  1. Players sign up for practice slots and I feel like masters.com publishes it but it's not exactly required the players actually show up or do anything other than chip and putt.
  2. Yup agreed with @4th&Five - skip Marfa, spend more time in Big Bend. I'd even say just fly into El Paso and drive straight to Terlingua. Big Bend is the main attraction and there is more than enough for days and days of activity.
  3. If the new Max vs Lewis debate is Lando vs Stroll, I'm out, see you next year.

    3D Printing

Get some shit filament to learn on and then get the good stuff once you feel comfortable. Good filament makes a big difference.
  6. A few pictures from our trip. From the Starlight Theater patio: Window Trail: Santa Elena Canyon: Yucca's (I think?) in bloom: Lincoln Marfa:
  7. Uber there is easy but it can be a bitch of a wait on the way back. The Maudie's plan above is solid advice. Alternatively, there are garages across 360 (west side of 360, south of river) that you can buy passes ahead of time for like $50 if I recall correctly. Not affiliated with the event so they don't get advertised much. Found the link: https://www.premiumparking.com/P3088 $55 Edit: ha, nevermind.... Sold out already. Last year we bought it day of for Thursday.
  8. We just got back from the area, left one day before the snows hit. 2 nights Terlingua, 2 nights Lajitas, 2 nights Marfa. Fuck load of driving but damn, the scenery out there is mind blowing and makes the long drives go quick. Terlingua - did 4 hikes in Big Bend National Park (Window, Balance Rock, Santa Elena, Hot Springs) - all epic. I was blown away. I can't wait to get back to Big Bend and see more of the park. Ate at Starlight and DB Rustic BBQ - both were fine, basically in the "good enough" category. Lajitas - if not for the golf course (which is absolutely stunning), this was pretty meh. Dark, dated rooms, expensive everything, good enough food. Marfa - star party at McDonald was great, Balmorhea was neat but otherwise, I didn't really get Marfa (and those two things are an hour away from Marfa). Food was awesome though - Margarets, Water Stop and Aster were all excellent meals. Sentinel had great coffee and breakfast. Planet Marfa was just a fun bar and hangout. Next time we go we're spending the full time exploring Big Bend National Park and the state park next door. Well worth the 7 hour drive from Austin.
  9. Because they care about the environment.
  10. Do you want floating shelves or shelves on a bracket? Either scenario, there are a lot of kits you can buy online to get the job done. I've seen many that are built to the inch you require and if you need more granular than that, you can always rip the shelves using a table or track saw (assuming you have either). That works better on bracket shelves vs floating but either way, you can get a perfect fit buying online.
  11. It's like Ferrari runs the stewards, too.
  12. Basketball anxiety is so much worse than football anxiety. It's constant and unrelenting and I'm fucking here for it. We won two games in two very different ways. That's a sign of a great team.
  13. My tradition like 99% of golfers of not attending in person continues yet again.
  14. The 20 extra unplanned trips to Lowes are what piss me off the most.
  15. San Antonio has a great set of courses as well. It's just shocking how bad golf is in the Austin area for the general public and even the country club options. You have to pay near $100 on a weekend with cart and range balls for Star fucking Ranch. That's dumb.
  16. The most incredible skill PGA tour pros possess is ignoring those idiots. I imagine they have anti-hearing aids. The higher they turn them up, the less they hear.
  17. You think surly has standards. That's cute.
  18. At least she's not opening plane doors at 30k feet. She's better than the average Herman.
  19. Are you in Austin? If so, check out Fine Lumber - they may have something that would work better than a standard dowel and for considerably less than $65. If you're not in Austin, find a local lumber yard - a lot of them will sell trim and specialty molded pieces.
  20. I think we just have to accept tour golf in Austin is done for quite a while. The city just doesn't have sensible options for the modern tour and ACC was always a bit of a stretch. Made it work while we could.
  21. How many fuckups does this guy get before we finally stop idolizing him?
  22. HSB courses are overrated as fuck, outside Summit Rock. Ram Rock is fine but certainly not PGA tour level. Apple Rock might be one of my least favorite courses I've played more than once. If you could figure out how to get people there, UT is a decent option. I've always thought that was a better course for the tour than ACC but logistics will be tough given how tucked into a neighborhood it is. I think the issue with all of the above suggestions, UT included, is a lot of the open areas around holes are forest. Not a lot of areas to put up big grandstands like ACC has on the waterfront holes.
  23. I get it, CC's want all the cash but ACC is one of two member owned/run country clubs in Austin. It's the members making that decision.
  24. If the club nets $1.5 - $2M for hosting, why charge 2 months of dues? Seems silly to "subsidize" an event that turns a profit for the club.
