    Power Pop

Cheap Trick will always be the answer to "who's the best power pop band ever?"
  2. At least you had some redemption. And you got to see some great stuff he put out between 06-17.
  3. Wasn't a fan of the Kerry King song the first couple of times, but it grew on me.
  4. I hated Tom Petty when I was younger. Then I wised up and realized I had been a dumbass all those years.
  5. I don't know, the Emirates plane driving straight into the ocean seemed legit to me
  6. Exactly. This thread has become a beating for the past few pages. Except for that kid getting abused by the rotating farm/ranch equipment. That was worth posting.
  7. I like George's Beatles catalog better than any of the other Beatles', but I don't see how anyone can put anyone above Paul as the best all-around musician in the Beatles. He played every instrument that the others played, often better than they did (drums on Dear Prudence, guitar solo on Taxman). His bass playing revolutionized the instrument in a rock band, he wrote songs on piano, ukulele, synth, bass, guitar. His vocal range far exceeded George's. Someone might like George's style, or feel, or songwriting better...but as far as straight musicianship, there's just no comparison between Paul and any of the other Beatles.
  8. Well you certainly are adhering to the thread title, I'll give you that. Was Ringo better on drums than Lennon was on any specific instrument? Maybe so. Was he a better overall musician? Jesus. Was he a better singer? Double Jesus.
  9. Ministry tonight was a fun show. Al has slowed down a lot but they sounded great and the energy in the crowd was really good.
  10. My favorite part of the last 24 hours is Spider2YBanana saying yesterday "I'm done with the Taafe talk" and then spewing another 17 posts about him.
  11. The YouTube video that describes this whole ordeal is such a nightmare to watch. A collection of truly depressing and worrying "holy shit" moments. Awful.
  12. I agree with this the most. When a drummer is impossible to disentangle from their band, when they have left a mark on the creation of the band's songs such that the band could never sound the same without them, to me that's what makes a truly great drummer. Totally different genre, but I would put Dave Lombardo on that list. His stuff is integral to their songs, just woven in. The proof to me is that any other drummers Slayer has played with haven't sounded right, and yet when Lombardo unexpectedly sat in with Metallica all of a sudden they sounded good again. His live drumming is just so incredible. Having perfect timing on drumming this complex and heavy for 2+ hours is insanity. That double bass at 1:05, holy shit:
  13. When in the fuck is disu taking jumpers? Christ. He hasn’t hit shit all night and we are dominating in fouls.
  14. As shitty as we are and as shitty as we’ve played, every Tenn fan should be clenching because they know Mr Barnes is at the helm.
  15. Yes. Weaver show. And Hunter, since that’s one part of his game that sometimes works.
  16. It is amazing how many times Hunter has turned it over with baseline idiocy.
  17. Hunter is so frustrating. He is great once every 4-5 games, people think he’s got something cooking, and then he shits the bed several games in a row.
  18. Hard to understand where his son learned to attack defenseless people
