  1. I've decided to get back in the game and start up a mirrorless setup. Selling all my "old" gear if anyone here is interested (take whatever price you see on the links below and knock off $25 if you're in Austin). Gotta raise some funds to pay for this dang hobby: Nikon D700 - https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1743461 Nikon 70-200 f2.8 VR ED - https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1743463 Sigma 85mm F1.4 EX DG for Nikon - https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1743465 Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG Art for Nikon - https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1743466

They have an equally delicate first touch.
  3. Any DIY'ers? Buddy of mine skates and shares the woodworking itch. We've made a few boards under his label (BYO grip tape). Also done a surf board and wake board. Probably never doing that again...
  4. Spieth didn't lose or choke, Hoge won it. That dude played balls out down the stretch and no one was going to match him. Hats off to him. Onward to Phoenix.
  5. Only thing I can offer up is whatever material you pick, you need mass. The denser the better. With a floor underlayment designed for sound proofing plus sound proofing insulation, you'll probably get close enough. Soundproofcow.com has a lot of materials you can use for this purpose.
  6. Dammit, I first read that as Inter Milan and got really excited, but womp womp...

I'm 100% on board for going for the win at Mexico. I think to do that, you have be a bit more conservative than the lineups I mentioned above that have Adams as the one defensive midfielder. Mexico scores goals these days with quick counters (and soft penalties...), they aren't going to break us down. Having an extra safety valve like Acosta or Musah is probably required to keep them off the scoresheet which means one of Weah, Pulisic, or Reyna sits. Then you go all out vs Panama and send the fighting Blas Perez's packing.

If it has to be a 4-3-3 b/c GGG, it's a very aggressive 4-3-3 and Reyna is a bit out of position. He's better centrally. Pulisic - Pepi - Weah McKennie - Adams - Reyna <back 4> 4-2-3-1 makes more sense with your proposed players, though still aggressive. Adams would basically have to sit back and be a shield for the back 4 all game long (which he pretty much does anyways but he would have 0 freedom) Pepi Pulisic - Reyna - Weah McKennie - Adams <back 4> I don't know that either of those are capable of existing inside GGG's thick skull, though.

I have tons of moral outrage as well. Cold fucking sucks. Makes me stuck at home with two bored as shit children for two days straight. Fuck this shit.

I don't think for a second that playing in abysmal conditions in any sport is advantageous for the more talented team. The more mother nature has a role, the less control you have and when you're the more talented team, you want all the control. It has nothing to do with GGG, or soccer, or this team - that's just sports.

It's not showing mercy to the other team - it's putting your OWN team in the best position to win the game.

    USMNT 2022

That's the thing - it didn't guarantee a win at all. I think it did the opposite. Horrid conditions level the playing field, not tilt them towards the more talented team.

I'm too lazy to find the exact quote but GGG compared playing in 0 degrees to playing in 90 degrees + humidity in San Pedro Sula as if they are the same thing - it's just life in CONCACAF. No, you petty a-hole, they're not the same thing. One country has no choice but to play their home games in that kind of weather, the other chooses to put players through an absolute beating just because their imbecile of a head coach is naïve enough to think it would help.

Adams, Acosta, McKennie isn't too offensive to the taste buds. I'd take it for the set pieces.

This is so fucked up. You're putting 22 players at risk of serious injury. Columbus at 32 degrees - ok, that's not awful but still stupid and let's be honest, you got lucky it was that pleasant. 0 degrees and -20 wind chill? Fuck that. I think for many of these guys, to operate the way they do at the speed and agility they do, their lower body muscles are constantly teetering on the edge (Weah, Pulisic, Adams, McKennie, Reyna have all had a hamstring issue just this season). Asking them to go full tilt, sprinting towards the end line when many have hamstrings that are notoriously suspect is reckless at best. If it's true he has 51% of the vote, fuck this coach. If not, fuck this coach anyways.
  16. Just put up the TJ and KD statue at the same time. Both deserve it for different reasons and I don't think either one is a clear cut "most impactful player" - both deserve the title. And then that's it for statues for basketball. No one else in current history deserves one, I don't think.

That's the most aggressive thing a GGG team does over the course of 90 minutes.

Yup, that's a winning lineup. But we'll probably have Acosta in there instead of LDLT. I don't hate that either - gives McKennie a bit more freedom to roam. Regardless, I think we're all coming around to the realization that the lineup isn't the issue anymore. It's the culture, it's the tactics, it's everything that GGG does outside of picking 11 names. Relying on set pieces when you have literally no one in your starting 11 that does that regularly should be a giant red flag that your tactics need work. Yet, here we are. Wasting away our golden generation.

Best part - he was most likely offsides anyways so it was all for nothing.

I really thought we played well enough that game just could not convert. The right side of the attack looked very well in sync - Dest and Weah complimented each other nicely. The left flank was really disjointed - it was like neither ARob nor CP10 was cognizant the other one was there. MMA midfield did work, especially the M's. McKennie was MotM for me. Musah was great, especially in the 2H. Adams was a bit shaky but every time he did something stupid, he quickly did something that reminded us all of why he's so important. Even small things like sniffing out a counter off a corner and stopping it quickly, just quintessential Adams kind of work. CP10 needs to figure it out. It's like he's lost all sense of what made him great - wide positions, darting runs. He's never been particularly effective in the middle of the pitch but that's where we keep seeing him for club and country. Part of that is thanks to Tuchel's system he's been stuck in. He needs to get out of Chelsea fast and find a system that actually uses wingers and not just wing backs. Lastly - the weather. It was 30 degrees. These guys play across Europe where 30 degrees isn't anything that crazy. Most overblown storyline of the night by far.
  21. Yes it's serious. I'm curious to the actual rule, not whether or not it's being followed. I'm not that naive.
  22. For clarification - this is not legal, correct? You can't offer NIL deals as incentive to sign? And furthermore, you can't offer NIL deals until they are enrolled? Unless this is another instance of NIL and bag money being conflated.
  23. This is still going to be the mantle for their outdoor fireplace so I used spar urethane because it's going to be outdoors. If it's indoors, it's probably more critical that it is properly kiln dried than the finish you use. For finish, you have a bevy of finishing options - Rubio Monocoat would be my pick.
  24. Ya, it was cold out. The wood drank up the liquid spar pretty quick for the first 2 coats and then I switched to much lighter coats. The spray spar dried to the touch very quickly. I just made sure I never applied so much that the spray spar ran. ~2 hours between liquid coats and ~30 min between spray coats worked out for me. FWIW, that pretty much followed the on bottle/can instructions as well.
