Are all Restaurants Understaffed now (2021)?
My wife's company is struggling to get furloughed employees back. These are bartenders, servers, BOH people, guest relations. Many have told her they're making more by staying at home. They just put on a 2 day job fair, they're desperate for help.

Dementia and Alzheimer's
About 25-30 years ago, I remember seeing my mom crying at the table, not a huge bawl-fest but she was upset. I didn't say anything, I just found my dad and asked him what was up. He said my mom got a letter from my grandma, telling her that she won't be able to continue to write letters anymore. Her memory problems were just too bad. I was around 20 at that time (selfish moron) and I only met my grandparents 5-6 times, so I wasn't exactly bothered by this but my mom was crushed. She and her mother wrote to each other all the time, they didn't do many phone calls. That was pretty much her only connection to her mom and it was over. Looking back as someone in my late 40s, it's really sad.

Meanwhile, at Chernobyl…
It's been over 30 years since I've been there but from what I remember, one of the most beautiful places around. We were in Wiesbaden and I always liked going down to Heidelberg.

Meanwhile, at Chernobyl…
USAF, we were in West Germany for 6 years.

Meanwhile, at Chernobyl…
You gotta be gentle. Otherwise, that's how you get mad cows.

Meanwhile, at Chernobyl…
I was 12 and living in western Germany, I honestly don't remember much fuss about it. Too busy beating off to pay attention, I guess. I can't give blood either, due to possible mad cow disease exposure. Thanks, Europe!

Robocalls - Why don't we fine the companies who spam phones?
I have moved past the car warranty and health insurance calls and now get solar power calls.

I Wanna Say ‘I Told You so…’ (Chinese Glass Bridge Shannonigans)
I don't get the desire to be scared like that. Roller coasters, glass bridges, no thanks. If I want to feel terror, I'll look at pics from my first marriage.

For Sale - Whataburger, update sold!
I went last night and it was the worst whataburger trip ever. First, they put the burgers in the wrong wrappers, so I bit into my wife's horrible burger. Then the fries were obviously stale and crunchy, almost like old cheetos. Then my lemon pie, which I had let sit a while, was nuclear hot. I took a bite and had to spit it out. The filling poured out like hot tea, nothing resembling pie filling at all. Just an all-around clusterfuck. I'm avoiding that location for a long time.

Austin Homeless Free for All Ordinance
Do you really think those cops were going to do some hard-nosed police work in those 2-3 hours and not just play grab-ass or hide in an alley? Because I sure don't. If anything, they'd probably just give out some bullshit tickets and ruin the day for some taxpayer.

Trivial Things That Make You Surly
I was too cheap to pony up for a wireless xbox controller for my PC, went to Gamestop and bought a decent controller with a six foot cord. It works fine but the fucking cord has to twist itself up in 4 spots for some reason, making the effective length of the cord about a foot long. So I have to uncoil the thing every time I use it, then watch it flip back.

Dad had a rough last 4-5 years
My mom lived for 10 years after having cancer. Dad swears that the chemo is what really got her in the long run. The treatment ruined her immune system, she was always sick with something after that. Colds, flu, even became asthmatic, which she never had before. Heart failure took her one morning, coming up on 14 years ago. Never saw it coming, 58 years old. RIP to all we've lost before their time.

Shelter in place message in NW Austin?
They should sell them at a gun buy-back program. They get the cash and can still keep the guns. 5D chess and all that.

Is Deshaun Watson Done in Houston?
- FedEx going through Indy will be slightly delayed
No, but did you hear about all the police shootings???- FedEx going through Indy will be slightly delayed
I assume the shooter was an employee? I don't think it's a coincidence that there have been shootings like this at high stress jobs like FedEx, USPS, etc. I wonder if the high pace these companies demand is just too much for most people. My friend that worked at a UPS sorting facility in the early 90s would tell me they only gave you so many seconds per package to route that shit and they were watching. I bet the Amazon fulfilment warehouses are a timebomb as well.- Chicago cops murder 13 year old point blank
Usually, it's because they have fuck-all to do. Gotta look busy!- Truck Nuts
I just checked out that Cyanlabs and it seems awesome. I'm just terrified I'm gonna brick my infotainment system, I have that kind of luck.- daunte wright shooting
Agreed. I don't drink or smoke and couldn't care less what others choose to do. Personal liberties and all that. "Smoke 'em up, Johnny!"- daunte wright shooting
I'm old and pretty white, so I was wondering the same thing. The only thing that I can think of it the "Black Ice" scented air freshener tree is commonly used by folks that wish to cover up the smell of weed in their car. I guess cops see that and assume you have some ganja in the car?- Truck Nuts
I upgraded the Sync 3 system in my '16 F-150. When I went to see about updating the navigation maps, they want $109 for it. Really? I could just use my phone for free. They'd earn more in goodwill if they just gave it away for free. - FedEx going through Indy will be slightly delayed
