  1. i'm a pessimist I guess. I'm barely holding on that theres a realistic shot to beat him. I think everyone in America thought Hillary was going to win so didn't get out to vote. we cant get complacent and think biden's got this. we have to get out the vote.
  2. how it stacks up? that's the new release he just rated and compared to Kentucky owl. i'm a garrison fan, and am tempted to buy another bottle just so I can have one to drink. I still have a 375 ml of the original release. took a bottle of that to paris with me and it was excellent each and every night in my hotel room. fuck the haters. I'm not sure I don't like the estacado better, but this balmorhea release is supposed to be pretty good. none of us will probably ever see it but they released a laguna madre, aged in limousin oak. i'd love to try it but doubt it will live up to the search.
  3. not sure if anyone else is from the east end of Houston, but there's still a cafeteria called Dinner Bell that's been around since I was a kid in the 70's. Still a great place to go for pies. not near as iconic as luby's. luby's is the gold standard. there was a picadilly in gulfgate, and probably in almeda too, but I was never much of a fan compared to luby's.
  4. they did have an unusually large assortment of salads. carrot and raisin was definitely an odd choice. I never heard of a cobb salad until luby's.
  5. it still is, but the frozen fish that used to be in the case right next to it is gone. the fish and mac and cheese made for a nice meal. lubys is an American classic. hate to see it go. my eyes are getting big just picturing that row of hot deliciousness and all the attendants waiting behind them to help you, and how you were going to possibly choose from all that goodness.
  6. wendy davis was the first candidate that jumped out at me as a potential recipient of the alleged pac. hegar is my second choice.
  7. yep, i'm liking it so far too. reminds me of the pbs series jamestown.
  8. welcome to the team bt
  9. It's amazing to me that palo duro is the second largest canyon in the usa, because it's a mere finger scratch in the dirt to the grand canyon. the grand canyon is majestic and everyone should see it. i was based in phoenix for awhile and always went that way, through sedona and flagstaff, but last summer came down from utah and into page. that was my first time to see glen canyon dam and lake powell. page was a pretty thriving, happening town. wouldn't mind going back and exploring from there for a few days. i agree with the one posters' take that monument valley is not worth the side trip. was one of the bigger disappointments of the trip last year.
  10. Donald, is that you?
  11. i dont even think its that old. the bottle i bought said barrelled in 2016. i agree, he needs to lower it $20-40 to be reasonable. i went out looking for the woodford oat grain today but no look. did find a woodford wheated. never seen it before and it was the only bottle they had. was only $29 so am feeling good about the weekend. also bought a bottle of bulleit blenders select. it was pretty pricey for some bitches that dont even distill, but it's gotten good reviews so will be cracking it tonight.
  12. very nice score. i passed up small batch for years looking for single, 4grain, amaranth, etc. now i'd love to see even a small batch somewhere. been a long time.
  13. ive been watching. i like it a lot so far. one that that pricked my ears up was i saw in the opening credits that it was based on an annie proulx book, and that shes an executive producer on the show. shes a novelist, and not a history buff, so i was a bit confused that she was involved in this. in all the commercials and ads running up to the premiere it looked like a history, early colonies show so that's what i settled in for. turns out thats not what this show is about at all. i wont spoil it for you but you can google the novel. it gets into the modern age. at any rate, i like it and will watch it to the end.
  14. Yeah, we see that, but does every single republican voter have blinders on? why are they not seeing it? it's too easy for us dems to criticize the trumpster, but what has baffled me is how loyal the repubs have clung to him for the past 3 years. very few critics, and the ones that have are silenced quickly. he's a dictator, trampled all over the constitution, called the white house a dump, said he has ultimate authority, told more lies and been more delusional than any psychopath in any prison, and been labelled by an ecumenical society as the least christian president ever. still loyal to him. he's the teflon don. if he unzipped his fly and whipped out his tiny penis at the next press conference, he'd still get 42% of the vote in the next election.
  15. she's a tall drink of water.
  16. what kind of shitshow of an administration are we running here? fucking hypocrites. the election is rigged, oh wait I won. Obama sucks for playing golf during a crisis, oh wait I gots a tee time. voting by mail is fraudulent, oh wait I vote by mail.
  17. lots of great destination choices. we had an rv growing up and did family trips to the east coast civil war/revolutionary war/dc/mt rushmore, etc, as well as national parks in the west - carlsbad, zion, bryce, grand canyon, yellowstone, little bighorn, etc. great trips and great memories. you will be giving your kids a fantastic education and memories for a lifetime.
  18. for swimming holes - garner, blue hole, hamilton pool, barton springs, christoval, balmorhea. there's a city park in kerrville that has nice swimming in the guad. the ingram dam, near there, is also a great spot. there used to be a private campground on the blanco in wimberly called little arkansas that was a badass spot.
  19. all polls are bullshit and that's why this will be a nailbiter to the very last. polls reflect popular votes, the last few elections proved those are meaningless. if you only paid attention to the polls in ohio, wv, mi, fla, pa then you'd have a better prediction of who will win. national polls are meaningless. biden will win the popular vote but that accomplishes nothing. quit measuring the popular vote.
  20. we could, but first i'd like you to do me a little favor.
  21. ive been searching for that bardstown.
  22. which one? the last one i believe was french oak. this new one is chinquapin. i first heard about it around the time of the mongolian oak release. i looked so long and hard for it i finally emailed them and she responded back that they shipped one bottle total to the entire state of texas. thanks for making me waste my time.
  23. i thought charlie robison retired?
  24. heard about it's release. good luck finding it. buffalo trace also just released their latest installment of the charter oak series. that one will be even rarer.
