  1. Our known glaring holes (no PG ... lack of ball handler/floor general ... nobody, aside from maybe Weav, who can defend a fast guard... at best inconsistent outside shooting) are going to doom this team. It's particularly frustrating that the guys who are bringing the ball up court are holding on to it way too long and our "shooters" don't seem interested in moving without the ball with any urgency. Weaver is the only guy who shows consistent SEC level energy. Vok and Swain have their moments, but try to do too much at times when they need to pass the ball and reset (this is true of most of the team). Heide, who seems like a good shooter, is hesitant to shoot and/or not getting schemed open off the ball enough. Mark is role player small forward ... too slow and confused to be a ball handling guard and unable to stay in front of a guard on defense. The experiment with him as a primary ball handling, iso playing guard is over in my opinion. Time to ride with Wilcher and Pope and hope they show growth in the system. Give me more Codie, Duru, and Wilcher. Let us see if they take advantage of some legit playing time. Traore and Mark don't offer a reliable output. It's all over the place with them. And Heide is frustrating. He seems capable and athletic but disappears on the court. If Miller doesn't pull a legit PG (probably need 2) from the portal next year, his fate may be doomed unless one of the many freshman swingmen we signed can run a SEC offense (which is a high hurdle). Granted this is year one and he had to scramble to fill a roster, but he better be combing the globe for a floor general or his ticket will be punched back to the rust belt.
  2. I think miller encouraged Swain that he’d be the go to guy and have a lot of liberty to create his own shots … time to reel him in now that he’s forcing things and kind of ignoring the teammate with a better shot more than he should
  3. Nobody seems to be enjoying the game … everyone just going through the motions … zero inspiration … minimal competitive fire I hope these fans that showed up are getting a good holiday discount on concessions
  4. Was wondering why we had so many backups on so early in the game but then realized the game is almost 25% over and it’s just the score that looks like the game just began
  5. He’s basically a turnstile… wouldn’t have sniffed playing time on our sketchy interior line this season
  6. His water appears be due to break soon…
  7. Dude should have been allotted 10 seconds of pick time rather than a 3 minute rant … what a fucking cluster
  8. Swaim needs to dial it back and quit trying to do too much with the ball in his hands… he has his strengths, but shooting 3s, late game FTs and trying to burn his man off the dribble too much are not his forte. Currently, I think our best line-up is pope, Wilcher, heide, Swaim and Vok… and that is probably a second team lineup for most teams in the top 20. Our defense and ball handling are bad
  9. Lloyd was the guy I wanted
  10. He has some good traits but his moody bitching for a call every time down the court is annoying and will actually work against him more than it helps
  11. Teams showed some fight and kept it close with two starters on the bench
  12. Now we are fucked with traore getting heavy minutes
  13. The offense kind of looks like there’s a method to the madness but the defense is getting lost in no man’s land between 3 point and paint way too much … or switch defense on screens is slow as hell
  14. Traore just got teabagged by that guard that dunked on him!
  15. Gonna need pope, heide, wilcher and weav to bring their A games … mark just looks miserable so I’m not sure he has the necessary grit to make a difference… Vok needs to stay out of foul trouble to keep traore’s minutes limited
  16. the fact this is a new coach/system with new players and is nearing Weltlich level hype in just year one is pretty terrifying.... fans are skeptical and it's going to take a lot more than three promising freshmen next year to fill seats. Gonna need to gritty finish this year and that's starts with our 4 guards stepping the fuck up.
  17. Guards silent but Vok, Swain, and Heide looking okay so far … the announcing crew making it a brutal listen
  18. Miller is familiar with Hurley's system from his years with Xavier. He knows what to expect. Unfortunately, with our poor ballhandling and poor defense (especially against opposing guards) I think we are in for a drubbing, even if we can see it coming, unless two of our guards play well above their bell curve norms shooting and defending.
  19. I don’t mind a backup big who can rebound so long as we didn’t overpay and we aggressively tried to fill the gaping hole at PG
  20. Slightly better than the odds of owning a snow blower in Laredo
  21. It’s year one and he inherited scraps and had to pull pieces from the portal to form a patchwork team … the only real WTF so far has been the lack of a ball handling guard on the roster … no idea if we competitively offered several portal PGs and they just ended up going to other places but if we didn’t throw chips at some serviceable PGs and thought Mark and Pope could fill that role that’s a huge evaluation fuckup already
  22. It’s certainly not because he blew a ton of NIL on shooters
  23. Mark needs a seat
  24. Wtf defense was that Mark?
  25. This game will be over about 1/4 into our game if we’re lucky
