  1. Frito Pie was a delicious staple at the Lake Travis school district before they got uppity. I can also personally attest to the aerodynamic qualities and detonation capabilities of a Frito Pie during a high school food fight, having seen one explode upon impact when hitting the back of a vice principal's head.
  2. Absolutely what I've been thinking ever since these Texas NIL deals were announced. So much smarter to get players than to overpay coaches.
  3. I think that's mostly correct, but I believe there is a lot of latitude in how much different positions / players get paid. I really don't think it's a straight 100K across the board. Some position groups will get more and some will get less. That's my recollection, which could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's the case. I too am curious about what will get paid out for 2022.
  4. If they had stayed together until 1972, an album could have had this track listing (US chart listing in parentheses): What Is Life (10) Maybe I'm Amazed (10) Working Class Hero Give Peace a Chance (14) Another Day (5) Instant Karma! (3) Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey (1) All Things Must Pass Imagine (1) My Sweet Lord (1) Followed in 1973 with songs like Photograph (1), Give me Love (Give me Peace on Earth) (1), Mind Games (18), My Love (1), Band on the Run (1), Jet (7), Live and Let Die (2)...I mean, that's ridiculous.
  5. I laughed too, but what they don't get is that shitty players won't be getting that $50K re-upped. They also seem to be missing the fact that our OL will be making more like $150K per season, and that the $10 million will fund every position on every team on campus. So yeah. Go ahead and tweet about how stupid we are.
  6. Excellent work and kudos to everyone involved with this. Just a fantastic game-changing development -- especially on the heels of Clark Field and with whatever is left to be announced.
  7. Let them work themselves up into a frenzy. That's what they always do, and then they wind up doing something stupid (see the leak on UT and ou to the SEC) that ultimately backfires in their faces. Dipshits can't help themselves.
  8. So many jealous poors (read: just about every other university in existence) will be complaining about this. Fuck 'em. I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE
  9. Whitt's tweet is funny but also kinda sobering for players that finished up their time last year. They have to be thinking "If my parents had only waited a couple of years..."
  10. Recruits have to understand that this approach is so much better than bags. It's transparent, above board, consistent, and it all goes to the player rather than handlers.
  11. From what I understand, we still aren't even fully armed and operational. We still have phase 3 to be launched. I can only assume that's literally just filling swimming pools with hundred dollar bills and telling recruits to go swimming for charity, but I'm not privy to the details.
  12. This is what I think will be the interesting part, but it's a very good problem to have. At some point soon it seems like we're going to see players annually shopping programs for bigger paydays. Fortunately Texas has deep deep pockets. That's why these NIL deals at UT are such a big game changer. And as SC pointed out, the problem won't be getting the poorer players out, it will be sifting through the badass dudes that want to come here to replace them.
  13. I honestly read the update on Caldwell and thought "Oh, maybe we have a shot at this Caldwell guy now that he's in the portal."
  14. I've thought that about talking heads on football shows as well. Aside from Lee Corso, no one really remembers what they predict. Just shoot from the hip, be confident and charismatic, and rake in cash. Accuracy means nothing.
  15. What time does the news drop today about the second phase of Texas' NIL plan? I think it will concentrate on OL and QB. That looks to be big news, and may be info that certain recruits are interested in hearing...
  16. Someone previously said a Ewers commit to Sark is similar in importance to the Simms commit during Mack's early tenure. I agree. It's a flag-planting, even if he doesn't pan out to win 3 Heismans.
