  1. fredricksburg makes for a nice weekend getaway. good food, good wine. port aransas is 4 hrs away. that would be my second choice.
  2. i was wondering about that too, but with that kind of wound and loss of blood unlikely. if that character has been killed off, which i hope, then that leaves the writers so much more character development for stories theyve hardly gone into, like the mayor and the mil. those are worldclass actors too so should be getting more airtime.
  3. that last episode took a surprising turn. saved us next year from a season of their roadtrip journal though. whew. next season will be better with that character gone. though i know it's going to send the judge even further off the deep end, he seems to be losing allies quickly. the detective, the lawyer/gf, the mil, etc. i'm guessing the mayor will stick with him.
  4. when you're coming from texas, thats basically the same neck of the woods. besides, say what you want about their bourbon, jack daniels is one of the better distilleries and tours in the country.
  5. i dont think it's terrible. the worst part to me is the relationship between the judges son and the gangster's daughter. they dont even know each other, he basically manipulated the whole thing, he's keeping a critical secret from her, etc. stupid. as for the judge, he seems to have no moral compass. i'm wondering if we're going to find out he killed his wife.
  6. are you going to read the other three?
  7. i finished gates of the alamo and thought it was pretty poor, but it got me in the mode so i picked up michener's texas. i gotta say it is not very good. i'm halfway done so will finish it, but it got so much hype when it came out and buzz through the years i was expecting more.
  8. the bourbon alone is worth the trip, but then you have the green, rolling hills along the drive. very scenic. if you're still having a hard time justifying the trip, you can work in civil war history (shiloh), baseball (louisville slugger), and horseracing (churchill downs).
  9. do it. i got my certification in lake travis, in january no less. visibility is 10' max, but you'll make it fine. the divemasters know what they're doing. My first certification was through the texas union informal classes, at j rich sports in anderson square mall, taught by jim bowden who would go on to be a legendary austin diver. sadly, he died doing a cave dive in mexico several years ago.
  10. you definitely did. that dude needs some negotiating skills. as good as weller is, you need 2-4 to make for 1 btac.
  11. signing means nothing. decommitments happen. if sark was one of the reasons they committed to bama they might have moved with him. apparently sark wasnt what drew them to bama.
  12. was holding onto hope that the brockermeyers would change their commit after sark left. probably the two biggest losses of the recruiting class, and most mysterious.
  13. pretty good start to the season. i'm in.
  14. i bought a bottle a couple of weeks ago. not a huge rye fan but heard it was both good and rare. you're tempting me to crack it open.
  15. i was surprised to find i had 18 off the list. many other artists and singles songs from artists in mp3/spotify format.
  16. agreed. that sounds like a marketing ploy gone haywire. bourbon for ll bean shoppers.
  17. what's your favorite, and can you ship me some of it?
  18. she got 230K votes, compared to 78K for her democrat opponent. it was a landslide. if you ran the election again, with those 308K voters knowing that they know today, the election would not turn out any different. that is the republican party right there. trump empowered the deplorables. we will be hearing from them for a long time.
  19. i've tried it and liked it, but you're right it doesnt get a lot of buzz. if it were $10-20 cheaper i might buy more of it. there's a lot of great bourbons out there in the $50 range, so i never went back for another of this one.
  20. watched some kind of heaven off ppv over the weekend. well worth the $6. blew my mind. was one of the funniest movies i've seen in a while, and at the same time one of the saddest.
  21. yes, but worth it. that and blantons might be the two best bourbons on the market. i buy both whenever i see them no matter how many i have on hand. if all i drink is weller 12 and blantons for the rest of my life i'll die a happy man.
  22. blade and bow is not weller, i'm not even sure it's wheated. it's made in the old stiztel-weller distillery but i think by bernheim or bulleit. i've heard tommy bulliet sits in pappy's old office. it's worth trying, but not notable. i would continue to look for the weller 12 if i were you.
  23. hookups and hotness? are you sure you're on the right thread?
