Honolulu may be 7th on the list with 37% of homes priced at $1M+, but good luck finding a single family home you want to live in for under $1M. They exist, but they are dogshit. You'll get an 1000sf single walled POS without central air and no trees in the middle of a forgettable part of town. If you're lucky you'll get one without termite damage and you might even own the land underneath the house -- though often in Honolulu you buy the house and lease the land underneath it. In Honolulu you're looking at condos for $1M. Single family houses worth living in are easily $1.5M+
Here's an example -- 950sf for $999K. Pretty sweet kitchen, though, unless you enjoy cooking.
It almost doesn't get any better than this in Kaimuki! A clear, corner lot on a tree lined street in the quieter part of Kaimuki, but still incredibly convenient. Kapiolani Community College and Diamond Head Theatre are minutes away. The slopes of Diamond Head are visible from your front yard. Need to ride the bus? No problem. There's a bus stop just a few steps away. Getting on and off the freeway is a breeze. As for the house, they just don't make 'em like this anymore. See and feel for yourself how this charming home will reward you for the love you pour into it. 3 bedrooms are downstairs and 2 are perched in a loft like setting upstairs. Little details throughout the home will compliment a creative renovation. It's the perfect home for that buyer who wants a fixer upper in Honolulu with just the right amount of city mixed with old Hawaii.
