  1. The early roadmap to beat Texas is to press and trap our guards on defense and screen the fuck out of them on offense. When Traore is in the game just work it inside and get fouls. We don't have a guard who looks comfortable with the ball in his hands (except maybe Weav, who is more a small forward), which is a giant concern. Teams will double and muck it up with Vok (who needs to tamp down the emotions at times) and live or die by our guards outside shooting. Our front line is solid, though Traore looks like he is new to basketball about 85% of the time. Our guards are currently probably bottom 1/4 of the SEC level and need a lot of work. Gaping hole at PG is gonna be a problem all year.
  2. We are hurting at the guard spot and Az St is now pressing and trapping … somebody has to be able to bring the ball up the court
  3. Bevo gets the souvenir ball
  4. Taaffe sure is good at celebrating after plays … wish he would save that shit until a win is wrapped and under the tree
  5. He is working back from a very serious injury and is still young … even if he never recovers fully, saying a guy who was injured on the field is a wasted scholarship is prematurely shitty.
  6. Lotta lineman not even engaged with a defender when the play is run their direction… Ugly shit
  7. Hill don’t play DB
  8. Anytime we get a chance to beat Arkansas is easy to get up for … they hate up there with the Aggies and Sooners and would be nice to make them feel some pain today.
  9. The next few pre-conference games are critical for Mark. He has been inconsistent and looks lost, sloppy, and uninterested too much for my liking for 5th year player, despite the new system. If he doesn't find his groove soon, Wilcher and the Weav will and should feast on more of his minutes.
  10. It's a great change to finally, after many years, have a team stacked with stocky guys that deliver the pain in the paint rather than receive it.
  11. Traore is physically the real deal and very aggressive on defense and the boards. When the ball is in his hands on offense, he kicks into adrenaline rush like my ridgeback when she sees a squirrel. He just needs to calm down on offense a bit.
  12. Is Mark still looking somewhat like a deer in the headlights?
  13. The lack of flow/distribution/leadership from the guards was definitely concerning.
  14. They’re gonna run on us this half to make our bigs keep up … time to hit some transition shots
  15. The guards (Wilcher, mark and pope) are shooting 1 for 7 with 1 assist (I count weaver as a small forward) …. If we can get about 15 points and 5-7 assists total from them a game we should be pretty stout
  16. Night and day difference between the toughness, rebounding and defense inside from last year … hoping mark and pope start getting comfortable … they look like they aren’t sure what we are trying for I run on offense I think this team can hang with anyone if we can hit some outside shots
  17. What are we fucking reviewing?
  18. Team looks bouncy and scrappy but kinda worried about mark as the primary ball handler …
  19. It has a chance to be a tourney team but there’s no true point / ball handler and it’s not clear who we rely on when when we need to create a shot or draw a foul in crunch time. Currently looks like a lot of guys who could average 8-11 points a game… but Miller comes in with a reputation of running an offense that gets players good shots so that side of the ball should be more entertaining.
  20. I prefer starting a season hungry with a kick in the ass from the press rather than a pat on the back. Let's go!
  21. The play of the large guards we will be using to play point will be a big factor in our record. If they can get the ball up the court under pressure, play competent defense against smaller faster guards, and hit open outside shots at a decent clip, we could be in the mix for the top 1/3 of the SEC.
  22. that's a nice-looking Guinness pour!
