Talking about signing up and all, we really (as a country) need to lose some weight.

How many young people are too fat to qualify for the armed forces? Weigh [sic] too many.

They can find a waiver for that. Just ask your recruiter.

  2. Not trying to be a debbie downer here but...it looks just like the first one. Maverick is a loose cannon/rebelious asshole; Drunken party at the local watering hole, music and singing galore; homoerotic beach sports; beloved friend/colleague is killed; dogfight with enemy combatants. Mix in Mav getting laid somewhere in there. I'm not saying it's trash it's just been done.

That's the same problem I had with Jurassic Park and the new Star Wars films. Yeah, I liked seeing dinos wreck shop and lightsabres, but it's the same formula.

Indian Chief has got to be just brutal. Pow-wows, squaws, setting up and tearing down teepees. Not to mention the white men and their ways. Sheesh.

The easy access to fire-water really soothes those jangled nerves.

he really is.  how he can be just an average golfer during regular PGA tour stops and then be at the top of the leaderboard at every major.  it's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.  i don't know how people explain it.  he's clearly an incredible talent.  he should win 3 or 4 PGA tour events a year, but he doesn't.  just majors.

He was on Jim Rome recently and he said he doesn't practice during the week for regular tournaments, only when he's getting ready for a major.

Stop talking to my wife you asshole!

I'm so numb to my wife starting a sentence with "I need"

When it comes to phone calls, my wife starts every sentence with "Um". I've gotten numb to it over the years.

  6. When they built the turnpike system in Oklahoma, the legislature said it would charge the toll for the roads until the cost to build the roads had been paid off. Then, once they paid it off and realized how much $$$ they were raking in, they moved the goal posts and now the fees are permanent to cover "maintenance" . It's a fucking racket but I've got no room to complain because I pay those tolls all the time.

In the mid 70's, my step dad bought a plastic--plastic-- fake fireplace.  You rolled it up against the wall and plugged it in.

It had a thick plastic or poly-something cylinder that turned around a tiny light bulb, casting orange/yellow light around the room, emulating the glow of a roaring fire.

Our Christmas stockings hung from that bad boy until 1979 when my mom thankfully divorced him and we moved in with her parents, who had a real fireplace with actual burning wood.

    I win.

We lived in an apartment (military housing) when I grew up and we didn't have a fireplace. So I never had a stocking at christmas time. Fast forward many years and I'm at my parents house and my mom is decorating for christmas and she's at the fireplace, putting up stockings for my nephew and niece. I told my mom, WTF we never had stockings before (and didn't get one now), what gives? She just kind of mumbled something like "Yeah, you had such a hard life, I guess". My parents are/were great but that always stuck in my craw. My niece and nephew turned out to be total fucking losers, so I guess I got the last laugh.

A 22% stake in the National Basketball Association’s Oklahoma City Thunder owned by the late energy magnate Aubrey McClendon is up for sale, according to people familiar with the situation.

The sale will be run by the boutique investment bank Inner Circle Sports, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the process is private. The New York-based firm declined to comment.

The stake has been held by the Chesapeake Energy Corp. co-founder’s estate since his 2016 death in a single-car crash, which resulted in a number of creditor claims. Oaktree Capital Group LLC had put a claim on cash from a sale of the team stake, although the firm was repaid after the estate sold oil-and-gas leasehold interests in a separate transaction.

Martin Stringer, an attorney for the estate, didn’t respond to messages requesting comment on the Thunder sale. Tom Blalock, the executor of the estate, and team spokesman Dan Mahoney also didn’t return messages seeking comment.

The Thunder are worth about $1.5 billion, according to Forbes. That puts the small-market team in the middle of the pack of the NBA’s 30 squads, but the organization has been building momentum. It reached the playoffs in nine of the past 10 seasons, including the last four.

    Sellout Streak

The Thunder posted an average local television rating of 6.69 this season, second-best in the NBA behind the Golden State Warriors. They also have sold out 355 consecutive home games, which is the third-longest active run in the NBA.

The team is controlled by Clay Bennett, whose group bought the club -- then the Seattle SuperSonics -- in 2006 for about $325 million. The team relocated to Oklahoma City for the 2008-2009 season.

It’s difficult to pinpoint a value for McClendon’s stake, which comes with voting rights but few other perks, according to the people. There’s no representation on the board or decision-making authority. In such cases, buyers will often seek to apply what’s called a limited partner discount, taking into account the absence of control or a say in franchise operations. Such discounts usually range from 10% to 20%.

The team’s roster -- and thereby its salary commitments -- are also in flux, which may affect the club’s valuation. The possibility exists that the Thunder, which recently traded Paul George and his $33 million salary to the Los Angeles Clippers, could also trade Russell Westbrook and his $38.5 million salary for next season.

  9. People at work that print shit and then leave it on the printer all day. Every time I get my papers from the printer (immediately after clicking "print" BTW) there's always recipes or emails in the stack. I don't give a damn if you print personal stuff, just go pick it up.

The green there is like no other green in the world.  It's like it's electrified when the sun breaks thru a cloud as the weather changes every 5 minutes it seems.

This sounds dumb but it's the absolute truth. I went to Ireland when I was a kid and saw it myself but when I try to explain it to my wife, I sound like an idiot because it's just hard to convey. It's the greenest place I've ever seen.

  11. Wife comes out of the bedroom while brushing her teeth, proceeds to ask me a question with the toothbrush still in her mouth. "Gtrhu urth qwith thaiu?". After I said "What?", she rolled her eyes, as if I'm supposed to understand whatever the fuck she was trying to say.

He’s a different fighter than he was during those losses. Dude just flatlined Darren Till and Ben Askren like it was nothing. Clearly he’s flying high right now

He's 2-2 in his last 4 fights. He's looked good these last 2 but he's not some all-time great.

Pizza Hut’s $20 box meal is a great deal, but none of the major chains are all that great. If you live in an area with QuikTrip, might as well go there as any of the chains. Just like with burgers, going to a local chain or a hole-in-the-wall is almost always better.

My local Love's gas station has Godfather's pizza in it. I hear people saying it's just as good as it used to be in the 80s but I don't want to buy pizza from a convenience store. I just go to my local mom & pop pizza place.
