  1. Had a bit of an angry meltdown yesterday. We left for a short getaway on wednesday morning. While waiting for the wife & kids to get their shit together, I decided to hop online. My PC wouldn't power on, it would try and then shut off. It finally said that I needed to reinstall windows. We were leaving in 15 mins, I was almost in a panic, this has never happened to me before. I decided to go ahead with the reinstall and hoped it would be ok until I got back on saturday. I arrived home to find that it was "working", as in it powered up but my PC was all fucked up. Apps were gone, of course, but it won't let me reinstall them. I can't figure out what's going on. I've had this PC almost 5 years and have been thinking about getting a new one anyway but I wanted to do that on MY terms, not because my old was is "broken". When I couldn't get my Plex server set back up, I lost it. Just started gorilla-bashing the keyboard as it sat on my lap, keys flew off and were scattered around the room. My wife was sitting next to me and was understandably startled. I threw the keyboard down and stormed away to my room and just laid on the floor. I was still mad but embarrassed as well. More like ashamed, really. I ordered a new PC on amazon this morning and now I'm trying to get past my outburst. I have already apologized to my wife, she was as gracious as ever. I'm lucky to have her.
  2. My wife likes to buy shit at Lowe's but hates driving my F-150 because it's size makes it hard for her to drive and park. I'm sure she's not the only one that feels that way. There's probably a lot of women that would find the Maverick appealing, and I don't mean that as an insult to any guys that would buy one. I'm way too tall for a midsize or below but I'd give it a hard look if I could fit comfortably inside. I'm seeing $26k for a loaded XLT, that's not bad.
  3. We had our performance evals done this past week (I crushed it, as usual). But when my boss emailed to ask if I had anything else to go over, I requested a meeting and got everything off my chest that's been bugging me for the past month or so. It feels so damn liberating to just unload that shit, even though I know it won't really change anything about my situation. It was almost like therapy. I already know that talking about things out loud really does wonders for me, but I need to figure out why it takes me so long to do it. My wife is more than willing to listen to me, I guess I feel guilty about dumping things on her. I need to be more open about it. If you're on the fence about talking so someone (friend, co-worker, therapist), please just do it. I can't guarantee it will solve all of your problems but it absolutely cannot hurt. And it might just make a huge difference for you.
  4. My ex BIL lived in rural Oklahoma, he had a dog that would get into the neighbor's property and fuck with his cows and mules. He'd latch onto their ears or even their muzzle and just get swung around until he fell off. They'd freak out and try to stomp him. The neighbor was not amused and threated to blast the dog into the afterlife. Eventually, due to all the hanging-on, his teeth got looser and looser until they fell out. His final few years, his food had to be wetted down because he couldn't chew the hard kibble.
  5. Too bad they decided to give the Fridge a garbage TD run instead of letting Payton have one. That was BS.
  6. The Gamblers logo is fucking great. Pretty much perfect.
  7. The United States Football League Returns in 2022 | Fox Sports PressPass This should be interesting. I wonder if they'll accept guys right out of high school?
  8. Indiana offered 10MM/yr to come back home and coach and he said no. I don't think he wants to coach anymore, much less recruit.
  9. Danny Ainge retires, Brad Stevens moved upstairs. Crazy. Boston Celtics president Danny Ainge retires, Brad Stevens takes over (espn.com)
  10. Y'all had me freaking out. I booked a place in Dallas for next week and I didn't even bother to look at the cleaning fee. I just checked it, $75. Whew.
  11. Are they not called "the wheels of steel" anymore? When did this happen?
  12. About 20 years go, my then-BIL used to breed pits and he used them for hog hunting. He gave a pup to my then-SIL, who lived with my wife and I. She was a flake and left the dog to us when she moved out. The dog was sweet, a buckskin colored female. I got another one (blue brindle male) so she could have a playmate that she couldn't just tear apart. He was great, too. One day, my sister came over and brought her 2 young kids (9 & 8 or so). Kids were running around the yard, doing kid shit. Then I see my sweet female look at my nephew in a way I'd never seen her look before. She started barking at him. Told the kids to GTFO the yard and back in the house. I never let them around a kid again and found them new homes when I decided to have kids of my own. Both of those kids turned out to be huge losers. Maybe the dog knew what was going to happen and those barks were her way of warning them to get their shit together?
  13. About 20 years ago, I had a couple of friends each get married and the church (NOT the couple) did the "Pass the Boot" thing at both of the weddings. People could drop in however much cash they saw fit to give. They went to the same church (kind of a strange one) and it's sort of a thing there.
  14. Went to a fish fry last night, ate a shit-ton of the stripers we caught at Texoma a couple of weeks ago. Sat by the fire pit and listened to music and just hung out, laughed our asses off. Had a blast.
  15. No, I have insurance and I'm not looking to get out of paying the bill or even trying to slow-play it. I just don't get the idea that they can charge interest, I've never had that happen before. Maybe there's some fine print in the admission paperwork you sign when you first get there?
  16. This is what I used to do, 20 years ago. I'd get a bill, then go to the accounts payable people and tell them I could afford $50 a month. They said fine. But after I got out of the hospital last year and tried this, they said I'd have no interest for 12 months, then they start charging interest. I don't know how that's possible, when I didn't sign any loan paperwork. My wife had to do the calling, so I wasn't able to ask that question.
  17. I spent 5 days in the hospital in October. Just the room bill was over 29k, I don't even want to know about the doc's or the ER stuff. After insurance, my share was $2900 and I thought I got lucky it was only that much.
  18. Oh, I can find some, but they're more than 1000 miles away. Things get sold before I can make a move.
  19. Maybe I'm just yelling at clouds but dammit, I can't find a second gen Camaro/Firebird for a price that's anywhere close to my budget. They're either total trash or it's just borderline trash for an outrageous price. I just want something I can drive home for under 10K. Judging from the listings I've seen, I need to move to California or Michigan.
  20. There was a Kuykendall that was the DA in Norman, OK for a few years. You must have some sooner blood in you. Shame.
  21. Isn't this just more blatant homophobia???? /s
  22. You could take him belt shopping. Just north of TF is Pauls Valley. They have the Toy and Action Figure Museum. I've never been but I've always wanted to go, just for the nostalgia. He might think it's cool. An hour north of TF, there is the Museum of Osteology. Has complete skeletons of almost any animal you can think of. My kids thought it was pretty neat. The gift shop has cool stuff as well.
  23. Holy shit, this annoys me to no end. Every episode has an ad at the front for one of their original shows. I'm already paying for the service, leave me the fuck alone! I'll watch your show if I feel like it.
