  1. I'm this way with Indiana basketball. Born into it, had it ingrained in my head since I was 5-6 years old. We were overseas, so I never got to see the '76 & '81 teams win it all but got to see it in '87. Now? Haven't won it in 35 years, haven't seen a final four in 20. I'd love to see another title with my dad before he's gone but he's 75 and not that healthy. It sucks.

  2. I drove F150s for a few years because I'm very tall and wanted as much room as I could get. I don't fit in most sedans or smaller trucks/SUVs, mostly because of the sunroof taking up all the headroom. I have never towed anything and only used the bed 3-4 times. My 2016 F150 Lariat was the nicest, roomiest vehicle I've ever had. Perfect for roadtrips. But for my daily commute, I would struggle to get 17 MPG, even though I had the ecoboost. Parking sucked, too. I also wanted more of the safety features my wife had on her Mustang.

I've loved hot hatches since seeing the civic hatches in the early-mid 90s but I couldn't find one that fit me. But last year I got a new VW GTI. Base model, but I have every safety feature I wanted. Plenty of legroom and, because there's no sunroof, plenty of headroom. The hatch is just fine for Costco runs or anything else we do. Getting in and out is a pain but I get almost 40 MPG, so who fucking cares? Parking is a breeze. As long as I can fit in these, I'll keep buying them.

People get in that line to move quick.  It is their business if you fuck that up.

I don't use the express line, so I don't really have a dog in this fight. But I'm curious: If he had only 10 items but took fucking forever to check out, is that worse than checking out with 17 items at a normal pace? What if he had 17 but was fast as fuck? Does increased checkout speed get you some leeway as to how many items are considered acceptable?

    craigslist oddly enough

Props to craigslist. Made a 500 mile round trip drive last sunday to get seats for my Camaro. I'm not sure if I've recovered yet, what a beating. But 2 original seats in really good shape for $150 was too good to pass up.

WTF is up with his shirt?  Looks like they're practicing bukkake on his dumb ass in the clink.

When I worked at Oklahoma County 25 years ago, inmates got clean clothes once a week. You had to make that clean shirt last. Also, we had the inmates doing the janitorial work inside their cells and dayroom, so most jails ain't known for their cleanliness.

recommend me some british crime shows that have 3+ seasons.

i've already seen broadchurch.  i have all the streaming networks.

    go!

It can be hokey at times but I liked Midsomer Murders. There's 20+ seasons. The best part is seeing Brit actors that you see in several other shows/films but you can't remember their name, or young actors that were probably doing some of their first work. Like Henry Cavill did an episode when he was 20.

I’m thinking his personal reasons were we were 115th in defense last year and Gundy let him leave with some dignity before he was fired.

His father died recently. I also read that his daughter has serious health issues as well. I always think "I'm taking a sabbatical" sounds fake as fuck but in his case, it could very well be true.

  8. I remember as a kid, my dad would sometimes ask me if I wanted to go to the gas station with him, as he had to go gas up my mom's car. I didn't think to ask him why she didn't do it herself, I just liked doing stuff with my dad so I always went. Now I wonder if she ever got her own gas once in her whole life? Or did he just know it was a losing battle and he was gonna avoid the hassle?

My wife gets her own gas just fine, but she has a hard time parking in the garage and has put a hole in wall from opening her door when she's too close.

The lingerie budget is an entirely different topic.  I thought you'd say why did you take the kids to that store ..."mommy, why are those underwear so small? Mommy why can you see right through that little jacket thing?" ...shit like that.

My kids were teens at the time, not a big deal. And sadly, no lingerie was purchased. Just regular underwear and bras.

So kids and I get the wife gift cards to this store she routinely spends too much at. Checking account always takes an ass whipping in December so we got these a couple months in advance.  She announces she's taking her cards there today. Ok great.  Comes home with a bunch of chick crap a couple hours later. I'm checking the bank account to pay some bills and see a fairly significant amount charged at the same store ....

Me : Why do I see this charge? That's why we got you the gift cards.

Her: I didn't see anything big I really wanted. I'm saving the gift cards for that.

Me: The point of the gift cards is to not impact the checking account. Now it's actually twice as much impact on the checking account

Her: (confused puppy that hears a strange noise look)...how? I only spent X.

Me: We got you gift cards for X, you just spent X from our account instead of the gift card. That's 2X total.

    Her: more confusion + tone

Me: (I better shut up if I want to have any activities tonight).

Years ago, my wife said she had coupons for free stuff at Victoria's Secret (beach towels IIRC) so she was taking our kids and going up there. I said cool. She comes home with several bags, I said gee, that's a lot of stuff, what's the damage. She gets a sheepish look and says $250 or something. I blew up and said what happened to free??? She said she got the free stuff but then they had other stuff that wasn't free, sooooo. I just walked away and kept to myself for the next 12 hours or so.

More details on Jeremy Renner. It was a snowcat that he owned. Blade looked about 12-14 feet wide so it wasn't a small machine.

Jeremy Renner's snowcat plow ran over his leg as he tried to clear path out of Lake Tahoe home | Daily Mail Online

He was using it to tow a vehicle that got stuck. When he stopped and unhooked the vehicle, the snowcat started rolling downhill. Renner (thinking all that Avengers shit is real) jumps on the moving track trying to get back in the cab. Instead he gets run over. Snow was so bad it took EMS and hour to get there.

There's a line we all come to at some point and that line is "Do I do this chore myself, because I'm a fucking man" or "Fuck this, I can afford to pay someone to do this chore for me". I feel like Mr. Renner is way beyond that line. If I were in his shoes, I'd be staring out the window at the snow saying, "I'd hate to be the asshole plowing this shit". Or better yet, I'd never see snow because I'd be in a tropical climate 24/7.
