a baller so might play it safe instead of ruffling feathers. will be interesting.
  22. i watched a good bit of it last night. like most posters that have replied i was impressed with the baseball skills. i did think biden should have gone over to the gop dugout also, or at least the pitchers mound. someone has got to set the example and put party aside for the greater good. i know that sounds stupid in a baseball game but it would have shown true leadership.
  23. yet they took her advice and voted the way she wanted. makes no sense. i thought they realizing what a nutjob she is and were going to side with they guys and vote her out. really dumb. i could never play this game. i disagree with every vote so far. all three people voted out were useful, athletic, helpful, good tribesmen and people. yet they keep around the lazy, stupid, crazy, unathletic schemers and liars.
  24. the series is uncomfortable to watch, but very good. heavy on the dialog, almost like it was written for the stage. havent met him yet but already think poli is a douche.
  25. the political correctness is none too subtle. me no rikey. disagree with both votes. the first tribe should have stayed strong, and the second tribe needs to get out the young dude that lied to them. both of the people voted out would have helped their tribe. the chick wasnt strategizing at all and was no threat whatsoever.
