For the life of me, I can’t remember the guys name, but when I was in college we had a speaker in Texas History. He was a coach, and he told a story about making the state playoffs and having to travel to Houston from south Texas in the early 1960s. His team was mostly Hispanic. They ended up sleeping on the bus, because no hotels would rent them rooms. That anecdote, more than any other stuck with me, because one of the towns that refused to give them food and a room was close to where I grew up. The modern GOP does not want that story told in schools anymore. Not because it isn’t true, but because they aren’t ashamed for being responsible for it, and they’d prefer to do the same thing all over again.
And I find it particularly, well, humorous isn’t the right word, but we have a 7 page thread on pit bulls in Daily Texan in which people who have had bad experiences with pit bulls and were somewhat traumatized by it freely share their experiences about mean old pit bulls (I don’t disagree with that).
