  1. Yep, used to have to drive through La Grange, Smithville etc. Was a nasty highway as far as being dangerous.
  2. Yeah, that was a long time ago. Used to meet my grandparents there in the 1970s.
  3. Cherry Creek is as good as Springhill and probably more consistent since they don’t have a buffet to worry about.
  4. What program? The one with copper tone? There is no fucking program. There are only dollars.
  5. It doesn’t absolve him, and it doesn’t keep him from being fired, but I can almost guarantee you this is what happened. She went into the guest bedroom and started ranting. Got pissed off and grabbed his reading glasses and broke them, resulting in the “injury” to her finger, then jumped him which resulted in him dragging her, in a headlock, off the bed. Then he left the premises and she was mad and called the cops.
  6. That belongs in the shit I cooked lately thread.
  7. Exactly. None of us know shit, but what’s the fun in that? Instead we share stories, speculation and generally form an online mob. That’s what this website is for. Bad shenanigans. Really bad shenanigans.
  8. We should start a thread for those of us who have been bested or beat up by women and/or girls and keep it off this one, sorry for derailing. Maybe on this one : 22% of men (incl. Kevin) don't realize that a chimp would fucking wreck them
  9. I reckon not, but I’d rather die in a courtroom than in my own bedroom, with some crazy bitch trying to kill me. It happens. Again not saying it happened here but it does happen.
  10. This is coming from a person who has never had someone trying to legitimately trying to kill him. Again I’m not saying that’s what happened here, but I am saying if you’ve ever had a batshit crazy person trying to kill you, the last thing on your mind is your job requirements or anything else other than trying to keep your balls and eyes intact. Oh, you should never hit a woman. Fuck that, if a woman is trying to injure you, you should by all means knock the fuck out of her. This is an equal opportunity world. Fuck around and find out applies to all sexes. Also, gouge. Goddamnit.
  11. I respect all the people who say “never hit a woman”. In general that’s what you strive to do. But if you’ve ever had a batshit crazy, rather athletic woman attacking the fuck out of you, like trying to gouge your eyes out, you are going to be surprised. That shit happens and anybody who says “never hit a woman”, fuck that.
  12. You ever been in a confined cage with an angry hellcat? Sometimes "advantages" have nothing to do with anything, other than the best thing he could have done was run away as fast as he could. If that was even the situation. I will say in the 37 years I've been with my wife (quite a few before we actually married), we had a couple of physical altercations where I was being an asshole and she lost her mind. I once "broke her finger". Meaning, her finger got broken by me trying to deflect several punches aimed directly at my face. At the time she was no shrinking violet as we were running a "ranch" so to speak and she could "chock" hay bales and run a chainsaw etc. Nothing to do really with Chris Beard, other than to say there are times you have to protect yourself and occasionally that means it might injure the other person. When the fists start flying at you sometimes there isn't time to consider "good" decisions. Like I said, I'm not applying that to this case, I have no fucking idea what happened. But thinking a guy should "act big" because he "is big" is ludicrous. When someone gets out of control and starts trying to hurt you, there isn't always time to consult the "good behavior guidebook for gentlemen and college coaches".
  13. One thing I've learned from this thread, is that the way the "impeding breath or circulation thing is worded, next time I dutch oven my wife and forcibly hold the covers over her face, I could feasibly get charged with a 3rd degree felony and possibly assault with a deadly weapon.
  14. Exactly. The law of “unintended consequences” except they were intended.
  15. We all grump and bitch on the Ukraine thread and call out the Russians for being terrorists for attacking civilian infrastructure, mainly water and power. We gnash our teeth and squeeze our balls and call for horrible medieval death sentences for people who kill little kids. Well these motherfuckers are doing both of those things. So, step up, surly people, and recommend anthills and decapitation and stuff to these folks.
  16. No, it’s not. It’s just sad that we as a society can’t figure out how to balance freedom vs mental incapacity so that we don’t have a huge population of nutcases either living on the street, or living in our houses. His family obviously didn’t have a lot of options to force help. People like this guy basically get Ol Yellered.
  17. That’s where I’m at regarding the cops, if I personally ran across a nutcase shooting off an extremely deadly weapon, I’m not going to give him the benefit of the doubt. That said, and here’s cloak room, why the fuck should the cops or the citizenry have to deal with a mentally ill person with a goddamned assault rifle?
  18. Certainly the cops 'could' have handled it differently with a better outcome, but I'm laying 90% of the blame at our lack of mental health care and the ability for mentally ill people to have access to firearms.
  19. Yeah I had forgotten about Good Eats. It was sorta like Hoover's before Hoovers. Edit - now I remember why I thought that:
