  1. I was watching a documentary about the Titanic last night, the wife was on her phone and halfway watching it. They talked about Benjamin Guggenheim going down with the ship and how he was so wealthy. The wife says, "Well of course he was wealthy, he printed all of those bibles! Remember how we saw that big one in Washington, DC??".
  2. I bought my kid a '17 Hyundai Elantra last year and 3 of the fucking door handle actuators broke in about 3-4 months. Fucking ridiculous.
  3. Man, I had a dog named Reba as well. So sorry this happened. Prayers to you and your wife.
  4. My dad was given Fentanyl when he was in the hospital for his heart surgery. It made him hallucinate badly. He said he never wanted that shit again.
  5. I've been doing this in regards to my MIL. She's been a widow for more than 30 years, so she's incredibly independent but there's some stuff I didn't think she needed to be doing. Like climbing a ladder to clean her gutters. She fell off a small step stool already so I put my foot down and clean the gutters whenever my wife says they need clening. We had to gently stop her from attending a funeral last year, the deceased died from covid and his widow and child tested positive. The latest was her wanting to go to the store during the worst winter storm we've had in over 140 years. I knew she was stir crazy but I wouldn't let her drive until it was cleared up enough that I could drive to work. I told her I've already buried one mom, she's the only one I have left. She gets it.
  6. My wife and I were discussing this just last night. I told her how I'd like to get away for a weekend, we haven't been on any kind of "trip" since 2018. But I'm really feeling this more than usual because of this virus shit. I've been working at home part time for the last nine months, she's been WAH 99% of the time since March. I'm fucking tired of looking at these walls all the time! I find myself wishing I was in the office when I'm at home. Not all the time, but at least once/twice a week. She said she loves being at home and doesn't share my feelings, ha. I never thought I'd feel like this. I want a break from this "break"!
  7. I dunno man, 45+ years doesn't sound "early" to me. That's a long fucking stretch in the can. If he wasn't a total fuck-up during his near half-century in prison, I can see why they might let him out now.
  8. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/02/25/report-russell-wilson-stormed-out-after-his-ideas-for-fixing-seattles-offense-were-dismissed/amp/?__twitter_impression=true IMO Wilson is a fake-ass douche. Hope he gets traded to the Jets and goes 1-15 every year.
  9. https://www.outkick.com/david-chao-md-multiple-broken-bones-may-be-the-least-of-tigers-worries-expect-more-surgery-to-come/ Yikes
  10. Drugs was my first thought as well. However, it was 7-7:30 AM, how early would he have had to take some pills to make him unable to drive properly at 7? Could it have been residual from some pills he took the night before? I have no idea. Either way, he's damn lucky he didn't hit anyone else.
  11. You think his ex-wife is having a good chuckle, as she sits on her pile of cash? I know if my cheater ex-wife had a bad car accident, I wouldn't hurry on down to church and light a candle for her.
  12. Sadly, my first thought was that he was high. Seeing him all fucked up on tv just reinforces that IMO.
  13. I think this is more of a philosophical thought but I didn't think it was right for the DT board. I look at a PC screen for most of my day and I can't help but look at the day & time in the bottom right corner and think "My God, is it really 2021? Am I really this old?". Just saying 2021 out loud makes it feel like some Buck Rogers shit. That's just too far into the future. isn't it? It gets me to thinking about my own mortality, and how much time my dad has left. My BIL died recently and that's also putting more weight on my mind about life and living. If I let it, it can really overwhelm me and leave me almost powerless to think or move or do anything.
  14. Hey man, we don't have 3.2 beer anymore! How dare you!
  15. I discovered water in my garage, coming from around my shitty old garage fridge. I figured the cold has finally killed it and it was thawing out. But then I heard the dripping water. A pipe had busted (I thought). This was late last night, so the wife called a 24hr plumber, they said they'd be here this morning. Well, it turns out the wife had talked to the answering service and they overbooked for this morning. They'll be here today but we don't know when. I decided to clear out the part of the garage to give them access. It turns out that it wasn't a busted pipe in the wall. The filter for the icemaker had ruptured. I was able to shut of the water and we're ok for now. I think I'll have to replace some drywall, though.
  16. I have power. I get no water at all from the hot side, it's not flowing. The cold side is fine. I'm sure the main pipe/line from the water tank is frozen.
  17. I woke up to find that I have no hot water. Cold water is flowing strong. Water heater is in the garage. I have no idea how to get those lines heated up. Water heater is gas, FWIW.
  18. The rolling blackouts have arrived in OK. We lost power for almost exactly one hour. Got the womenfolk charging their phones and laptops. Luckily, our governor left for vacation right before the storm hit. Fuckwad.
  19. After many hours of using a small space heater to heat up the walls in my laundry room, the pipes were thawed at around 11:15 last night. Much rejoicing in the house. I ran the load that was in it and when it was done, I ran it for another round with nothing in it, just to keep the water flowing in the pipes. The wife and I celebrated with some late-night nookie. After we finished, we heard the washer go off and she went to check it for anything out of the ordinary. When she came back, I said I wanted to run it again. She said "Oh, I thought I'd run the dishwasher instead." We've had zero problems with the dishwasher, not sure why she thought that was important. I was too tired to argue with her, so I went to bed. Any guesses as to the status of the washer lines this morning??? Fucking hell. The heater is back in place and the process has started all over.
  20. I drove over to my mother-in-law's and borrowed a space heater. I have it blasting the wall behind the washer. Hopefully this will do the trick.
  21. I did the laundry yesterday and thought I'd wash the bedding today, just to keep the pipes clear. No water to the washing machine. The showers, dishwasher and all faucets are fine, just nothing to the washer. The pipes go into the wall in the laundry room, no chance to do any preventive measures, nor can I see a way to thaw them out. I don't know if anything has burst in the wall, it's been below freezing here for days here in central OK. But it worked fine all day yesterday, so I'm stumped. How can I thaw this out when I can't see or reach any pipes?
  22. 2002 World Series game 6: Giants blow a 6 run lead and lose. I knew they'd lose game 7 and they did. I never thought I'd see a WS title in my life, thankfully I was wrong. 2002 NCAA final: Indiana took the lead in the 2nd half but let it slip away. I felt like I had seen my last chance to watch IU win another title and I'm pretty sure I'm right. My dad was born & raised in Bloomington and there's no one else on the planet that I can talk with about IU hoops and I really wanted to have them win one when I was an adult, so we could talk about it. Dad's 73 and not all that healthy, IU hoops is trash. The dream is gone.
  23. I sat in one at Carmax once. I felt like I was in a shipping container. Couldn't see out the back and there was an echo anytime we spoke. I was turned off after that. But now? I'm rethinking my position.
  24. I've never cared for FJs but damn, this makes me want to get one. Reading that thread was kind of emotional, glad the guy's alright.
