  1. i'm getting burned out on the repeat contestant idea. at first it was cool, because maybe they had a bad break their first time around, and they were likable enough, but it seems like they do it every season now. it's like they're trying to make celebrities out of reality tv show contestants. i'd just as soon the policy be one season and done from here on out.
  2. thanks for the tip. i moved away in 2011 so did not know that. i always enjoy an outdoor beer setting and their selection was one of the best in town at that time.
  3. nice find!
  4. its all conjecture at this point, but the main difference as i see it is that our society would be more civil. trump has done well with the economy and jobs, but that alone does not make america great. we are worse off than before he took office, and hillary would have done a better job of accomplishing the bs maga slogan. he has divided our country in a way that i dont foresee it being repaired. it would take a real leader (which he is not) with real ethics (which he has none of) to lead us and teach us how to have public discussions and debates and hash out policy for the future of the country. because he gets away with trampling on the constitution, running roughshod over the checks and balances system, grabbing them by the pussy, insulting, demeaning, bullying all those that oppose him, all the gop congress does it too. the president should set the example, and the gop is shit now because of him. the other difference in where we would be had hillary won is we would have more solid partnerships with our allies. trump has weakened all our alliances. germany, uk, france, canada, china, middle east, mexico, and on and on and on consider him a buffoon and a laughing stock, which makes us a laughing stock for electing him. they are all biding their time until he gets the boot. one last difference. trump has sold us down the river. i'm surprised the gop doesn't see it from all the dollar signs blocking their vision. he has weakened the endangered species act, weakened the clean water act, weakened the clean air act, selling off public lands, we're drilling and polluting land and sea not seen since the 70's. we're overdeveloping, overfishing, reducing the banking laws that went into effect after the last collapse. future generations will be worse off from the years he's been in office.

Didn't see a thread on this. Brother coming in this weekend. Where should we go? Been to Mickelwaite, Stiles, LA, Brothertons, Valentinas, Franklin, Coopers, Terry Blacks, Interstellar. I'm thinking Leroy and Lewis should be next. What are some other top notch places? Is JM's place in Granger worth a shot?
  6. w12 is better than antique, so that is not an even swap. you'll have to throw in a hand job.
  7. looks like romney is enjoying some high end cuisine and trump is eating a bowl of cheerios.
  8. going to my 3rd houston whiskey social this weekend. done the btac tasting twice, and the pappy once, so signed up for the pappy tasting this year. in addition to those 10, there are close to 400 other whiskies to sample. one year brown forman had about 6 different years of birthday bourbons. that was outstanding to sip them side by side. last year four roses had al young manning the booth and he was giving out samples of his limited edition 50th anniversary release. can't wait for this year.
  9. if you really believe china is bending the knee then you don't know china very well.
  10. you are such a hypocrite. or blind. or both. trump is the one that's spent three years tearing up the constitution. dont pretend you care about it now.
  11. Ted Nugent will get one for sure.
  12. so kids are allowed to live in atm-commerce dorms? strange policy. usually if you have a child and are going to college you have to live off campus in an apartment. When i was there UT I believe had one family dorm but it was near the brackenridge tract.
  13. what was a toddler doing at a dorm?
  14. sagamore is good shit. i have the oak liquor store pick too. outstanding.
  15. what do you have currently? not knowing i will submit for your perusal knob creek, whistle pig, and old forester.
  16. depends on what you're after. if you want to relax and get away. la canterra is an excellent choice. there is fine dining on the property, and floores, hills and dales, as well as many many other great dining and nightlife options right on 1604 off blanco, stone oak, if you want the real san Antonio experience stay on the river walk. lots of great hotel options, dining, art, and nightlife. i cant vouch for the Havana inn, but i can vouch for the martinis on their balcony. i cant vouch for the hotel Valencia, but i can vouch for the v bar and acenar, biga, and other great foodie joints in the downtown area.
  17. i'm having a pour right now. there's no age statement on the bottle, no date, no batch info, but its pretty good. I think it was just sharp upon first opening and needed to breathe a little. i wouldn't say its my favorite, but it's moved up quite a bit, bordering on quite exceptional. had no luck with eht single barrel, but saw lots of eagle rare, old foresters, and eht small batch, but i'm flush in all those. at one store there was a girl sampling devils river, rye and bourbon. they were both pretty good, and drastically different. i'd had and killed a bottle of their bourbon long ago and thought it was nothing notable. the tamest at that price point. if you look at all the bourbons on the shelf, devils river is likely to be the lightest, which is a sign of weakness to me. i like my bourbons dark, like i like my men, and my coffee. don't give me any of that watery looking shit. any how, on this particular night i was struck by the sweetness of their bourbon. there must be a shit ton of corn in their mashbill. so i walked out with a $25 bottle of texas bourbon. i believe they're an ndp, but they cut it with texas water so i'll call them Texan. started out tonight with early times bib. pretty good at that price point. then i noticed i'm running out of room to put new bottles so scanned the collection to identify some that could go. widow jane, and its dusty bottle jumped out at me as a candidate. they are ndp also, but i was actually pretty impressed with the taste of this. i don't heap the praises on mgp like a lot of you do, and rank them lower, as well as ndp's, than grain to glass outfits. that's more akin to art and craftsmanship in my book. that being said, there are some blenders out there than know their shit. I've seen podcasts of guys in a blind tasting that can tell you that's an Elijah craig 10 yo, or that's definitely make by fred noe. like a bloodhound can tell your smell from your brothers, these guys have a real nose for this. so i actually liked the widow jane. i noticed i paid $49 for it, and there are 49 better bourbons out there better at that price, so I'll still kill, and not replace, the bottle. so then i moved on to my third and final pour of the night, the elmer t lee. and it's an outstanding way to finish the night.
  18. the salt water part is going to cost you. i would suggest las vegas. property taxes are low, no state income tax, etc.
  19. if you don't come back with blantons gold or sftb you aren't doing this right.
  20. in my opinion bettas are only aggressive with other bettas. otherwise they are the prey to most "community" fish. their elaborate fins are too hard to resist. tetras, swords, etc can give them a drastic haircut and have them cowering in the corner. guppies would make for a nice tankmate, and anything bottom-feeding - loaches, cory's, etc.
  21. i watched half of four sisters whatever night it was on this week. blows me away. i've seen the full shoah (back in the late 80's) but didn't remember this part. it was pretty moving. then they followed it with night and fog, and the sorrow and the pity. great night of viewing.
  22. nice post. one of my favorite albums too. saw him live and one of my most memorable concerts. this dude did not, and does not, get the props he deserves.
  23. i think it's a beating also, but i keep reading it everytime i get a notification. today was elmer t. lee. nothing but glowing reviews. of all the bourbons i've tried that's been the most disappointing. it was hardly drinkable after first opening. i think i'll try another pour tonight. most people that commented said it was their favorite or the best they've ever tried. i would rate it somewhere near the bottom 50. one guy said that the only other bourbon he's liked better was the original black maple hill. first take on that site i've liked. that was one of the best bourbons to ever cross my tongue. going to go hunting for the eht single tomorrow. thanks for the tip.
  24. disappointed this wasnt funnier. i'm out as well.
  25. why are bernie supporters so intolerant?
