Bourbon
get both. all the bardstown is worth tasting, fusion or discovery. they're doing interesting stuff as ndp's. they've kind of bypassed the barrel folks. woodford double-oaked is also an excellent bourbon. not a collectors bottle, but a great drinker.

The all Encompassing Oyster thread! Raw, roasted, grilled, baked or however you love them. Home Cookouts and beyond!
i'm quite sure there is a thread on this already. but hey, if there were 20 threads about oysters i would post on all of them. fine by me. i'm a huge oyster fan. on the halfshell is a part of my every new years eve. sometimes i fry some new years day for bowl game watching. I hate meuniere sauce, cocktail sauce is the way to go. something magic happens when you combine ketchup, horseradish, black pepper, lemon juice, and tabasco. Just this past january i came across an old recipe for louis sauce. it reminds me of something from the 50's and even earlier. you can probably google it. it's basically cocktail sauce with a little mayo added. i made it for boiled shrimp, but it would be perfect for fried oysters. it's kind of pricey, but like onboard said, shucking oysters can be a bitch. this company has a great idea. would be a classy touch for a party. https://www.austinoysterco.com/

Voter Suppression
conservative logic is more voters means less chance of winning. limiting voters means better chance of winning. instead of adopting policies that are popular and would win elections, their only chance is to rig the elections instead.

Breeders FX
both the kids were stellar. martin freeman's parents too. very funny show. looking forward to the new season.

Long Weekend from Austin
fredricksburg makes for a nice weekend getaway. good food, good wine. port aransas is 4 hrs away. that would be my second choice.

Your Honor — Showtime
i was wondering about that too, but with that kind of wound and loss of blood unlikely. if that character has been killed off, which i hope, then that leaves the writers so much more character development for stories theyve hardly gone into, like the mayor and the mil. those are worldclass actors too so should be getting more airtime.

Your Honor — Showtime
that last episode took a surprising turn. saved us next year from a season of their roadtrip journal though. whew. next season will be better with that character gone. though i know it's going to send the judge even further off the deep end, he seems to be losing allies quickly. the detective, the lawyer/gf, the mil, etc. i'm guessing the mayor will stick with him.

Bourbon
when you're coming from texas, thats basically the same neck of the woods. besides, say what you want about their bourbon, jack daniels is one of the better distilleries and tours in the country.

Your Honor — Showtime
i dont think it's terrible. the worst part to me is the relationship between the judges son and the gangster's daughter. they dont even know each other, he basically manipulated the whole thing, he's keeping a critical secret from her, etc. stupid. as for the judge, he seems to have no moral compass. i'm wondering if we're going to find out he killed his wife.

Best Books on Texas?
i finished gates of the alamo and thought it was pretty poor, but it got me in the mode so i picked up michener's texas. i gotta say it is not very good. i'm halfway done so will finish it, but it got so much hype when it came out and buzz through the years i was expecting more.

Bourbon
the bourbon alone is worth the trip, but then you have the green, rolling hills along the drive. very scenic. if you're still having a hard time justifying the trip, you can work in civil war history (shiloh), baseball (louisville slugger), and horseracing (churchill downs).

Scuba Diving Assholes of Surly
do it. i got my certification in lake travis, in january no less. visibility is 10' max, but you'll make it fine. the divemasters know what they're doing. My first certification was through the texas union informal classes, at j rich sports in anderson square mall, taught by jim bowden who would go on to be a legendary austin diver. sadly, he died doing a cave dive in mexico several years ago.

Texas O-line talk
signing means nothing. decommitments happen. if sark was one of the reasons they committed to bama they might have moved with him. apparently sark wasnt what drew them to bama.

Texas O-line talk
was holding onto hope that the brockermeyers would change their commit after sark left. probably the two biggest losses of the recruiting class, and most mysterious.
